Regarding character deaths, I think people don't talk enough about the symbolic representation of society through the way they died. Example - Ali, the purest person in the game, dies by getting betrayed, an accurate message that the nicest people in life always end up getting stabbed in the back.
and the least loyal person in the exact same episode also gets shot. The series goes out of its way to show that it isn't good nature, it isn't loyality, it isn't intelligence, it isn't caution or talent or anything like that, that allows you to win. It's luck. Gi-Hun bets on horses, which is all down to luck. The whole series starts with his luck of betting right. The last episode is called lucky day. The old man asks him if his luck has finally run out. If it is a commentary on capitalism, like everyone says it is, then that commentary is that people who get rich, got there out of dumb luck. Gi-Hun survives half of his games through dumb luck.
or when gi hun was forced to take the 10000 won back from the gambling receptionist, when life gives u no options, u have to do it the hard way (just like whn gi hun was forced to cheat in the marbles game in order to survive)
You’re right. The whole concept is exactly about that. It’s similar in other films and series, like Snowpiercer and The Running Man to a degree. They are supposed to be making a remake of The Running Man which is the same as the book (which was written by Stephen King). That will also be similar with poor, desperate people agreeing to risk their lives for the enjoyment of others to win lots of money in a rigged game. In the film of The Running Man he is tricked and forced to take part in the game but in the book, like in squid game, he takes part voluntarily, risking his life because he wants the money.
I think the reason why the old man acted the way he did towards Gi-hun was because Gi-Hun showed the old man kindness, respect and his caring nature so it kinda restored the old man’s faith in humanity- to an extent. It’s a game where you want the other opponents eliminated and Gi-Hun being so nice to the old man and trying to help him succeed in the game was not what any of the other characters were doing. During the marble game, the old man could see how much Gi-Hun didn’t want to lose and die, but didn’t want to cheat, but also didn’t want the old man to die, not knowing it didn’t matter, he was going to live regardless as the games creator.
There is a theory that Gi-hun is his son I haven't rewatched the series so i don't remember specific things but if u do your research u will find some hints and that it makes sense
@@cookiesandmilk686 I don't actually think Gi Hun is his son but rather representation of what life would be like if the old man didn't have his wife and son abandon him. Plus there were many hints throughout the story to show that they aren't related and were both just representing both sides of a coin in society
Well I also think that Gi-hun is the old man's son 1. When they were going to play marble game, they both said the same thing (I don't remember what exactly they said), but Gi-hun said that this ambient made him remember about his childhood and at that point the old man said that yes it made me remember my past when he used to live with his wife 2. When the staffs were serving the breakfast, Gi-hun said that he don't drink milk, and the old man said, "My son also hates milk, if you're my son then I will make you drink this milk my scolding you". 3. Gi-hun's mother full name was Oh Mal-Soon and the old man's full name was Oh Il-Nam And it clearly shows that their Surnames are Oh which means they are related And I'm 99% sure that they both are father and son
You can't steal what isn't yours to give. The employer was dealing with financial issues, by that logic, if Ali didn't steal from his boss, he stole from his fellow workers. Served him fucking right to get his marbles stolen.
Cool little thing I noticed. Every player was involved in a game where lives were at stake. Everyone, except 001 because he knew the rules and got special treatment. But on his deathbed he played one last time with Gi-Hun over whether someone would help a homeless man and when he lost - he died.
Gi-Hun and the old man were betting on wether someone would help the drunk person, just like the rich men bet on the players. Gi-Hun could have gone to help the drunk man himself but he chose to observe like the rich men did
@@poppydelaney6086I have a feeling though that even if it made it to midnight and the man was still alive and nobody helped him Gi Hun would have gone out there to help him anyway
Regarding your first point (foreshadowing fates) Gi-hun's mother's death was foreshadowed when Sae-byeok and him were dropped off. Gi-hun swore on his mother's grave that he wouldn't try anything if Sae-byeok freed his hands; immediately after doing so Gi-hun lunges at her.
Also the last episode title “One Lucky Day” is a reference to a Korean story of the same name where a man makes lots of money working all day only to come home to find his wife dead
@@Hitman2b I know. It's 50/50. Open ending. In real life I'm pretty sure that even a non-lethal wound in a combination with falling such height would still mean a death sentence, but this is a movie after all, so in the context of a story there is a chance he's still alive and somehow made it without bleeding out and crushing all his vital organs during the fall. I just hope it's not the case though and that he died, because it would be better. It would show even the Frontman has to make sacrifices in these games. Nobody's immune.
@@contentdeleted3198 Maybe, like in the tug of war game, he would've came up with some strategy to tell the difference between the tempered and regular glass.
At the beginning of the squid game when the main character bet money for horse racing, horse number 8 and 6 were fighting for a first place and it seemed like horse 8 will win but horse 6 reversed the situation and won the race. These horses symbolize both gi hoon and song woo who had number 45(6)and 21(8). And on the last round of their fight sang woo who had last number 8 was winning the game but gi hoon with last number 6 eventually won like horse racing
Something I noticed about In-ho: In episode 2, when Jun-ho and his mother were talking, they were talking about finding In-ho. Jun-ho said if he doesn't find him in a few days, he will report him missing. This implies that he hasn't been missing for long, and is a relatively new Front Man.
I noticed this too, yet years and years of files showed the games were going on for decades, but he still seemes very educated and familiar and was known to the VIP's, so I'm still a little confused about that. Also, I think Jun-ho will be alive in the next one, at least I'm hoping...😍😍😍
He didn’t choose ‘no’ during the vote to test faith in humanity. He did it because he wanted it to be their _choice_ to come back to play. Then there’s less guilt, and he can feel like he didn’t force them to play with him, that was what they decided to do - even knowing the risks.
@@paulcolancon honestly, they probably decided that they wanted to die together. They probably planned to kill themselves if the other one died. Neither could imagine living without the other.
The old man didn't press the button to prove humanity but he didn't want to force anyone to play so he, in his mindset, didn't kill anyone without their permission
Yeah and the people didn’t know they would be killed if they lost. It’s a natural thing, if one was invited to play and win a Billion dollars, who wouldn’t want to play? In my opinion the old man DID kill people without their permission, since they never expected it. Hah, but then the series would’ve been meaningless 😂
@@eirinidadakaridou37 it was there fault they made themselves die the rules were don’t move on red light or u will be eliminated AND SO MUCH OF THE PEOPLE MOVED
Squid Games is one of the best shows I have seen in a LONG time. It's brilliant masterpiece. I originally didn't want to watch it because of the hype but it got to me and by episode 2 or 3 I was hooked.
The three ranks of guards are Worker (or Worker Ant), Warrior (or Warrior Ant) and Manager (Handler). In Korean that is일벌 (일개미), 전사 (전사 개미), 매니저. Romanized that is ilbeol (ilgaemi), jeonsa (jeonsa gaemi), and manija. They start with the letters ㅇㅈㅁ (ieung, jieut and mieum - I J M). These are represented as a circle ㅇ, a triangle ㅿ and a square ㅁ in the title of the Korean poster.
