I'd say this was super mixed and mastered but they didn't even have the technology back then to make a performance this perfect. They don't have the technology now. Incredible.
There needs to be LOVE button on this, this is pure vocal bliss. I mean these guys are just killin' it with this harmony. This is SICK! Too much slayage.
@@lenhalz8086 NSYNC doesn't get enough credit for their harmonies. Not quite on the level of Take 6 or four-part BIIM, but definitely worth some recognition.
@@JamaalABivens He's right... NSYNC never goes into the same conversation with Take 6. No one said they weren't okay...but there levels and they were not anywhere near Take 6.
Yes and the audience is whipped into a frenzy over it, they almost start cheering and applauding over them but they're all musically sensitive and their instinct to listen overrides their excitement to cheer but you can hear a few people losing control especially 4:30. This live performance is so good, I think they sound tighter as an ensemble and yet more vocally free here than on the record. They were on such a good day today - and the sound guys really got it right too.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE version Star Spangled Banner EVER!!! When I first saw this first,; back then; I vhs taped it & played it over a hundred times+ times!
Jesus christ!!! I knew Mervin had range but dayyummm I didn't know he had THAT much range. I always wondered who hit that rediculously high note at the end of this song even thought i assumed it was Mark cuz I know Mark is a first tenor but wow! Dayum really makes me wish Mervin would have stayed with the group, I love "I Do" by B2M and "don't know nothin" by For Real but I wasnt aware of other things he has laced.
I was singing all these songs and dancing around the house not realizing that my wife and my do not know these songs!!...they are soooo young!!! That's the only way i could look at it :)
See, you _cain't_ lose w/ Take 6. I'm tellin' you somethin'. And they made sho' to sang a cappella. This way you know it's real and no fluff is necessary. This is what I like. They to' the last 3 minutes of this song up. Excellent harmonies and performance.
Yup! I don't think claude could get that high on the end part. But it was definitely claude who did the "to see my lord" part. Mervyn was the one who did the high note on "Jordan"
One of my all time favorite performances. Just excellent all the way around. Night Music (aka Sunday Night) was a great show : ) Glad there are still copies of these shows floating around out there!
I remember back in the day when Mervyn DID sing the top note at the end...Claude was typically the high 1st tenor based on his tessitural, but, as someone else said, they traded off, which made it all the more cool. Was it just me or was Alvin Chea just killin' it on his bass stepouts. This was probably the best Jordan overall with their ad lib. It was a good time for them!
It's true the voice will deteriorate with time if you don't take good care of it and meet your singing teacher regularly. That applies even to the greatest. In fact, they are so 'cos they realize they need to practice and remember. Th truth is Take 6 was back in 1989 the best acapella group not only for harmomnies, but also voice emissions. Today the harmonies are there, the emission is gone.
Nobody I repeat no freaking buddy tops these cats I grew up listening to these guys and still love them. I went to a winter Camp called Extreme Mobility ( for vision impaired people) XMo for short and Vinny Chea was the founder of that camp
I just heard another Take 6 video where I think it's called Take 6 Medley...at any rate, at the end, they sing the end of "Get Away Jordan", and at the end, David Thomas sings the high note at the end. This only confirms that these guys will trade off and that most of them can sing virtually anything!
O.k..... Now before I say what Im about to say understand what Im saying..."Take 6 on this Video had a BETTER blend and balance than they do TODAY." I understand that thier chord structure today is a bit mo complex, but that still doesnt discount thier balance. I was BLOWN away when I heard this... and YES Ive been to a recent concert...and yes they are still the baddest singing group EVER! Does anyone agree with me on this???
You are exactly right about this video, AND about current events. My age is showing, they did indeed switch up the top bc all 3 (Merv, Claude, and Mark) were interchangeable. I have a very good friend tat attended Alabama @ the time Merv and te guys were at Huntsville. Needless to say I've seen them numerous times, and Claude has ALWAYS done the high note. IMHO after Merv left, they went from out of this world (Xmas album was the last with his arrangements) to simply great, to now... okay...
Good Lord, I kneel and then prostrate before God-given talent And of course Mervyn sang the high note, apart from that stop squabbling and just enjoy! Love...from another T6 true fan ( and one doesnt have to live on the MB to consder onesself a true fan!)
You guys are comparing men from 1989 to 2008. Thats almost 20 years. These guys should be in their mid to late 40's. They are still something very different, in this prefab and sampling industry. So appreciate them while they are around cause there is no group on the horizon touching these guys.
Vocal Masterclass . No group in the history of song can out sang those brothers. GOAT Status.
anyone in 2021 blown away by this performance!
mervyn warren was a beast. especially his arrangements....
i wish they would reunite.
That song " Getaway Jordan" is a Mark Kibble Arrangement. Mark is the principal arranger for Take 6
that bass...oooh child! makes it perfect.
I saw it but it still does not seem humanly possible for 6 people to be that technically in sync. This is amazing.
this is friggin insane, their blend is out of this dimension.
AND IT'S FUCKING LIVE!!!!
mervyn warren=BEAST!!! WITH THOSE HIGH NOTES!
Agreed
I'd say this was super mixed and mastered but they didn't even have the technology back then to make a performance this perfect. They don't have the technology now. Incredible.

