@Produce Like A Pro, I currently own one of my dream guitars and lost the other to a woman with a drug habit. The one that I lost was a Les Paul Slash Signature Series LP with a tobacco sunburst finish. The fatter neck worked well for my large hands. The other dream guitar that I own is my current #1 guitar is the Gretsch Tim Armstrong Electromatic guitar. It’s the first guitar that I’ve ever owned with a zero fret. The design of the guitar is so that you will still have feedback, but a more favorable feedback.
I played my first Revstar a couple days ago on a trip to Sweetwater’s campus in Fort Wayne. These guitars are worth every bit of praise that they’re getting.
Nippon Gakki - founded 1887! Older than Gibson. Way older than Fender. Not older than Martin, but nobody's knock-off musical instrument manufacturer. Great innovators.
That is a amazing guitar! It looks like Yamaha can do no wrong, their piano's and synthesizers/keyboards are equally amazing and don't get me started on their hi fi products, always sounding good, yet affordable. Don't know about their motor bikes, but I bed their great to. Great video Warren!
Have a 500-dollar LTD Viper 256 that I feel the same way about. I had to switch out the pickups, but other than that, it just feels amazing. Very slinky and the neck is flawless. Whoever glued that neck did an absolute perfect job. I have a few guitars that are 5 times the price, but nothing comes close to how that Viper feels. Goes to show you dont need to spend 1000's of dollars for a fantastic playing instrument. Thanks Warren.
Warren- I have been watching you for years and you've helped me with your Pro Tools training in so many ways. I knew of your accomplishments as a producer-engineer but didn't know Brother Warren - you're one of the hottest guitar players out there!
This is to the Les Paul to what Super Strats are to the regular stratocasters imo. It fixes some of the player issues while still remaining its own thing. I also love the bodyshape. Love the review!
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it. I’m a HUGE fan of value for money! I’ve played Yamaha guitars for many years now because they continually deliver on quality and value for money!!
Awesome video! I'm loving what Yamaha did with these Revstars. Have you gotten the chance to use the standard model with P90s? I'm torn between purchasing an element and a standard with P90s. I'm intrigued by these two specifically because they cover a lot of ground. The Element with it's high pass filter covers both high and low tones (humbucker & simulated strat). The P90 Standard essentially covers the same ground with it's "Focus" switch, essentially turning the P90s into humbuckers at the flip of a switch. I'm torn between the two, but the main reason I'm straying from the Standard is the passive hum/buzz that's natural in P90s. May I hear some of your thoughts on this topic?
Really sweet guitar and, as Rod Stewart would say, you wear it well. I've always found Yamaha to make great guitars for wonderful bargains. My favorite Yamaha is the SG2000. Wish they still made them,
Thank you, these finger exercises are very helpful for a guitar noob like me! I recently bought YAMAHA PAC612, which is in the same price range as RSE20, and I'm quite liking it 😃
The RSE20 is the Element entry level model out of the 3 new Revstars. Should be in shops in the US for about $500. In the UK it is only £380. Incredible.
Thanks for the great info Warren! It's great when a product gets that kind of endorsement from someone with your level of experience in the music business!!
I bought the RSS20, RSS02, and the RSE20. These guitars are excellent value, ergonomic, perfectly balanced, play beautifully, sound great, and stay in tune. Total LP and SG killers in my opinion. The finishes are impeccable too.
Awesome channel! I bought my grandson a beginner acoustic guitar and he is hooked! He's 9 yo with a strong desire to learn and master the guitar. I think your channel will be a major learning tool for him so thank you for your work and sharing your skill set.
I just bought one (it arrives tomorrow) for £322 inc tax, shipping etc. Brand new, the reason it's going so cheap is because everybody hates the colour (I assume). Neon yellow! But I like it a lot!
Saving up for a Yamaha SG. I have the earlier p90 version of the revstar and it is so good and articulate. I have vintage Yamaha organs and prefer Yamaha two stroke Enduro outboards to any other.
They've been out of stock for awhile, and I'm very critical of some basic QC items. So I've been waiting for Sweetwater to get them back in stock. Snagged an Element model in black that weighs 7lbs.13ozs. It's the best $500 dollar guitar around. I had a vision for it, and modified it quite heavily. I've dubbed it the DEATHSTAR! Things just ridiculous now.
I am afraid it would be totaly wasted on me, 69yrs old and arthritis in hands, but in the past two guitars that blew me away were a 1965 LP gold top....and a SG 2000..I would have sold my soul for either after playing them, did some recording with the SG2000...right now I use a Harley B Tele...but with 7's on so I can still play.......nice playing and I envy the winner....and their fingers........
I missed out on the previous Revstar range and I'm waiting for the new range to restock in my state but the wait is killing me , I don't want to miss out on this range.
The first guitar I bought myself was a used Yamaha FG ,160 maybe? I loved that instrument, it was practically perfect in every way. I'd catch my Dad playing it often actually. It's good to hear Yamaha is still producing quality. That would be a great working guitar in any collection. May the best starving musician win!
Great playing. I especially love the Jerry Donahue double bends! I recently got the SS fret left handed Revstar. So much fun but I like the sound of the cheaper model more. now out of stock and possibly discontinued
Solid video, thanks! Really explained the high pass filter well. I definitely want to try one of these out. I’ve got 2 Yamaha acoustics and they’re great. May need to add an electric now!
Awesome to hear you love it so much Warren. I'm a huge fan of Yamaha too - they make up most of my collection :-) Great playing, really enjoyed it! Also, kudos on not cleaning the heck out of the guitar - the smudges and pick wear don't lie haha.
Holy crap man .. brilliant guitar playing ... been watching these vids for a while but I didn't realize ... The production concepts, yeah .. but didn't quite realize your playing ability ... Bad ass stuff.
The RSE20 is currently £419 on andertons. Are you sure this wasn't the RSS20 which is £679 GBP? I thought in another video you say you bought the RSS20. Is there any difference in tone?
Yamaha is definitely the king of bang for your Buck in the world of guitars! It’s amazing that this is actually the budget model in the RevStar lineup! I’m not sure if there’s any other maker that gives you so much for a mere $500.00 these days.
Isn't a high pass basically what the "strangle switch" in a Jaguar does? I agree that it probably makes more sense on an HB equipped guitar, but just mentioning to point out that it has been done before.
@UCgAHbtcI9QZzYcxXFZJdegQ Hey Warren-It's Brian Zastoupil-I acknowledge my prize. Do you need an address? AKA Luminous Brilliance, aka Lord Bronco, etc? But Seriously, the lightweight chambered electric-It's Brilliant-thank Yamaha no matter what.