@@wolfmanhcc If you mean this in English, it's exactly the same. Soldier is a synonym of Warrior in an ant, termite or a hive colony. If you mean it in Korean, the words 군인 or 병사, I believe the first also has a hive, warror-soldier ant dictionary meaning. The second means private or soldier. But 병사 has the same root as barracks and infirmary. It should have an association with a Hanja character that means a common bedding, a common barrack. So it's still a synonym, even though one word may derive from a Chinese word, the other from a Native Korean word etc... However, I don't think that the meaning the writer(s) would want to give in this situation is Private. Sure, everyone in South Korea, including the Korean guards and the players in the movie (except maybe Ali) understand and instinctively follow a military hierarchy, because of their extended military service and their reserve military and civil defence status. But these guards are not privates. Because, first of all we've got to admit, they do look like magenta ants with ant-like masks and they operate mindlessly in the Organization, without questioning their orders and not having a face (so they can commit the atrocities they do). And secondly, their first two ranks are definitely hive ranks anyway. So I choose the word 전사 that makes more sense and starts with a ㅈ and follows the logic of OJM, the romanised abbreviation of 오징어게임 (O-Jing-Eo-Ge-Im - Squid Game) used in Korea to name the series. The title in Korean on the poster is written in white and has these specific three letters (Jamo) ㅇ,ㅈ & ㅁ, turned to a circle, triangle and square in magenta (Google Squid Game in Korean).
@@roseblue_ yeah. We were watching on my roommates account and I said sub, but he wanted dub. I loved the dub though. The poor sync on mouth movement and 101 sounding like every cartoon bad guy ever added to the enjoyment
I have another theory. I think that the ranking of the guards is determined by the amount of sides the shape has. I also think that the highest rank is star, being the Old Man because he is the maker of the game. He also hints this by choosing the star in the honeycomb challenge.
Yes, it was his home when he was a kid and they had circle, square and triangle there . So he was the founder/maker/owner so he himself designed his home into it and as we can see that his home had those 3 shapes that's why he chose those 3 shapes for the business card, employee's masks and etc.
For the marbles game, there was an odd number and high possibility that they would not choose the old man because he appeared weak. Even if he was not chosen, he would be safe, same with the loud woman.
Oh I see. No wonder why the old man was looking upset at that moment when nobody was choosing to be his partner. Not because that there was the possibility that he could be killed even before the game starts, but because he likes to play more than spectating.
When Il-Nam seemingly peed himself, the water bottle he was given, was full. But when they showed the wet pants, the bottle was empty. So we can assume, he used the water to wet his pants and make it look like, he had peed. Also the creator of Squid Game said, he chose the color red for the hair, to show Gi-Hun's anger
I mean some of your theory is correct but gi hun dye his color red it's because it shows that he tries to calm himself and acting like it never happened and start a new life because in Korean the color red means positive it gives you the energy to calm yourself down that's why he dyes his hair to red so that he doesn't go crazy just like his backstory he used to be an abusive guy and like to gambling
He was scared. The players were killing each other - he, as an old man, would have been an easy target. The other players did not know he was in charge of everything or that he was really a super rich successful business man just participating for fun, unlike the rest of them who actually want the money - it is shown through the show that most of the other players see him as a useless and worthless old man. He definitely was scared because he would have been killed by them. He wasn't acting like an old frail man either - he was exactly that, old and frail. He had a brain tumour too. He would not have stood a chance in the riot that was happening in that room. That's why he wanted to play in the games also, because he knew he was close to dying and wanted to feel alive again. The guards knew not to kill him, but the players didn't.
Not only that. I think that no one of the creators didn't think that someone could play with the old man, and he will peacefully watch this round in his room. Also, there is a theory that he split water to himself to become an unattractive player. But Gi-hun wasn't stopped by it.😂 So it becomes another end. And the player who was left was Han Mi-nyeo
Ok,first, the intresting detail you missed was at 13:34,when theres a gaurd with a pause symbol on his mask, second, when ali took the money from his boss while his hand was getting grinded, the boss dropped the money,so when the boss said "go ask the workers if they got any of theyre pay checks" they SAW they got lied to,and they still helped/assisted the boss,so the workers probably werent working for money, third,in season two, when thanos got the girl killed,we could see he felt regret in his face,he looked traumatized and regretful,
The main theory is that Il-Nam is supposed to be Gi-Hun's father. Il-Nam is alive but is dying while Gi-Hun was dead while living. So, Il-Nam before he died wanted to save his son while simultaneously seeing if he was worthy to take over the games.
Ali isn’t saying Sang-Woo at the end of the marble game. In Korean he’s actually using a respectful title that denotes Sang-Woo as not his peer but his better in terms of age, class and status. In his last moments alive he’s STILL seeing the best in his “friend”. On the other end of this Gi-hun uses seniority language and behaviour towards Il-nam through every interaction as in Korean culture you respect your elders to a high level BUT in the last scene of the two he drops this language and behaviour. (To a western audience this is hugely missed but to its Korean audience its plain as day. Even when he passes the glass of water to Il-nam he does it with one hand, it’s considered very rude to not hand it to someone with both hands.) Even if Gi-hun was being kind to Il-nam verbally this subtle change in actions would tell Il-nam that they are no longer friends, the trust is gone and Gi-hun couldn’t give a shit about him.
If I remember correctly he says Sang-woo but also 형 (hyeong) meaning older brother as a direct translation but also being used to show that he sees Cho Sang-Woo as his social superior and has great respect for him although hyeong does not have to be used with a name in this scene I believe it was used with Cho Sang-Woo's name
When you look at the cut scene in the dorm, when everyone is fighting, and the Front Man has the camera on Player 1, the cursor on the tracker for the camera on his head is also in the shape of a triangle. Interesting detail.
When Gi-hun goes to his daughters mothers house to ask for money, the camera goes to an umbrella next to the door. The daughter brings the umbrella out to him. Maybe to foreshadow the honeycomb game.. and that episodes name is Man With the Umbrella
At least someone knows that he was tracked. Yeah after all these theories came out about ali being alive, they added a scene to Netflix where the episode was opened with them putting Ali in a casket
The gift given to Gi-Hun's daughter is the same black box with pink ribbon. (Did the creators of the games place it there and is the boy in the arcade involved?? Or is it just movie for shadowing that imagery to be associated with a gun/death).
Nope the ribbon was a different colour (I think gold if I remember correctly). Not pink. The wrapping of the lighter gun inside was pink (representing the worker clothes and their guns). I think the fact that Gi-hun already received a box with a gold ribbon signified that he would win the games and not die a.k.a. a black box with a pink ribbon.
@@Scarletcroft must be a mandala effect, I remember it being pink. I also remember it being the last thing he gave his daughter, suggesting a future in the Korean military. He later used it threaten the recruiter and then he suggested his team after the first game be [like a military unit].
My theory : The players who had not entered the games the second time (14 players) are now the red men/soldier. Second theory : Jun-ho (The detective police) might actually be alive. Because he was shot in the shoulder and had fallen in water. Which gives hint that he might be alive.
Falling from that height, water is essentially concrete upon impact, unless he dove perfectly straight down, in a 90° angle, which would still imply that after he got to the surface he would a) need to get to the shore asap, b) take care of his wound(s), and c) find a way to survive (i.e. find drinkable water and eat). The only way that he could have achieved the latter would be if he killed one of the guards and impersonated them - just like he did before.
@@AlexGreece45 or perhaps the brother missed the shot on purpose and sent someone to check if somehow he lived to free is own guilt, the one we see when he looks into the mirror