I agree!!!
Take 6...the greatest vocal group ever...enuf said
No one compares..from top to the bottom..BoyzIIMen came close back in the day, and Nsync had a liitle bit, but Take 6..Legends!!
Don't ever mention NSYNC in the same breath as BoyzIIMen or Take 6.

did anyone notice the crazy note by mervyn warren from 4:26 to 4:27

OMG That first tenor!
Luscious vocals..
Mervin doing his best trumpet impression help to make this performance even better, IMO. Listening to him do his thing is so awesome!
As always, a fantastic performance by these guys!!❤😂

Out of this world harmony. Best hands down!
Oh my effin gosh those harmonies are AMAZING! This is how you do it!
Lastly, this yet another great Mark Kibble arrangement..
These guys are just incredible!!! I also like them singing the National Anthem.
best 6 piece harmonies ive ever heard!, incredible vocalists
Their chords structure isn't more complex today...their first album is the more complex :-)
That is absolutely INCREDIBLE.
I love Take 6! Every part is amazing but something about Merv and those high notes!!! Wow.
I still have this cd, i use to use this cd to put me to sleep...so smoove and peaceful sounding!
Insanely great 👌🏾👌🏾
Oh Lord they are classic, TOUCH those notes!
OMG That 1st tenor has insane range!
my favorite rendition of the guys doing this!!! yesss :)
Lord. They sound better than the album version! Wow!!1
Absolutely fantastic!!! That was the time that Take 6 sounded actually better live than on the record. Fabulous!!!!!
I was singing all these songs and dancing around the house not realizing that my wife and my do not know these songs!!...they are soooo young!!!
That's the only way i could look at it :)
AWESOME HARMONIES
AWESOME!!!

Great Upload! Keep em coming!
YES...A PERFECT 10!!!

The Upper Registers ( Claude, mark, and Mervyn) are doing some real acrobatics in the high register.
damn one of my fav songs they ever did... doesnt get any better...
One of my all time favorite performances. Just excellent all the way around. Night Music (aka Sunday Night) was a great show : ) Glad there are still copies of these shows floating around out there!
And here is the FIRST auto-tune. :) Truly genius and AMAZING!!

because at the end mervyn warren sing a high C#

They should've got together with the Braxton Sisters. That would be truly EPIC A Capella.
Amber Moore OMG yasssssss
Absolutely right! I've seen what you're talking about regarding David too..
voice of God
Canta em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nossa!!!!!!!!!!!!
i agree!
Everyone should check out their the recent videos where they performed at The Stellar Awards. Do the search here on RUclips for them.
He could do it. i have some videos of them doing it right after Mervyn's departure and Claude do the high B.

When Joey joined Claude did the high notes...I don't know when David started to do it...probably around 1993 or so =D
that's insane
