- Small and ratty tanks fit my War Thunder playstyle perfectly, but there's one light tank destroyer I haven't played yet. That would be the Japanese Type 60 SPRG. This HEAT slinger can easily sneak around and ambush heavy tanks like the King Tiger, though its stowage capacity is quite limited.

Just enough front armour to stop APDS fired by autocannons, and insanely fast to flank around. It's a beast alright.

since you said the ratel 90 wasn't bad, you should play the objectively awful ratel version; the ratel 20. it has the same bad mobility as the 90, but with the same weapons as the marder IFV, which doesn't sound bad at first, until you realise you're expected to fight king tigers and jumbo pershings with 7 MILANs and an autocannon that can't even pen a panther's side (day 2)

Japan really trolls you at 6.7. You get two of almost the exact same medium tank you just played at 6.3, but now you fight 7.7 with them. You get a near-useless missile carrier that's worse than every other 6.7 missile carrier in every way. Then you get one of the best light vehicles and SPGs in the entire game, and it's an absolute blast, worth playing the lineup by itself.
Real and true. Tbh the Type 60 is so good that for a while I used it in my main lineup at 8.3 still.
The ST-As were sooo painful to grind through that I just ditched them all together and just played with the Type 60 and the M41.
On the plus side, once you get through them the STB and the Type 74s are really good for the tier.
It's the lack of armor for a "medium" tank for me. Once you get HEAT they aren't bad vehicles because they'er quick, but you're right. Fuck that missile carrier.

@@blank7652 ST-A series does indeed have terrible armor. Only redeeming factor is the long range zoom sights but 90mm HEAT-FS dropoff makes it annoying to snipe with.

As someone with like 1400 kills in the R3T106, bind the launchers separately on your left and right mouse keys, it works so much better.
i put the scoped mode on my right mouse key but i do have secondary barrel firing bound to my side mouse key.

@@SadisNic i also have the short brake button bound to the 4th mouse button on the side. In case i want to stop smoothly.
theres an easier method if you still want to use your right click for something else. Just separate your controls for "fire from main calibre", "secondary guns" and "special guns". Then you can just use one key on "Select secondary weapon" to switch which gun youre firing with the normal key youve set for firing ie left click (You dont even have to set a key for "select primary weapon"). Entirely negating the double shot problem too unless you hold left click while switching.
Alternating fire between the barrels is a pretty good habit, too, since they reload independently. It means that in a pinch you can keep up a pretty fantastic rate of fire, and also means that you should always be able to fire a second shot instantly if your first shot doesn’t do what you need it to. Can’t do that if you’ve already depleted the ammunition for one rifle.
Fun fact, the Type 60 SPRG's little turret is supposed to be able to be lowered like in many IRL pictures of it, where it can still traverse and fire albeit with a smaller gun arc.

Play the triple rat loadout. Wiesel 1A4, Wiesel 1A2 and the Ozelot
Not sure why you're double barreling. I have Mouse 1 set to "Fire from main calibre gun" and Mouse 2 set to "Fire from secondary guns", it always fire one at a time, regardless of the order. You might have Mouse 1 set for both, check your bindings.
spookston is probably using bindings but for swapping/selecting weapons instead of firing from specific weapons. The weapon selecting is helpful with stuff like the M3 Lee tank but spookston really should use the secondary gun keybind for things like this Type 60. I use the side mouse button instead of mouse 2.

I use to use primarily HESH way back before it was nerfed. It used to be more effective than HEAT.
You know, there is an option to fire your second gun without selecting it. It's called 'Fire from Secondary Guns,' and if you assign it to anything other than your left mouse button, it will prevent it from firing along with your main weapon.
Don't forget that Recoiless guns like thoses have Machingun for telemeter. The 50 cal have the same velocity as the HEAT, so you can use the machineguns to guess distance.

The accidental double-barrel shots are why I bound LMB to fire primary and RMB to fire secondary. Also makes baiting easier on tanks like the M6, at lets me save my cannon rounds when flying planes that have both MGs and cannon.

would love to see some Ostwind gameplay. that thing at 3.3 is a total menace. extremely easy to aim for aircraft and the APHE 1 shots often, amazing all rounder and protects you from CAS

The type 60 compared to other recoilless rifle vehicles has durability of all things. The 3 crew member goes a long way and it is surprising resistant to mg fire.