Il-nam was also scanned. There is a green outlining on him if you pau close attention. Also he wasn't the only one killed completely off-screen. Although we saw the guard put the gun against his head, we never saw Ali get killed
Good Fact About The Game Leader:the leader is not the bad guy Cause the nearby players infront the leader in red light green light have no green so the leader hope they can live longer with them as an ghost
If you studied the images carefully, you'll notice Il-nam may have a green outline, but he isn't shaded green like the others. Ali's murder wasn't shown on camera, but at the start of the next episode, his body is shown in a coffin being prepared for incineration; he has a head wound, as given by a fatal head shot that most victims suffered.
I honestly still cried when the old man "died". I also cried when Ali died, when Sae-beyeok died, also I was a little sad when Sang-Woo killed himself.
The other players didn't become guards when they chose red. Ddakji is a game that has 2 different color cards. I don't know why there is any theories about the cards.
Interesting! I was thinking that the guards had almost a similar situation as the players, that they too could be taken out if they did not follow the rules. And that they were as bound to the game with their lives to only follow orders otherwise they too would've been neutralized. The guards were sort of victims too :-/ 🤔
definitely a capitalism critique, that the creator plays the game with the contestants, while having the advantage of an inability to lose. How big players tell us they are just participants in the game, but end up having been the creators, who wrote all the rules...
They think it is. It's really about corruption. Every system has issues but capitalism has lifted the most people out of poverty. So it's a criticism of corruption and injustice.
@@davidbell2547 Capitalism also encourages people to do that which they otherwise wouldn't have in the absence of a profit incentive. Sometimes it's for the better, and sometimes it involves stepping on the necks of others to get further ahead.
When you were talking about the wall murals, it doesn’t show the three at the table. It’s supposed to show people playing with marbles, represented by the small circles in the center of that mural
4:00 Each wrist band has two hasps. One is clearly attached to a chain that is anchored to the rope. The other is padlocked to the wrist. What is commonly shown as a "missing" padlock is merely the "other side" of the restraint. You can see this on 001 and the other contestants.
I saw that thing about the no locks on another video and it made no sense to me - They said that it was a clue to the old mans safety so that if the team lost he could get out of the shackles and not fall to his death with the team... But if that was the case... Say his team lost - How would they have explained everyone falling but him? The other teams players would see everyone fall but him... That didn't seem logical.
Another fun fact: Episode 6 "Ggambu" I translated its meaning and, it says " a close friend". So I think it makes sense see, in that episode their were pairs of close friends for the marble game like- Sangwoo and Ali, Saebyeok and jiyeong etc. I-i think it makes sense 🤔😮
Ali was actually was not killed on screen so he wasn’t the only one. I think the reason for this is that they stressed how fair the game had to be and I think they knew Ali didn’t lose fairly
@@wolfmanhcc no because he did not change the game at all. What he did was trick him and steal his marbles. And that is not playing a fair game. As you seen everyone else who changes the game actually won fairly so no he was not a smarter opponent he was just selfish.

