I can't blame Sang-woo for betraying Ali because Sang-woo is the only person that knows Ali well Not only that it also proves that he wasn't afraid to die in last episode and wanted Gi-hun to help his mother because of his finacials.... If you people hate about sang-woo thats your opinion... But me... He does have a heart.....
I feel like videos and comments like these are needed, when watching you get a one sided perception of things but when you watch videos like these and read comments like these you get a feel for what it's like to see things through someone else's mind
People should stop calling him a monster. If he didn't have a heart, he would have stabbed Gi-hun in the back when he asked for help, and eliminate Sae-byeok so that his final challenge was easy.
If you'r in Sang Woo position. You would let Ali die to save your life too, so Indians here should stop being hypocrite. Its a game between death - live. Sang-woo is right.
Lmao if all he wanted to do was helping his mum why would he have put her property at risk with the bank? Why would he have committed fraud and steal so many ppl? It's easy to find him excuses in the game, but I don't think he ever was a good person. Not evil, but definitively not good. Also y'all forget squid game is a korean series and there is no such thing as individualism in Korea. It's all about the collective before oneself. In western countries it's easy to put ourselves in his shoes, but in South East Asia that's some fucked up behavior to act like he does throughout the show.
I honestly don’t understand why people would dislike his character. Yes, he did Ali and Sae-byeuk dirty but this is a game of life and death, not a place to make friends.
Before watching this video, I thought that Sang-woo was evil for his crimes but after watching this video I can understand his reasoning for killing Sae-Byeok.