Fun fact: the Type 60, along with a few other double barrel tanks (excluding SPAA) are all missing 2 extra shots as the Type 60 currently has 10 rounds; 2 loaded and 8 stored when there is 12 (2 loaded+10 stored). Not only is the 2 missing storage missing, it is literally modeled, but spaghetti code means you'll always have 2 storages just empty when they could be more ammo.
I sincerely request you to play the Tiger II 105 at top-tier as a challenge. It should be interesting. Am I right?
Now. Imagine how much more ratty this thing would be if you could lower and lift the guns in position with hydraulics like it can in real life.

if you dont want to double barrel, rebind the secondary key so it does not shoot while shooting main gun. You can also bind a button to shoot secondary without switching to it.

Here it a tip for double barrels. If you have side buttons on your mouse. Unbind Secondary Fire and rebind it to one of your side buttons. You'll never double fire with one click again. Spook has either forget to unbind left click from secondary or is using the gun switch method, which is still good, but overall slower and leads to double shooting accidents.

With the Type 60 done, I have a couple other recommendations for Japan. For the light tanks, the Ke-Ni, with the recent buff to it's mobility, it's still kinda crazy. For mediums, the Chi-Ri II, because it's autoloader is goofy, especially on a 150 ace crew, since the autoloader somehow gets faster, as fast as 3.3 seconds, when a high enough tank loader is on crew. For tank destroyers, the Na-To. I don't see many people talk about it, even though it's basically a Chi-To but casemate. Last but not least, AA in the SUB-I-II, because it swims and I played a game recently where I shredded FOUR (4) Panthers because they didn't angle against the SUB-I-II's APDS and got second on the team from it. I also didn't die that match, confusingly enough.

I find it wild that this is at 6.7 while the Italian R3 with the same 2 canons is at 8.0. Yes the R3 is faster and has full horizontal rotation, but it doesn’t have as much depression or elevation speed. The R3 should be at a higher br but not 8.0.

Day 128 You should play a tank with hydropneumatic suspension (recommend the MBT-70) But the catch is you have to drop the suspension as low as it can go for the whole match.

My advice for the type 60, when i had to use this in the tree, i just have primary bound to left click and secondary to right so i could just use separate barrels easily

As an old japanese main this and the ho ri prototype associated with type 75 SPH on the same lineup is devastating, one of my favorite one, that also work well in arcade even im not an arcade fan its one of the rare line up i enjoy to play in arcade

Day 23 of telling spookston to play the IT1. its a ATGM launcher on the t62 chassis, it has decent-ish mobility, the turret is squished. You can hide behind cover and shoot ATGM over the cover like a gremlin and you overpressure tanks (tho it can be rare, but it does happen without you realizing) and its MG is really werid. Also it has a cool reload animation.
Rat tanks and anti air tank destroyers are some of the best videos on this channel.
The problem of this tank is, that when you get uptiered, you play against other rats like XM800T, Fox, BTR-80. Most of the times, you meet with them cause both are flanking. The turret rotation speed is very bad and also, when you lose your loader, the reload is pretty tragic. But in a downtier, its a different animal. This and Ontos, are the predators of tigers.
Another fun light Japanese vehicle whos name starts with "Type" is the Type 87 RCV so you should totally play it

I agree it's absolutely insane, I got a nuke with it last week camping a capture point and just blasting and scouting everyone
I do not have that thing but I am researching it rn, but I do have the authority to say this since i played the R3 T106, never ever only dump one guns ammo at a time, it sucks to only have one gun in use constantly, just use one after the other so you always have another shell at your disposal incase you miss the first one or dont one shot, all the time i used to dump the first five than the next barrels one, and I’d always get killed cause the other gun was out of ammo and the other missed or didnt do crap, so just try to keep both ammo numbers even

Type 60 if used by the right player could spell disaster for enemy team. One time in Mozdok I found a spot where I can see over the hill through binocs and thanks to the rather poor ballistics of the shell, I can kill basically anyone without even showing myself over the hill
Another vehicle that’s sort of rat like is the Jpz 4-5. It’s fast, low to the ground and has a decent cannon, especially for 6.3
In this vehicle I think I'm being so small and sneaky but people still see me from kilometers away.