While I would love to see a second season, due to the fact that our main character has to get back to his daughter. The series can just end here though. Who are we kidding, there will be a second season.
Sadly, it's a practice to leave series always open to invite a second season. Creators only get paid if Netflix orders one. Making the series in a way that would make a second series impossible, would hurt their future income. Making it, so that viewers have to demand a second season on the other hand... that's a job-guarantee for years to come...
Yeah but he takes that guy's phone who's playing the slapping game which gets him the card to call and ends up on the phone with the front man who tells him to back off but then he turns around and doesnt get on the plane to see his daughter anyway-he then obviously has plans to go interrupt or ruin the game or something-which shows that there's a plan for another season.

Thanks for the vid. It is so heartbreaking they didn’t notice the walls with all of the games on them. And Ali also died offscreen, but I believe his body was later shown with the bow coffin.
Maybe the front man having a business card in that box symbolizes that his life was threatened if he did not become the front man? Like why he chose to be there if he previously won? And why is he living in the tiniest house if he won as well? He also seems to have a certain sadness so I wonder.
I agree with you. I thought that he emotionally suffered. the scene that front-man was watching the players in the first game, he was drinking the liquor.
@@christopersanjose I don't think so - the police man looking for his brother (who was the front man in the black mask) would have been Oh Il-Nams son too then?
I don't think he ever went home after winning. The land lady of the place says to his brother the police man that he hasn't been back and that his rent hasn't been paid and she asks him to pay it or she will have to throw his brothers stuff out. Everyone offered a chance in the quid game was some one who was desperate and desperate for money - hence why they were willing to put themselves through the Squid game despite the risk - they were desperate. @@gabbymctin I don't think so, while it may have been emotionally taxing to make it through the games, Gi-Hun got to leave after winning, I don't see why he would have stayed unless he wanted to and wanted to be a part of it himself taking over the role as front man. Just because he was drinking liquor doesn't mean he was struggling - in fact it could be the opposite, many people sit down to watch their favourite tv shows with a glass of wine to relax and unwind as they watch their favourite show - this could symbolise that - him really relishing the bloodshed that is about to happen and show that to him these people dying is exactly that - purely entertainment.
One thing you missed is Oh Il Nam could be 456 real father. Not clear why 456 doesnt remember where he grew up or neighborhood when #1 described the old home n his little boy waiting for his dad or playing at his house.
I can explain why it's not clear, because it's not true. It just wouldn't make sense for him to not immediately point out his childhood home if it was directly in front of him as Il Nam points it out
The part that me messed up the most is when their struggles related to how they died. Ji young, we didn’t see her struggles but she told us that her father killed her mom and she killed her father and she gets killed in squid game.