He is just a very logical person with literally only one goal left to live. He was suicidal, his only pupose he has left was to prevent misfortune coming for his mother. AND MAKE EVERYONE SAFE THATS WHY HE GAVE THE WIN TO GIN-HUN BECAUSE GIN-HUN NEEDIT MORE THAN HIM SO SANG-WOO IS A NICE MAN AND OUR TRUE HERO DON’T THINK SANG-WOO IS A VILLAIN
Honestly, I would have acted like Sangwoo.. I’m sacrificing everyone that isn’t use to me. He was the only person who made good decisions, although I cried when Ali died we all know they’re is only ONE winner..
Sang woo allowed Gi hun to pick the umbrella even though he knew that shape had a HIGH probability of death. I think Sang woo was playing in survival mode the whole time. Trying not to make enemies or make himself a target, similar to what some players did in the reality show.
He is the best and in fact the most realistic character of them all. When I started watching the show I already knew all the bad things he will do and I thought I will hate him but he is the most relatable and had the best surviving skills of the main characters. I only heard about the bad things he did but no one ever told me how many good things he did for team and his mother too. He really quickly changed my mind and became my favourite character.
There are different personalities portrayed in the show. This is the rational character who sometimes does the necessary evil. Indeed, without him, the "good" characters wouldn't have finished. Ali wouldn't have the guts to push that glass man.
@@aribwaqasbarlas kid srsly mate I really don’t give a shit about someone tellin me about why he did that to Ali i am just rlly sad and I think it’s normal doesn’t mean ur a kid like grow up 🆙
He wanted not to die and to protect the person he loved most from despair. I think more of us would act like him then care to admit it. It’s easy to judge from the outside, but he was put in an impossible situation and forced to make a decision on that basis. So not a villain, nor a hero, just human: complicated. And that’s what made him a great character.
He is helpful in ep 1 but in ep 2 he understands there will be only one winner so you see in ep 3 that he doesn't want to be the one to kill his friend but wont save him anymore.
I don't think that he's evil, bc even tho he betrayed Ali in the marbles game, he didnt had much of a choice. One of them had to die! So he is just a human who made many mistakes but I wouldn't consider him a hero nor a villain! I'd say that he is a good person who just chose the wrong path
If i were in sangwoo position, i would do the same as he did, except in the honeycomb game, i would tell the others because it's too early to loose ally. Or maybe he already figure out that evantually in the end there's may only 1 winner, so he tought better his friend/ally died in the game that not by his hand. In situation like in that game, which the only matter is life & death, not only for sangwoo, but for every each player, there is no right-wrong / good-bad anymore. If play the game & did what sangwoo did & win the game, would i felt : Guilty? Maybe Ashamed? Maybe Sad? Maybe But i will feel all that negative feeling by... Living l my life ...
I wouldn't call Sang Woo a hero lol, he was an antagonist/anti-hero but a very well written one with an understandable motive. I like him because of his depth, and he got hotter the more ruthless and bloodier he got 🔥 And he let Gi Hun win to help his mom which was a nice redeeming moment for him. I'm going to miss him in S2.
Sangwoo was selfish, his actions prove that, it's a fact. Him giving Ali's bus fare show that he's a good human, but it's a game about survival, he killed Ali.. He pushed that man on the glass to save himself, not for everyone in the team. Do you think he'd murder someone if his own life wasn't on the line. He's not a hero jfc that's a sinister narrative
He is not a bad guy. I mean look at the series, he was already depressed and was self-destructive but he still had a good heart like helping ali for bus, food and calls. He's a good guy just was helpless and desperate which made him play the game and once he was in game, he saw nothing but only a way out of misery but when he saw that Gi Hun won, he accepted his defeat because of two reasons one being Gi hun is his best friend and second reason being he knew Gi Hun would definitely help his mother. He wasn't happy killing Sae-Byeok, or betraying Ali. Whatever he did to them it was just he felt he has to. Lastly, he didn't want the game to end because other people's sacrifice i mean those who died it would all go in vain like their sacrifices them losing their lives it would have been for nothing. I never hated the character. He's more like a gray character.
Sang-Woo was a covert narcissist. His friendship with Ali was pure manipulation . Ali's character was loving, but that loving nature also made him naïve. Let us not forget how his previous boss tried to rip Ali off. Like Ali's former boss, Sang-Woo preyed upon him. As for Sang-Woo's suicide, it was because he brought shame onto his family. Even if Sang-Woo had won the money he would have killed himself any ways due to that shame. Yes, Sang-Woo's character does exhibit some level of humanity but that was also shown with all the other character personalities within the story. The Yin and Yang exists within us all; however, when put to the test that is when ones true colors are exposed. The story of the Squid Games sums up the different personality types one will encounter within the game of life. It plays with the concept that even within the most harden and immoral character there was some level of humanity remaining. It makes one question if a persons morals are based solely on an external construct, based on the cards that life has dealt them, verses an internal one. Maybe it's a mixer of both? It's a complex topic but very philosophical indeed! The character development in the Squid Games touches upon the complex 3 dimensional side of human psychology. It was well written!
@@yeah1326 He is, I wouldn’t necessarily say he is all evil but over the course of the series I think the stress of the game and his ambitions and fear got the best of him. He didn’t want to risk admitting his faults to society, he didn’t even tell his mother the truth about his debts. He was a coward that manipulated the trust of others to win the game. The reason he didn’t want to win in the end though is because he already was feeling suicidal before entering the game. Think about it. I don’t know if I would necessarily call him a narcissist but I think he portrayed narcissistic characteristics within the course of the series.
He was the MVP of the show. Did the dirty work for Gi Hun, told him to get up and start moving in game 1. Without Sang Woo Gi Hun doesn't even get saved by Ali. Sang Woo brought up the vote leading to 10+ people leaving and never going back to the game, they're still alive. If Sang Woo didn't think of that clutch move in tug of war or didn't push the glassmaker, everyone dies. Gi Hun winning with massive amounts of money and a vendetta against the games, and already taking one of the SG cards means 1 more life saved, and many more to be saved, arguably because of Sang Woo.
These are very good points, but I still think Sang-Woo is EVIL. First of all, when he "saved" the team in tug of war, he could've been doing it for himself. If the team died, he died as well. And still, killing Sae-Byeok was wrong. She could've survived and gone to a doctor once the games were over. Sang-Woo should've given her more of a chance. Plus, on that glass bridge when he "saved" everyone by killing the man in front of him, he still probably did it for himself. If the man didn't decide at all, Sang-Woo would've died as well. If Sang-Woo really was a hero, I feel like he should've gone in front of the man instead of pushing him. When Sang-Woo killed himself in the final game, he probably knew that he wouldn't survive anyway. If he did, he'd have to tell his mother where the prize money came from, thus leading to the fact that he'd have to admit to her that he was in debt. Lastly, Sang-Woo betrayed Ali, he still did it for himself. I see that he offered the marble to Ali, but when Ali refused, Sang-Woo must've thought that Ali wanted Sang-Woo to win instead of him, or something like that. And yes, he did bond with Ali, which makes the betrayal even worse since I'm sure no one would do that to their close friend. (Man, I feel like I wrote an entire essay XD) I can see that Sang-Woo has human qualities and wanted Gi-hun to help his mother, but that's still no excuse for what he did.
Ok but tbh I would’ve done the same thing cus only one person can win through the end. How is it selfish for him saving his team in tug of war only for “himself “ when they’re all fighting for survival for also themselves? Doesn’t that make them all selfish ?
Let me be honest. What sang woo did still did benifit others and the reason he killed himself is because he REGRETS everything he did. He knows what he did was wrong. But he is the most realistic character.
Sang Woo is my favorite character because his character is realistic. Let's be honest, though I help people but I would never sacrifice my life for a game. If I had to choose between Ali and myself. I would choose to live and sacrifice him, however, I know his death would remain in my conscience forever. Sang Woo is the walking definition of "survival of the fittest". Sangwoo is a good player as he had killed himself at the end for his best friend, pushed off the player on the bridge if not they all die, killed Sae Byeok as she suffered and Ali he knew he wouldn’t make also knowing that he had to kill his new friend like his little brother
Convinced he ain’t actually dead
He killed little whaaaaaaaaaaaat
@@marioman1995 no, sang woo killed himself because he knew that if they ended the game they would go empty handed
Calling him “evil” is really unfair when everything he does is just to survive these death games.
I can't blame Sang-woo for betraying Ali because Sang-woo is the only person that knows Ali well
Not only that it also proves that he wasn't afraid to die in last episode and wanted Gi-hun to help his mother because of his finacials....
If you people hate about sang-woo thats your opinion... But me... He does have a heart.....
I feel like videos and comments like these are needed, when watching you get a one sided perception of things but when you watch videos like these and read comments like these you get a feel for what it's like to see things through someone else's mind
Ya right
People should stop calling him a monster.

