I have the original DJI Mavic Air. That also had the facility to fly it with gesture mode..with out using the controller or phone. It could also be controlled by the phone alone, without the controller.. it was really useful and I’m surprised that DJI didn’t keep gesture and phone control with the later Mavic and Mini drones. This HoverAir looks more useful in some ways as it’s so compact and easy to use…its price seems a bit high however..Thanks for the video..much enjoyed!

I have Mavic Pro when it 1st came out. That thing builds like a tank as all Dji drones, but never find it practical as just a hobbyist. So it mostly sits in the corner of my room, gathering dusts with occasional flying for family reunions or shoot photogrametry. Never like the setup process on any prosumer drones. This Hover X1 looks like a personal camera man, 10 minutes of flying is really long for what I would take for my social media. I like it, thinking heavily to get one. Thank you for your video insight

Benefit is it's not like learning to drive which is what flying a drone is with it's steep learning curve. If grandma can do it, so can I. Some countries may expect a drone license for this. Thank for the review of this interesting and simple little gadget.

HoverAir can thank you for making a sale with me. Amazing little device. Price is still too high at this point even with an $80 coupon. $479 w/extra battery and charger.
I thought it might be a one-off thing at first but with the update, it makes much more sense and usability. Price has become more justified with new functions. Was going with Mini 3 Pro but so many drone issues and seriously possible outright ban, this is a viable best choice. Thank you for a really enjoyable review and excellent tutorial. You're the best. I'm going back to your other 2 HoverAir videos and do some catching up. Thanks!
You are very welcome. You are going to like it and yes it takes away that responsibility you get with bigger drones. This thing is very safe and you can fly it indoors as well.. just avoid flying it over water and snow
Cool little drone you have. I love drones too yet after finding out I needed a part 107 lic from the US gov in order to accept payment/gratuity I had to switch to other media devices myself. For close up shots that mimic the drone I invested in a Insta360 x3. Not as many Karens come out with a 9 ft selfie pole as I get with the drones. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

You have to check the laws in your country…. Here in Canada no registration or insurance needed for this one

So cool!! Let's hope they improve the optics/oversharpening in the next version. I just ask it gets to the quality where its "usable" 😅. I'm not asking for miracles! I do really like though that they seem committed toimproving and updating the device! That says a lot about the company. It's the least they could do, as they are selling this thing like hot cakes!!
Yes I am hoping for that too. I use color.io to soften the look and I use it on smartphone footage too
I bought one of these but ultimately returned it. The pros of it (beautifully presented by yourself) are great. It’s compact, its programming is solid and the video quality is ‘reasonable’. However, the cost compared to function isn’t warranted. It cannot handle more than a very light breeze, it’s terrifyingly noisy, the batteries drain fast and if 4K is your standard (it is for me) you will feel let down outside of ‘normal’ use, that is, selfie and close follows/dolly.
If it was half the price and the resolution not quite so important to me I would have kept it based on the merits described, but if anyone is looking to make use of something like this I would personally suggest a DJI Micro 3 as a starter. Secondhand they are not far off the price for the Hover with extra batteries (a must) and you will get far more bang for your buck.
Yes, and you are right with everything. I mentioned all that in my past videos. It is for a specific group of people and one of them is me because I always felt highly uncomfortable flying and normal GPS drone.

Great review. Thanks a lot! I have one question: can you make a sequence with the phone so you dont have to use gestures to change the mode the Drone is flying in? Like for example it flies 3minutes "Birds Eye" and switches after 1 minute to "Zoom in and Out" and afterwards goes back for 2 minutes to "Birds Eye" without me having to "tell" this to the drone by gestures, kind of pre-describe the modes and its lenghts in the App before? This would help me a lot because when you play music for example you cannot make gestures at the same time or I would have have a person to control the Modes for me. Thank you so much for a quick answer and keep up the nice reviews 🙂
Unfortunately it is not possible. Yes, you would have to have another person to do that …
Hi Zdenka,I have a few questions ,what are your thoughts on backpack/travelling and editing with the x1Hover and the insta 360 gGo3?,can you easily download all footage to your phone and edit without the need of a computer?, as I don't want to lug around the extra weight in my backpack. I know your an experienced camera travel junkie so would really appreciate some honest and sound advice please.What are I thoughts good/bad

I don’t think it should be an issue…. It is best to try it first though locally before you actually take it somewhere on the trip. Only you will know if that works for you or not… I would be ok with that setup
I always look forward to a Zdenka video. You have a reassuring presence and I feel you speak directly to me. Now, down to practical things: How fast will this thing go? Reason why is, I have 2 channels, one is for motorbikes and I was wondering if this would keep up at slow speeds. If not, it would still have many uses and also for my photography channel. Also, I'm guessing that as it's not a drone, you don't need a licence? ps It's Jestures, not Guestures if that helps

I think you can have it fly around the car. I would be cautious though as it is not recommended to fly it over uneven surfaces such as table and the ground. I tried it and it fell….

Hi Bo, I don't have one of these yet but I've watched several reviews. Not sure if it would orbit a moving car but as far as speed goes the maximum claimed top speed is 7m/s or 25km/h which is about 15-16 mph. PS. Morgans are one of my favourite cars. I wrote to the factory as a 13-year old almost 50 years ago to find out their prices.😊
Zdenka, do you know if I have to have an FAA pilot's license to fly the Hover Air for use in my videos? I’m not selling any of the footage. I understand wedding videographers must have FAA licenses.
I am not sure about USA laws but here in Canada no….. I would check with someone from USA who knows 100%

♿️🇨🇦 if you can answer a question for me, it would help my purchased decision. I'm living with quadriplegia so I can't pick this thing up if it lands on the ground. I usually have a tray sitting on my lap, and I could place one of those orange drone landing pads on it. is there anyway I can get this x1 to take off from that tray and return to the same place?
This one, unfortunately lands only on hand.
Can you try with go pro adjustment? Does this drone handle the weight of Go pro?
Absolutely no.. you cannot attach anything to it
I just updated to firmware version 7.5 and app version 2.8 and don't have sidetrack available. The new gesture works in dolly mode....that's all that's new. What software revision are you on??
It is supposed to be all released today.. I would give it some time or try tomorrow if there are updates

Are there any aviation restrictions or other restrictions imposed using these that your aware of? I’m fairly close to an airport.
It is still a drone so you need to obey the law in your country especially when it comes to airport
just wondering how can change the height of orbit because my one only default to flat level mode and I cannot change it to other height such as 3 meter above?
You have to login to the app and go through settings to change parameters
I'm having problems with the UPDATES and missing out on the newer control options. Attempting to update leads to a "LOST WIFI CONNECTION" message. Do you have suggestions to resolve this issue?

Not if you fly with default settings. If you want to change the settings then yes you have to connect it to the phone
I updated yesterday and only got the gesture feature for dolly track, no others. Also I did not get the new side track setting either. Just wondering if I did something wrong. ????
The features are being released today so give it some time of couple of days

What if i lose its signal when i fly using manual controls? Will it automatically land?
It will kind of hover in the air until you get reconnected to the phone and then you can land it

Yes I was showing that in my past video. It records clean audio through smartphone app without the noise of propellers

It is loud no doubt… however if you need to record audio check out my other videos about it as I show there that once you record sound through phone, it will cancel the propeller sound

@@ZdenkaDarula There’s another unsponsored video that shows many sessions with this crashing into something almost every opportunity it gets. I’m convinced follow mode could only be reliable with no trees or other objects around.