in season 2 or 1 when gi-hun gave his daughter a gift, it was shaped and looked like the death boxes in the game. Inside was a gun that was a lighter. That is a detail to the incinerator
idk if they said this in squid game but the rank for guards depend on how many angles they have for example square is most powerful bc it has 4 angles and circles have least respect bc it has 0 angles
@@sleeby526 and the fact the facial scanner authenticated said angly mask, shows the rank is more powerful than the mask. Showing everyone is truly equal.
I think when Ali dies because Sang-Woo tricked him out of his marbles is more about Sang-Woo's character than Ali's. Ali's boss was trying to screw him over by not paying him, Ali was taking money that was owed to him and not stealing. Sang-Woo being a Korean boss at a company before it went bankrupt cause he swindled investors, plays into his character. Ali mentioned that he had medical bills and later see that he lost a finger, which is why he needed to get paid the salary that was owed to him and the boss made a bunch of lies about not having any money. So it seems fitting that the boss would get his hand caught it the factory equipment.
Wow this is the cleverest series ever! About the red hair color there are other theories as well, like all the participants chose blue card (even Gi hyun had blue hat while playing), the color red is a sign of being conscious rather than slaved by others, so all players were slaved by the capitalism somehow, the definition of red and blue color was mentioned in an old movie before.
Il-Nam is actually Gi-hun’s father! According to the movie, while the undercover police was scrolling through the participants, Gi-hun’s file comes up. It says the father was Oh-Il-Nam. I presume Il-Nam gave away Gi-hun to his sister who is named Oh Mal-Su. You can see the last name is the same.
for the "001 is safe" theory, i think that he joined in the games one last time just to feel alive again because of his tumor. it wasn't gonna matter if he died, hes gonna die anyway
I have two theories: 1) Remember how the salesman said that we don't have more places left to the main character? That is why he was the last person. 2) The number 456 which is the last number symbolizes that he will the last man standing.
Good observation..u missed one thing In one episode when food was served to all the participants the old man says the food reminds him of his young days
Well that was some good in cider information and details that I missed my watch now. It was good to see that the old man chose to stop the games and let them choose to come back on their own
3:44 that the old man wasn't in danger is false... the green overlay was never near the center. just the green outline, which he also has, like every body else. In other shots you see that the middle of the lense never had a green overlay. But the game is easy if u don't panic. maybe he wouldn't have been killed, but the overlay is not the indicator for that theory

