Panasonic needs to name its features based on user benefit rather than on implementation detail. Apple invested its energies and came up with term Retina Display for example.
At least one reviewer of the S9 talked about the Lightroom presets they brought in to the Lab app and onto their camera. So you might want to dig a little further on that. * As for the LUT term, think of it the other way around. Imagine all the new camera owners who will be scrambling to find good answers about LUTs on RUclips and turn this into an opportunity to expand your channel. It’s a gift from Panasonic rather than a problem. Build on it.
Thank you, that was very informative. I use my mobile phone for photography, and from my understanding, the LUT or "recipe" is just a preset. In the end, it does the same job and saves us time editing the footage or image, we can simply pick and apply it.
What lens do you think i should get for nightime video maybe for a well lit night club. And then the LUTS i should download. I am moving from an iphone 15 pro max 😂😂 lol
Hi! Maybe a stupid question. Log profile or CineD requires different exposure in a standard workflow (bacause you are going to color grade the footage in post). Whith real time luts how are you going to expose? Simply in the way you do with a natural picture profile even if let's say the lut you are using is based on a log profile? (So exposing based on what you see in the S9 screen)
The more I learn about cameras the less partial I am to any brand. I love my FX3 but this looks like a nice cam for travel and quick daily posts. Thanks for sharing.
I been saying the same thing for years!!! Believe it or not the Road Map to making presets on a camera is already there. Samsung, Polaroid, and Sony(camera lens adaptor to phone) and use android to make this happen. The issue is that the technology was to infant and the "Presets and recipes" that people like were not mainstream as they are now. Just imagine a camera manufacture used AndroidOS and built a beautiful rangefinder and you could access LR mobile and all your presets and tons of other apps online that would have other "presets and Luts" that you can simple access and bake your jpeg with the look that you want and keep your RAW files separate. IF this faceable? At this point in time i say, yes! Also its time for some cameras to embrace new ARM processors, better battery life and much better AF and features that can be added. Maybe and hopefully once of these days that will happen :)
I am curious how Lumix is keep the LUTs depository from being over saturated with 100Ks of LUTs. Is the Lumix app going to be a store for LUTs?, where people upload LUTs to make money? How is that going to work and what is going to stop people from uploading bought LUTs and renaming them to other names negating the need to purchase those Luts. Just from experience, I think this is going to be an issue. Is Lumix going to take money from the app? I wonder with all the "drama" they should have just made a killer app!
I like it... 6K? Full Frame? YEs ...but it is the price point for me right now. Also ...I don't think anyone else demo'd the app. That is very interesting to me.
I’m not talking about all the influencers, and some veterans did a pretty good job introducing this camera. But some of the newer ones are so quick to dismiss the shortcomings of the camera. It’s like there’s no EVF, oh but you don’t need it… There’s no mechanical shutter, oh the electrical shutter is just as good and you don’t need mechanical… oh there’s not hot shoe? You guessed it, you don’t need it. Instead of telling viewers that these are shortcomings that you have to overcome to a conscious purchase decision, they brushed them off so quickly. Imagine a beginner buying this camera without knowing what these shortcomings mean, only to find out after the purchase? What you said was fair as you point out it’s YOUR conscious decision. I can understand the company only mentioning their strong features, but for influencers? It’s not acceptable, when viewers rely on their opinions on making the purchases. This is 2024, not the 90’s when we make purchase decisions based on ads. Ranting aside, I can see the S9 as a great 2nd or travel camera for those who are already in the L mount system, and for those newer content creators focused in TikTok only. It cannot replace any professional work nor can it replace photographic cameras. It has an identity crisis IMO, jack of all trade but master of none.
"Professional work" = getting paid. Says who can't? Professionals may use any tool available to get the job done. There is no substitute for skill and talent. B cam footage may be used anywhere for any purpose applicable. Main cams and B cams are used by "professionals".... on paid gigs right? Professionals often use "smartphones" for work. Whatever is applicable.
@@DreamReleases that’s exactly my point. It has an identity crisis. Not great enough to replace the S5, not versatile enough to replace your phone. Really niche market IMO. That’s all
I would not buy this camera, however, i rarely need and use a viewfinder, i think it was proven you can get away with the electronic shooter, i never use the hotshoe either.
@ never say never 🤣🤣 To be serious try using the hot shoe and a viewfinder, you’ll enjoy it. Especially when you’re over 45 with poor eyesight, you’ll appreciate it more🤣🤣
What are your thoughts on Real Time LUT and the S9?
That lut is indeed an odd word, and Lumix should name if some more fancy. 😅. Lightroom presets would be godmode to have on the camera 🤩
Panasonic needs to name its features based on user benefit rather than on implementation detail. Apple invested its energies and came up with term Retina Display for example.
You can convert your Lightroom presets using the LUT converter and then bring them to the camera, that's an additional step but its' worth it

totally agree
5:50 - you say you can change the LUT afterwards in Lumix Lab. Is that correct? Isn't the LUT baked in
does it allow you to transfer video clips over as well or just pictures on the app? may pick up 1 of these to test.
If it is shot in MP4 Lite then yes 👍
@@ScottEdwards makes sense, I need to check my s5ii. I use it for RUclips videos, I don't even think mp4 lite is an option on that camera!
Any way these luts be used on S5 files? Can I drop them in Final Cut Pro? Just so I could match look of S9 and S5 thanks
Hi. Can you stack LUTs (like REC 709 and a color LUT) in the Lumix Lab app, or is that only in the camera? Sorry if I missed that!
Only in camera at the moment

what abaout slow motion ? just have 60fps ?

What is the best laptop/computer spec for video/editing. It's slightly off-topic, but I'd appreciate any advice offered.
16gb-32gb ram memory & fast processor & lots of storage space - internal or external
I hear that your s5 got problem with chirping in audio like mine 😅
CAN YOU DO THESE THINGS IN S5IIX AS WELL?
yes but you dont get a dedicated lut button on the camera and you can only load 10 luts onto the camera.
What a bummer, i see no quick way of changing the lut on g9ii
The more I learn about cameras the less partial I am to any brand. I love my FX3 but this looks like a nice cam for travel and quick daily posts. Thanks for sharing.
Totally agree!
Lumix Lab has made this camera (and any other that can use it) a monster.

I think normal users can't upload luts to the 'store'?

Great feature. Almost perfect camera.
