  • In this power carving demonstration Laurie shows how to carve and shape individual feathers on a Blue-winged Teal Drake wing using the Gesswein Power Hand 3 Micro-motor Tool with a carbide cross-cutter and diamond flame 3/32" bit. (Apologies for the washed out portions of video. Adjustments were made to alleviate this in subsequent recordings) For those who would like to follow along step-by-step, here's a link to the pattern for download... / 1539139402777396

Would it be possible to place a table fan near your work to clear off the sawdust and leave the other vacuum device off? It is hard to hear what you are saying and very distracting with that loud noise.

+Tomas Weyandt No it is not possible to do this. It is unfortunate that you are having issues hearing me, and are distracted, however this is the reality of powercarving. A microgrinder is noisier than a knife, powercarving generates dust, and it does require a dust collection system for me to stay healthy so I can go one making these free demonstrations. If I did not use the dust collection device, not only would my studio be a mess, I would need to wear a dust mask and you would not hear me at all. You might use the pause button to better see things you feel are blocked by dust. Thanks for your input.

Laurie is there a distributor of those Tupelo ACEO blanks or is it something you cut yourself?

Hi Rick, I just cut them out of some tupelo scraps left over from a different project. 2.5" x 3.5" x .75"

These Blue-winged Teal demos are early videos I made. Considering all are FREE, one might not complain.