My old Yamaha Pacifica with Maple neck. Was stolen in a burglary 😪 For exactly the same reason. 1 guitar for everything. Miss it terribly 🙄 If anyone has one they aquired used. Just pop the back plate off and see if it's signed 🤔
Certainly a very nice sounding and looking guitar Warren and on the subject of great value guitars that sound and look far more expensive than their price tag I have just purchased the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson cherry burst Hummingbird. I already have far too many guitars but as soon as I tried this one out I had to have it. I have a Gibson and a Martin both lovely guitars but in my opinion the Hummingbird beats them both for tone and playability. As with the Yamaha you don't have to pay a fortune for a lovely instrument these days.
5:58 - Sounds like you're channelling Eddie there in that "slinky" bit, Warren! 😉 ...LOL, and I have to straight away think of the silly 'Slinky™' scene in the 2nd 'Ace Ventura' movie 😆 Anyway, your playing is great, mate! 😊👍
I used to have MIJ G&L tribute S-500. It has 2 master tone control, one high cut and one low cut. Too bad I've sold it. I mean I'm not really into the current Tribute.
@Produce Like A Pro, first, love your content Warren. Second, I entered for this guitar. It may offer something different for my music, who knows. Usually, when I record and perform, I used Gretsch guitars (Tim Armstrong Electromatic and Streamliner). I’ve also seen Brenna Red from the great punk band The Last Gang using this guitar recently after she had been playing Teles for years. There’s got to be a reason.
Yamaha Revstar RSE20 had AlNiCo II magnets. The AlNiCo Vs sound too harsh and spiky to my ears; whilst the AlNiCo II magnets are warmer-sounding and balanced just right.
I own the standard series on this model and play everything from doom, metal, rock, clean parts and ambient completely stock, stock pickup and everything. Probably my favorite guitar I own right now. I could see myself switching to Lundgren pickup in the future. I love Lundgrens in all the guitars I've ever used them in.
I wish the purple+P90s model in the current Revstar line had that 'dry' switch instead of the 'focus' switch, which seems to be more of a mid boost. I'd be all over that.
I had taken my headphones off to talk to a child and only caught from 2:14 where you called it a tap, nbd though it was obviously just a slip of the tongue.
I heard and recorded this guitar in the studio during a recording session. Now i know why it sounded so good. The guitar player who brought it was playing jazz, country, rock and blues and i said to him. I bet you only use this one guitar everywhere and he said yes due to it's versatility. This is a legendery guitar.

A Hydra Style EVH, Randy Rhoads, Sting guitar... with a mini keyboard at the spot Vai put his Harp... yes... I'm crazy! Lol

Yamaha YC45D. Too many guitars and basses to choose from.
A les paul that stays in tune

Fantastic! Had? You don't still have it?
Now, 7 months after, would you still like the RSE20 if you have tested the RSS20 HB? I'm pondering of buying the latter within a half year's time.
