      @@Tomingley63 nah I like good engines lol I'll take any honda any day over that crap!!! cc doesn't matter it's the size of the head, valves, etc that make power... and that's not what I'm after... honda takes the time to perfect their engines they are significantly better feeling than any Chinese junk. If you want power and are messing with a horizontal cylinder cub style motor like this your silly

    • @dieselgeezer18
      @dieselgeezer18 Год назад +11

      @@16driver16 there are 150cc horizontal cylinder "cub style" engines out there that make 17+ horsepower (stock). These engines are definately capable. Also this channel is not about absolute power. No need to make everything a deathtrap.
      And by the way cc does matter very much. The more cc means the cylinder can ingest more air and thus have more oxygen in order to burn more fuel.
      Though i agree that these cheap chinese motors are much lower quality compared to any honda outta there

    Great video! Reminds me when I was about 11 yrs old. I mowed yards and finally had enough money to buy the neighbors old minibike. I got it home and tore the engine down and put back together and mounted back int he frame. went to the gas station and bought oil for her but, when i got home my step dad told me before I go riding the minibike I had to mow our yard.... I am on the other side of the yard and I see my stepdad with my little cousin go cruising by on my minibike just in time to see it seize and make a loud POP! They did not put the oil in....I never got to ride that bike, it set out in the shed waiting on the engine that never came... Dont think too bad of the situation, he bought me a 68 beetle and the baja fiberglass kit to build my first car the following year! After rebuilding that engine he did ask me if it was ready and ask before starting it!! lol

      My first car was a 68 Baja bug. I bought it with my own money when I was 15 so it must have been 1992 it was for sale at a used car lot for $900 the dealer gave me a ride to the country let me drive it for a few miles and he drove it back to the shop. I offered him $800 and he said because it was my own money he’d take $700 I couldn’t get it out of my pocket quick enough.

    A torch blown in the exhaust and intake ports pointed at the valve stems with the cam removed and valve springs still on the head will straighten and even fix the bent valves, the valve springs will pull the valves shut while the stem is red hot. This is a proven oldschool trick of the trade that i have personally done before and it does work.. so the head is able to be saved.

      @@PlayingWithFireOutdoors But even then it's no easy task... Minimising heat distirtion from welding, and then re-machining every feature while keeping alignment perfect between 2 separate case halves. And completely re-shimming all internals (including some new ones) afterwards. It can be done, but it will take some MAJOR skill, and wouldn't exactly be an economical solution while these engines are a dime a dozen...
      I'd fix up the big-bore kit though; stick some nice stainless valves in there with some decent springs and retainers, and save stuff like oil coolers, ignition, and intake and exhaust parts for another engine. Roller has some really nice brake and suspension parts to it, so well worth keeping in my opinion.

    Street tires were the best choice for cold dusty asphalt. A more aggressive compound would be useless because it would never get up to temp and if it did they would just pick up more dust. They probably could have aired down to 15 psi to get a little more traction.

    Very cool little bike! Lots of get up and go, for sure. But by adding ‘go-fast’ parts it was more or less condemned to fail. It’s simply metallurgy. I worked for Honda Canada (advertising) back in the nineties and I remember they were getting complaints from their go-cart engine users when Honda small engines -formerly made in Japan - were manufactured off-shore in South Korea. Same designs, but different quality steel and aluminum. NFG when pushed to the limit...and beyond.

    They're among the best of the Chinese pit bikes. Might as well go ahead and put a Tillitson on it and have fun with it. A replacement 140 is around 650-700$

    You guys should get a Shake And Break. It's basically a screwdriver that hooks onto an air-chisel so you can break loose screws like the screws on the stater you showed in the video.

    Why is it that Charles put in most of the work and wasn't the one to test ride it?

    Ya guys know that the 190 from the Yard Dart will fit right into that bike frame, right? Plus you can get new valves for that head, and a 110 or 125cc bottom end and rebuild it cheaply!

    If you end up parting it out or anything my son could use any kind of parts he could get he got a SSR 110 that is pretty much stripped out all it has is a good motor