I have this question if someone can answer: From the series we know that the game was being played since many years (as the police guy saw the archives). Also, at the end, after the creator's death, we saw that the next year game was still going to take place. We also know that in one of the old files, player 1 was not the old man. So, my question is, did old man create only this year's game or previous and future years games as well? Did he participate only in this year's game? Who will sponsor the game's winner's amount after his death?
it's the bets of the wealthy who watch that sponsor it. it feels like the vip's where not the only ones watching and betting on it. the prize was something equivalent to 42m usd
In red light green light when the doll scans everyone, clearly the 001 on his shirt lights up and his body is lined with green exactly like the crouching woman to his right. He IS being scanned, so the only other reasons for his confidence I can think of, is that either his number got locked and he wont be shot regardless, or he simply chose the games in an order that fit his skilllevel and he knew he wouldn't be caught.
@@mii_kay4514 The outline isn't technically him being scanned, it's just him being outlined as an outlier. When they say he wasn't scanned they mean as in the other players had their full bodies scanned from top to bottom with a green like laser, rather than being outlined themselves, whereas Il-nam was only outlined.
I heard a lot about this. The true is that he was a sadist, he created the game, and after a while he wanted to played. This game was created exclusively for bad people and sure he was one of them. Even the guy won the game was a really bad person. He lie cheated steal from his own mother until he killed her. There no heroes in this series. This series was to show that all the world is sadistic in a way. If there were gladiators fights live in tv will be the greatest show ever: period. We as a humans like to watch other people suffer.
So interesting and suspects filled who could notice the old man was the masterminder of the whole GAME.... kudos to the crew cast and everyone who made This SQUIDGAME a Success 🎉😊
Correction, it's only the circle staff that aren't equipped with guns. The triangle and square staff do have guns. Tho triangle staff can use rifles while the square managers keep a hidden pistol on them.
Well I want to say as a viewer who doesn't look for foreshadows and clues and likes the be surprised, it was a remarkable story where the storyteller straight up tells us that Il nam had a brain tumor and we think he has some kind of memory loss due to it. And if we believe this we think he is not scared to die and just having fun. Also there was always a mystique that the old man ( in my mind) might have played this game more then once...
The dorm as a warehouse also ties into 456's Strike story. Also I think his attempt to take down the games is - well blatantly spelled out when he tries to during hell before giving up and telling the brother he made it all up. He just needed the confidence boost.
You did a great job at explaining and breaking down these details. Also the character of Oh Il-Nam (First Man) may be the analogy for God, the creator. The scene where Il Nam is standing on his bunk bed high above the players fighting on the warehouse floor, along with the darkness and strobe lights representing lightening, adds more to that analogy of God the creator verses mankind, "I'm afraid. Stop it!" Read into that as one wishes. Also keep in mind that Il Nam wanted to "descend" from his position of power down into the games. This may also be a metaphor to the God of the Christian faith wanting to descend to earth to be in the flesh, aka the Christ figure. Il-Nam dies on Xmas morning too. There's a symbolism behind that. And Oh Il-Nam voting to end the games may be the representation of the Christian God giving mankind freewill, without divine interference. Gi-Hun, being the last number, may represent the Omega. Hence why it was important for these 2 numbers to have befriended one another in the story. Gi-Hun may be the analogy of the Christ Figure within the story as well (a trinity so-to-speak). Il-Nam giving his 001 jacket to Gi-Hun after Gi-Hun gave his 456 jacket to Il-Nam. The alpha and omega. Oh Il-Nam, "There is no ownership between us." Like the symbol for infinity, both the beginning and the end are not individual locations but are actually the same location. Il-Nam created the games. Maybe this hints that Gi-Hun will end the games? As for the trinity, the table where the contestants ate at before the last game is shaped as a triangle. The triangle has always been used to symbolically represent the Christian trinity. And yes, that was the "last supper" of the games. When Gi-Hun wins the games he is dumped off on a street corner with a gold debit card in his mouth. Pay attention to the character on the street who "witnessed" that happen. Also the gold debit card "in the mouth" may be very symbolic as well. This is why I believe some viewers think Oh Il Nam is Gi-Gun's biological father. This may not technically be true within the story. What they're catching onto is the deeper meaning behind the story. The author who wrote Squid Games created a masterpiece!
Wow! And also the homeless old man that was at the end, he looked exactly as number 1, was like he was watching himself dying in the cold from above in the warm
Also , not forgetting the significance of number 456… - G-Hun was player number 456 - G-Hun won 4,560,000 Korean Won in the Horse racing game in episode 1. - The winning prize money for the Squid Game ended up being 45.6 billion Korean Won
Regarding character deaths, I think people don't talk enough about the symbolic representation of society through the way they died. Example - Ali, the purest person in the game, dies by getting betrayed, an accurate message that the nicest people in life always end up getting stabbed in the back.
Wow, good observation!
and the least loyal person in the exact same episode also gets shot.
I wouldn’t say nice but naive. Gi-hun is a nice person and he’s the one who won the game.
@@cookiesandmilk686 I forgot I even left this comment lol
@@cookiesandmilk686 I don't actually think Gi Hun is his son but rather representation of what life would be like if the old man didn't have his wife and son abandon him. Plus there were many hints throughout the story to show that they aren't related and were both just representing both sides of a coin in society
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
Well I also think that Gi-hun is the old man's son
1. When they were going to play marble game, they both said the same thing (I don't remember what exactly they said), but Gi-hun said that this ambient made him remember about his childhood and at that point the old man said that yes it made me remember my past when he used to live with his wife
2. When the staffs were serving the breakfast, Gi-hun said that he don't drink milk, and the old man said, "My son also hates milk, if you're my son then I will make you drink this milk my scolding you".
3. Gi-hun's mother full name was Oh Mal-Soon and the old man's full name was Oh Il-Nam
And it clearly shows that their Surnames are Oh which means they are related
And I'm 99% sure that they both are father and son

No his boss wouldn’t pay him for working for him and he stole the money from him because he wouldn’t pay him

Cool little thing I noticed. Every player was involved in a game where lives were at stake. Everyone, except 001 because he knew the rules and got special treatment. But on his deathbed he played one last time with Gi-Hun over whether someone would help a homeless man and when he lost - he died.
The game was protecting him but I don't think he was bothered by dying
Cool hint there
Whoa! Great point! 🏆
Regarding your first point (foreshadowing fates)
Gi-hun's mother's death was foreshadowed when Sae-byeok and him were dropped off. Gi-hun swore on his mother's grave that he wouldn't try anything if Sae-byeok freed his hands; immediately after doing so Gi-hun lunges at her.
Good analysis my friend.

