In my opinion, Graeme Smith is the best captain the game has seen (at least in my lifetime anyway). However, what I don’t understand is why he did that in a dead rubber. If the series was tied 1-1 and SA needed say 10 runs to win the match and the series then yes I’d get why he’d do it, but in a dead rubber, where they already had the series won it just seems stupid. He risked potentially doing even more damage to the broken digit for nothing

I was a Graeme smith fan from the start of his career , n have watched all his matches , so wen i say this , i mean it . He has always tried to lead from the front , in every match . Hav u not seen the 5th ODI Johannesburg, aus vs SA. The run chase of 434 ! My God , who ever thought that was possible. But , it was from the first ball of the SA innings , u wud understand, they believed it was possible. N wat a stand Graeme smith took ! Cricket is an obsession for this guy .so no way he wud leave this one too !
I never liked him, even though I like a lot of South African Players. When they made him the captain I was like they could not find anyone better? But this Guy was the right choice and became one of the best batsman SA ever produced.
