As always a great video. I can’t imagine how the “outlaws” made it out there..hauling in food and water etc… Especially for longer periods of time. Pretty amazing.
I came across your channel a few months back and have truly enjoyed it. The Bigfoot stories hooked me in but I do love your tales of history as well. Now my wife and I look forward each week to a new Base Camp Chris. I'm retiring from teaching this year and hoping to get back out and dust off my hikers. Thank you for the tales, the travel, and the inspiration.
My parents bought me a book by Robert Redford for Xmas in the late 70's about the Outlaw Trail A Journey Through Time. I still love looking at it. Good stuff! Happy Trails and keep hiking 😀
Love The Desert!! The Skies are a Pure Clean Blue and Go On Forever. Really Enjoyed the Tale of Butch and Sundance, and the Trail Tacos looked Amazing!! Thank You So Much for This Wonderful Adventure Chris!!
I am waiting for the Base Camp Chris Cookbook to come out, when it does reserve me a copy. Quite the history of the Hole in the Wall Gang, that took some research. I hope you do get around to finishing the Butch and Sundance in a future video. Always wondered how he got the name Sundance Kid, now I do! As always you have that eye for scenery and now how to pick the spots. Cooking, camping and a fun story about history, made me feel young again. Cheers and stay safe.
Right?! We live in NYS & I learn so much about that side of the country watching his adventures. I am a new subscriber & I think my husband is getting a bit jealous of the time I spending binge watching Chris! Also, I have a new awareness of what could be lurking in our woods!
Awesome video! I loved everything about it. You are really good at telling stories you actually pull people in right from the start. I like to see what you're going to be cooking. Chris, After rehydrating the MH Breakfast Skillet try adding some bacon bits and browning in your skillet with some butter or ghee, it is great on its own out of the pan or as a filling for breakfast burritos with flour tortillas.
Gee, man would I love to go horse riding down here, ( cowboy country ) haha yep , yes SIREE and bring my JEEP RENEGADE CJ - 7 auto V- 8 with very big 37 " inch tyres and my 3 huntin dogs in the back. Looks like a lovely meal; what no chilli powder or chilli’s? Glad you use walking poles, with a heavy pack on rough terrain, is a good idea, it’s easy to get over balanced .

Chris,
After rehydrating the MH Breakfast Skillet try adding some bacon bits and browning in your skillet with some butter or ghee, it is great on its own out of the pan or as a filling for breakfast burritos with flour tortillas.
Thanks for the tips!
Sounds delish❤
Amazing that its totally treeless
Yes...just a few sage brush and some grasses, not even Junipers.
Very interesting history.

Just curious how much does your pack weigh? I love the scenery, the high plains desert is gorgeous.
That looks like slick shale.
Outside of the 2 metro areas, Nevada is the most sparsely populated state. It is great for exploration
Would that compression sack be a good size for the Kelty Cosmic Down bag?
Why did you “break down” and get mountain house? Is it not very hiker friendly?
It is very hiker friendly...just not hiker tasty in my opinion.