Something I noticed about In-ho: In episode 2, when Jun-ho and his mother were talking, they were talking about finding In-ho. Jun-ho said if he doesn't find him in a few days, he will report him missing. This implies that he hasn't been missing for long, and is a relatively new Front Man.

I thought I heard Worker, Soldier and Manager.

He definitely was scared because he would have been killed by them.
He wasn't acting like an old frail man either - he was exactly that, old and frail. He had a brain tumour too. He would not have stood a chance in the riot that was happening in that room.
Even when he passes the glass of water to Il-nam he does it with one hand, it’s considered very rude to not hand it to someone with both hands.)
Even if Gi-hun was being kind to Il-nam verbally this subtle change in actions would tell Il-nam that they are no longer friends, the trust is gone and Gi-hun couldn’t give a shit about him.

But if that was the case... Say his team lost - How would they have explained everyone falling but him? The other teams players would see everyone fall but him... That didn't seem logical.
@@AngryLittleSponge Nah, he was clearly locked in. There were many clues but, this is not one. False propaganda
love this channel! the presentation is just awesome! cant believe it is not yet 1M subs! soon we will get there!
9:20 - the players wear green, not blue. it is very clearly green lmao
Ali faced a smarter opponent. Player 101 also was losing in an unfair way and was allowed to changed the game half way. As is fair.
@@wolfmanhcc no because he did not change the game at all. What he did was trick him and steal his marbles. And that is not playing a fair game. As you seen everyone else who changes the game actually won fairly so no he was not a smarter opponent he was just selfish.
Season 2...Ali will pop up

@@danceentertainment4997 , Man, i am sorry if i am going have to ruin this but

I disagree that il-nam was not scanned, you can cleary see he is outlined in green. Sure he may not be shaded in green or whatever, but like everyone else's shadow it is green.
Finally someone else noticed
For real! I roll my eyes when I hear this theory that he wasn’t scanned.
Exactly
No look at he difference of tracking the other players and the old man
Yeah!!!
When the clock started to chime at midnight, it chimed only eleven times.
Squid Game is a fantastic series made amazingly that catch the viewers' interest up to the end. Remarkably done!
Thanks ! real explanations and in detail 👍
another important clue that you've missed is that the fact the production took about 12 years which tells me there is definitely sequel to this.
What is wrong with the logo ...
I hope they don't revive characters because they were popular. Then the series would become crap (like the 2nd and 3rd part of Matrix).
Agreed-it would diminish the show for sure -
Yeah but he takes that guy's phone who's playing the slapping game which gets him the card to call and ends up on the phone with the front man who tells him to back off but then he turns around and doesnt get on the plane to see his daughter anyway-he then obviously has plans to go interrupt or ruin the game or something-which shows that there's a plan for another season.
@@cortneykoontz4213 agreed - there will be another season from what you said, but maybe different games will occur in the states and connect somehow to the original - will see …
The most mysterious series ever!! Which really makes it out of the box🔥💯❤️
Thanks for the vid. It is so heartbreaking they didn’t notice the walls with all of the games on them. And Ali also died offscreen, but I believe his body was later shown with the bow coffin.
Guys we know Ali,s body was burned but he was a off screen death too
Maybe the front man having a business card in that box symbolizes that his life was threatened if he did not become the front man? Like why he chose to be there if he previously won? And why is he living in the tiniest house if he won as well? He also seems to have a certain sadness so I wonder.
I agree with you. I thought that he emotionally suffered. the scene that front-man was watching the players in the first game, he was drinking the liquor.
The frontman is the son of Il Nam
@@christopersanjose I don't think so - the police man looking for his brother (who was the front man in the black mask) would have been Oh Il-Nams son too then?
I don't think he ever went home after winning. The land lady of the place says to his brother the police man that he hasn't been back and that his rent hasn't been paid and she asks him to pay it or she will have to throw his brothers stuff out.
Everyone offered a chance in the quid game was some one who was desperate and desperate for money - hence why they were willing to put themselves through the Squid game despite the risk - they were desperate.
The front man, like all the other players before entering the game would have been struggling for money, hence why he lived in a tiny room. he couldn't afford anything else.
Oh Il-Nam (오일남)
Is an Acronym for:
오징어게임 = Squid Game
일번 = Number One
남자 = Man
=> "First Man in Squid Game"
*and* "Squid Game Founder/CEO"
One thing you missed is Oh Il Nam could be 456 real father. Not clear why 456 doesnt remember where he grew up or neighborhood when #1 described the old home n his little boy waiting for his dad or playing at his house.
I can explain why it's not clear, because it's not true. It just wouldn't make sense for him to not immediately point out his childhood home if it was directly in front of him as Il Nam points it out
Notice how in season 2 player 001 is also an insider
Amazing round off an applause ❤👏👏👏👏👏
The part that me messed up the most is when their struggles related to how they died. Ji young, we didn’t see her struggles but she told us that her father killed her mom and she killed her father and she gets killed in squid game.
Ji Yeong*
She wasn't a main character. 456, 001, 101, 218, 067 and the loud one where all main characters. I can't even remember the kids number off the top of my head.
@@wolfmanhcc 240, and id say ali is also a main character-199