Every time someone bad mouths Sang Woo I defend him. Looks like the cast likes this character her too.
He has some sociopathic traits and I would definitely not describe him as selfless, this is a callous person who has a victim count, but I cannot condemn him for anything he did in the games. And I understand some of it what he did outside of it.
How is he sociopathic? Literally qny rational human being would behave like him In a death game.Literally none of us knows what we would do in a life or death situation with alot of strangers
@@hinamatsuro1908 Because he's a criminal, I don't know if you noticed. As I said, of course people will fight for themselves, but he was already natural at it.
@@LazarL because he does fraud hes a sociopath? Lmao. If he was then why would he think of suicide intead of taking other people's life? Why only after the game starts that he started killing? Why save Gihun in the first place? If hes selfish as you said then why concern about Ali a complete stranger & Gihun? Its clearly shown that he qenuinely felt bad doing what he did. He is just a very logical person with literally only one goal left to live. He was suicidal, his only pupose he has left was to prevent misfortune coming for his mother. Ali, Glass guy & Saebyeok was clearly the obstacle he has to go through if he wanted to help his mother. Otherwise theres no point he's there, all for absolultely nothing, he should have killed himself in the tub if if he had decided to not kill people that most likely gonna die anyway & throw the game. He did what he did to survive. Also he could've waited till the last 10 sec to push the glass guy & be the only survivor, yet he rushes it, letting people behind him pass as well. But he didnt cuz he still cares for Gihun as a friend.
@@Haz1Art Nothing he has ever done in that show was ever because he felt something for other people. He's a callous person, people are just an investment to him.
@@LazarL No, he truly does care for people. That's why he had doubts about not helping people (i.e. Honeycomb). In the long run, he did what we all would have tried to do: survive. He entered the game like everyone else, wanting to win and knowing he was gonna have to kill everyone. He just realized it before the others.
Sang woo was the most realistic written person the whole series
I agree to all your reasons except at 9:02 He did not want the games to continue when he proposed the consent clause, he wanted it to continue only after seeing the price money.

