Derek Draper dead: Kate Garraway pays tribute to late husband ‘I was lucky to have you in my life’

- Kate Garraway's husband tragically died holding her hand following a four-year battle with Covid, the presenter announced today.
Derek Draper, 56, was recently left fighting for life in hospital after suffering a massive heart attack.
Kate revealed she held Derek's hand as he passed away in a moving Instagram post today.
She wrote: "I’m sad to have to tell you all that my darling husband Derek has passed away.
"As some of you may know he has been critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December which, because of the damage inflicted by Covid in March 2020, led to further complications.
"Derek was surrounded by his family in his final days and I was by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed.

Many have struggled and many are still struggling with the after effects of covid and many have lost their life due to covid. May our hearts and prayers go out to each and everyone of them and their families.❤

Noone says that COVID doesn't exist. COVID is proven to attack by joining forces of underlying illnesses, COVID doesn't kill on it's own. This man already had many other health issues that made it easier for COVID to keep him from recovering.

The part about Derek waking up each morning to the realisation, once again, that he's "trapped" is heart-breaking and terrifying.
This has made me feel so, so sad. What a phenomenal family, my heart breaks for them. Rest easy Derek, you will be missed so much by your loved ones 🙏

I have to say that I agree. She is now taking time off because he's passed. Why didn't she take time off when he was alive and treasure every moment with a very unwell husband?

@@christinedavis5813 He contracted SARS-CoV-2 right at the beginning of the pandemic a year before the vaccine was available.
And that was the whole point of his illness being reported on TV. Derek had existing health issues that made covid more dangerous for him, plus the treatments he received were in actual fact counterproductive and even deadly. The vast majority of covid cases were not like this it was very much, thankfully, the exception not the norm yet it was presented to you every day to scare you into complying. It worked!