240 was most certainly a main character. If she wasn't, we wouldn't have any backstory of her. Get your facts straight.
I completely lost it when 240 died.
"Thanks for playing with me." 😭😭😭
in season 2 or 1 when gi-hun gave his daughter a gift, it was shaped and looked like the death boxes in the game. Inside was a gun that was a lighter. That is a detail to the incinerator
Episode**
It would be season 1. There is no season 2 yet
idk if they said this in squid game but the rank for guards depend on how many angles they have for example square is most powerful bc it has 4 angles and circles have least respect bc it has 0 angles
**I think sorry
Oh thx for telling me!!!
Actually, the most powerful person is the front man, who has a whole lot of angles, so it’s still correct
@@sleeby526 and the fact the facial scanner authenticated said angly mask, shows the rank is more powerful than the mask. Showing everyone is truly equal.
I noticed that too. The more points the more power.
Really interesting, thank you.

Nah nah it's honeyc*m game

But he didn't
@@Harshnagar30 didn't what?
@@velcrostapler5139 didn't die... Even after losing
@@Harshnagar30 well, you have a point.
I have two theories:
1) Remember how the salesman said that we don't have more places left to the main character? That is why he was the last person.
2) The number 456 which is the last number symbolizes that he will the last man standing.
Nope. But he was given 001 by Il-nam, so that meant he's #1.
0:19 perfectly cut scream 😂😂😂
Good observation..u missed one thing
In one episode when food was served to all the participants the old man says the food reminds him of his young days
Well that was some good in cider information and details that I missed my watch now. It was good to see that the old man chose to stop the games and let them choose to come back on their own
1:19 the "bruh" LMAO
What the fuck bro this was the saddest death😢😢
Am I the only one that doesn't see the workers wearing red and the players wearing blue? They're wearing pink and green respectively.🤣
Yes this irritates me! 😤 lol and then she said gray box when they are clearly black and pink??
yes I thought to myself, have I been colorblind and now finding out ? Haha
I really enjoyed Squid Game. After Imade some research I found WW2 concentration camps called the Brother's Welfare in S.Korea. I suggest you who really wants to know abput the inspiration of Squid Game. Btw thank you for this video, enjoyed alot ˆˆ
Ah yes my favorite red light green, honeycum game, tug of War, the glass hopping one, the three at the table, and squid game
Honeycum game is my personal favorite because me and my uncle play it all the time
I have this question if someone can answer: From the series we know that the game was being played since many years (as the police guy saw the archives).
Yea only this year cause he's dieing
@pessimissimo oh yeah now I understand-
it's the bets of the wealthy who watch that sponsor it. it feels like the vip's where not the only ones watching and betting on it. the prize was something equivalent to 42m usd
@@kurtlovef150 and all the past.
@dani cali he had a lighter green outline and his number lit up as well
@@mii_kay4514 The outline isn't technically him being scanned, it's just him being outlined as an outlier.
No.@@Joeysbug
the lighter gun which gi hun gave to his daughter may foreshadow on how the participants will die or how deadly the games will be
IKR?!?!?!?!?!
The plot twists are insane
"While they players wore blue..."
Me: Looking at their teal green tracksuits: ... Ah yes... "blue".
Exactly! She also said that those boxes are grey with pink ribbon. I don't know but I see black box 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Ever watched breaking bad?
Wow! And also the homeless old man that was at the end, he looked exactly as number 1, was like he was watching himself dying in the cold from above in the warm
Mind blowing
Also , not forgetting the significance of number 456…
- G-Hun was player number 456
- G-Hun won 4,560,000 Korean Won in the Horse racing game in episode 1.
- The winning prize money for the Squid Game ended up being 45.6 billion Korean Won
The third point is obvious as only one winner will be there and total 456 players were there. Each player were allotted equal amount.
@@astitva1995 But only 93% of the remainder came back the 2nd time though… 🤔 So I wasn’t sure if it was going to end up being 45.6 Billion Won….
@@LadyLLLL yeah, there is a clue here that those who didn't return were eliminated and their share of money was also added to the prize.