Honestly, I would have acted like Sangwoo.. I’m sacrificing everyone that isn’t use to me. He was the only person who made good decisions, although I cried when Ali died we all know they’re is only ONE winner..
He made horrible decisions. If his decisions were good enough he'd have won the game.
@@pietart3596 he was so close too
Sang woo allowed Gi hun to pick the umbrella even though he knew that shape had a HIGH probability of death. I think Sang woo was playing in survival mode the whole time. Trying not to make enemies or make himself a target, similar to what some players did in the reality show.
He isn’t a “hero” more of an ordinary human being willing to do whatever it takes
Imagine people can fight their opponent in the fourth game, Ali Abdul will win, he can hold Seong Gi-hun with only 3 fingers
I wouldnt go so far calling him a hero, just a very complicated man who made rational decisions, no matter how good or bad
To be fair the glass factory guy was taking forever so of course he’s gonna push him
He’s also the most realistic

Tbh he wasn’t really “evil”, yes he may sound a little selfish in a way but he did it for a reason. “tRuSt tHe pRocEsS”
The Glassmaker kinda got what he deserved for letting everyone die just so the competition would thin out.
Sang-woo is the man
The man if squid game 🦑 🎮
There are different personalities portrayed in the show. This is the rational character who sometimes does the necessary evil. Indeed, without him, the "good" characters wouldn't have finished. Ali wouldn't have the guts to push that glass man.

He’s not a hero, he’s not a villain, he’s just a neutral character.

What a way to start off a video! "Why is he a good person? Well, first of all, he killed himself." 😂😂

I always had SangWoo chi as a favorite character
Sangwoo was selfish, his actions prove that, it's a fact. Him giving Ali's bus fare show that he's a good human, but it's a game about survival, he killed Ali.. He pushed that man on the glass to save himself, not for everyone in the team. Do you think he'd murder someone if his own life wasn't on the line. He's not a hero jfc that's a sinister narrative

HE KILLED PEOPLE IN THE GAMES
For not himself alone🙄
@@unpleasantatemypetcat watch the video
@@unpleasantatemypetcat But he killed him self for MoM and sybok brother😭
He's not a narcissist

Sang-woo is a hero U agree or not ❤️💜💙💗
Ok but I swear I almost had a break down when I saw them out Kang Sae-Byeok in the coffin-
Sang Woo's character was realistic, not heroic.
No he's hero
I can't wait for squid game part two EEK!
His actions seem completely justified, and any sane and wise person would think about saving themselves when stuck In a life or death situation
The relationship between Ali and Sang-Woo is just, wow so family like 😔
These are very good points, but I still think Sang-Woo is EVIL.
(Man, I feel like I wrote an entire essay XD)
I can see that Sang-Woo has human qualities and wanted Gi-hun to help his mother, but that's still no excuse for what he did.
Ok but tbh I would’ve done the same thing cus only one person can win through the end. How is it selfish for him saving his team in tug of war only for “himself “ when they’re all fighting for survival for also themselves? Doesn’t that make them all selfish ?
saebyeok couldve died anyways
Let me be honest. What sang woo did still did benifit others and the reason he killed himself is because he REGRETS everything he did. He knows what he did was wrong. But he is the most realistic character.
