Even though this isn’t Steve at his best, being sick, he kills it. Please do more Journey!
Steve had the flu during this concert. Even so he was amazing. Should check out Open Arms live Houston 1981
I couldn’t help but chuckle in the beginning when you said “You can tell he has a powerful voice.” I was thinking “ You have NO idea!”
This was a concert from Japan 1983. Steve Perry, the lead singer, had a really bad cold/flu. The song is from their Escape album, 1981.
This performance doesn't do Steve Perry justice. He is deservedly called "The Voice". I suggest "Faithfully", "Separate Ways", and "Send Her My Love."
Yeah, you can't tell he's sick on the other songs from this concert, but he's sounding a bit scratchy and nasal on this one. I do like the variations he did on this one.
I think Steve is the greatest rock singer.
Steve Perry, the voice, had a bad flu at this concert, and yet he sang better than most will ever be able to. You have to see / hear him when he is in full form and that was certainly at the “Escape” concert. Watch that song again and you'll see what he could really do. Definitely from the same concert “Mother Father” a masterpiece.
Steve Perry the lead singer was known as "The Voice" and I think you can see why! You to dive deep into Journey. You will not be disappointed. Check out Don't Stop Believing from the Escape Tour in Houston it will blow your mind. Love your reaction!
Wheel in the Sky from the Midnight Special is phenomenal. It’s late 70’s but it is so amazing.
This was a Japanese tour and Steve came down with the flu and he still slayed it! The story is he went to see a doctor and the Doc. Gave him a cocktail remedy so that he could perform all concerts in Japan. He is a true GOAT!
As others have mentioned, "Mother, Father" live from Houston is an absolute vocal tour de force by Perry.
Should've done live in Houston. Steve was sick as a dog during this performance. Not saying he didn't sing amazing under the circumstances... but the Houston performance, he was at peak performance. Philadelphia was another great live show you can pull songs from.
Steve Perry is known as "The Voice"
Ooh, you just hoped your crush would ask you to dance during Open Arms. The ultimate rock ballad.
be sure to check out 1996 When You Love a Woman.Official HD Video. His voice is so good.
Yes, they are still alive and Mr. Perry is going strong.
Try the studio version it is stellar
My favourite singer. The version from Houston 1981 - when he wasn't sick - is even better.
singing killer with vocal fatigue. He still pulled it off. One of the best ever voices of rock.
Listen to the LIVE version of their song Mother Father. Best LIVE vocals I've ever heard.
He IS a PHENOMENAL Vocalist..
Nice Reaction Polo!
It's clear to me that Steve Perry had training in opera, the power in his voice makes me think that.
His parents were both Portuguese singers. I can hear that Mediterranean influence. He’d be a great flamenco singer.
I love Jouney. I saw them in 81 with Steve Perry. Phenominal show ❤
Thanks Polo!
Steve Perry will always be my favorite singer!!
I saw him solo in Detroit and twice with Journey (also in Detroit). Rock n Roll bands love Detroit because we love them back!
Find a recording/video of “Dixie Highway”. Jazzy, bluesy, and rock n roll. Steve and Journey wrote it to honor a road that runs north of Detroit to Florida.
Steve Perry's voice "Angelic" Nothing like it in music history.
Beautiful
Check out Journey Mother Father live in Houston the vocal acrobatics are incredible ❤
He had the flu. The Houston concert is the one you need to watch.
The Voice ❤
Couldn’t find a worse recording. Oops.
If you like Journey, then you will love Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing", "Walk of Life" or "Money for Nothing".
I remember hearing this on the radio when it was released and being blown away. At 7 I was hooked!!! Been a Steve Perry fan since.
His vocal hero is Sam Cooke ❤
This song was huge at our middle school dances!!
It's almost a crime you're just not hearing this song..you definitely need to check out more journey!!!
Do a Reaction to Journey with lead Singer Steve Perry there Escape Tour Live in Houston 1981, this Houston Concert was there best performance. Songs like " Don't Stop Believin " Stone in Love " Girl Can't Help it " Open Arm's " Who's Crying Now " Mother Father " Escape " Stay Awhile " Lights.
Steve was sick with the flu during this concert
Best vocals in Rock 1. Freddie Mercury 2. Steve Perry ❤ Change my mind! 😊
LOU GRAMME
You really appreciate the finer aspects of this band and music in general. Good job.
❤❤Steve❤❤
I agree with the others who said react to "Can't Stop Believing" from Houston.
Back when they cared about the music and the fans
Autotune? We don't need no stinkin" Autotune!
He is way better than this I promise do more!
♥️
He is way better than this I promise do more! Also check out Mother Father in Houston live performance
Dancing to this stuff at school dances was way too much for my hormones.
Hey Polo! Please react to Divine Moments of Truth by Shpongle. Knowing your taste in music, I will eat my shoe if you don’t like this!
Again, something wrong with anyone who doesn’t connect with and love this song. If you think his voice is off listen to a non live version. Concerts live are diff.
Listen to the album version or a better live one. This isn’t Steve at his best.
