    A couple things. First off, you are killing it in these pulse sensor videos. Two. WHY are manufacturers still using plastic on cooling systems! They become so brittle. Im glad the engine was too hot. That could have hurt.

    Great video Mario as always...
    Everyone points the finger at European cars for having plastic coolant parts that randomly snap off when you breath on them. That same hose snapped off on my brother in-laws GM truck Christmas day about 1 mile from my house at like 10pm.. Guess who got a call to "take a look at it" 😒...luckily i was able to remove the nipple and temporarily rig it up for them.

    I couldn't agree agree with you more Marion...if it's pinpointed to a specific cylinder sometimes a cranking/running in-cyl pressure transducer is the way to go and sometimes a leak-down test is best & sometimes both to get different failure related waveforms time permitting.

    • @SuperMarioDiagnostics
      @SuperMarioDiagnostics  5 лет назад

      I can't say I'm at the level where i can use the in cyl to differentiate where the leak is coming from. I can really only see the expansion event showing that a leak is present, but not tell if it's an intake leak, unless it's really obvious and rounding of the IVC profile.

    • @haywardsautomotive6156

    Great demonstration, Mario! That waveform speaks for itself: weak compression event --> immediate puff into the intake.
    Now, thinking about hanging the pulse sensor: would it be OK to raise the windshield wipers and clip the sensor to them or too much weight?
    And thanks for showing the underside of the diag process: made-out-of-chocolate coolant pipe bursting and the customer declining to do anything further. Tough industry...

    • @SuperMarioDiagnostics
      @SuperMarioDiagnostics  5 лет назад +1

      Exactly why one shouldn't invest too much time and effort, and be as efficient as possible, the good thing is that we justified what we DID have to disassemble.
      It's not much weight, but I wasn't really considering the wiper arm as a support 😆
      The customer declined moving forward at this moment, so we are at a standstill, no idea what they want to do with it yet.
      Thanks for watching buddy 👍

    HAHA well I had to laugh once I knew you weren't burnt. That has to be the worst design QD and they break all the time. Good thing for the customer was it broke there and not on the road. I get the GM PN and take them apart & double o'ring them and they fit nice & tight & seems to make them last and not leak or break . Dorman's are junk...used once and broke about a month later and the only reason I used them was it was at night and only parts store open had Dorman & the customer needed to get to his job. Nice diagnosis Mario & thanks for sharing . Hope you win the contest and deserve it. I've been voting 👍

    I have not done any diagnosis yet besides hookup a $100 scan tool to the OBD 2 port. The 0P300 code came up, along with a bank O2 sensor code. This issue took place today while driving my HUMMER to military training. With 215,000 miles on the engine, should have known something major was going to happen soon.

    • @SuperMarioDiagnostics
      @SuperMarioDiagnostics  5 лет назад

      Does it start misfiring as soon as you start it when cold or does it take a little while before it starts misfiring?

    • @jeromeshockley9572
      @jeromeshockley9572 5 лет назад

      The misfire occurs about a minute after cranking the engine. The engine will run rough for about 10 seconds then run normally. I've started this HUMMER about 5 times today. The misfire issue happen twice. Don't know if the sudden change in cold weather has to do anything with this issue.

    • @SuperMarioDiagnostics
      @SuperMarioDiagnostics  5 лет назад

      I'd look into what code you're getting. An 02 circuit issue can cause misfires across a whole bank. But since the car heats up in open loop, it's not listening to the o2 sensors, not until it enters closed loop, then it will listen to o2 sensors and if one is problematic, it will cause those misfires.
      I had the same issue here, same system. ruclips.net/video/yCn0ZMAstEk/видео.html

      @jeromeshockley9572 5 лет назад +1

      Interesting, I do have a limited warranty with the dealership I bought the HUMMER from, but the dealership will probably find a way to avoid fixing diagnosing and fixing this issue.

    Hey Mario great video. There is a better way then to remove the clutch fan. I've been a tech for 20 years and if your looking for conformation on a leaky intake or exhaust valve by way of air leak test, simply remove your rocker arms and the valves will be closed, mind you the piston will move after adding air but you will get the same results as if you were at TDC, it also works great for checking for head gasket failures. Keep up the great videos!! Oh that piston chart you had on your pico, is that something you downloaded? I would like to get one, they sell the charts on aeswave but having it set up on the computer looks way better.

    Hey mario...have a question... if u do a ckp /cmp relationship on a v8 ...with a cmp only on one bank, can the bank without a cmp still be out of timming....just trying to learn ..thanks in advance

    • @SuperMarioDiagnostics
      @SuperMarioDiagnostics  5 лет назад

      Yes absolutely. Some cars have dual overhead cams with a cmp on only one cam, and the one without the cam sensor can definitely be out of time.
      Now if you're suspecting one back is out of time, you can do a relative compression test, and it may show lower amperage peaks every other peak. Also you can do a cranking intake pulse test using a map sensor, it will show breathing/timing issues as well.
      Many cars though, will have live data that compares specified/desired cam angle vs actual. If there's too much deviation from the two, timing/vvt could be an issue.

    Mario you ever come across this 5.4 on 2008 f150. could the timing phaser or actuator be off even though your pids for your phaser advance is reading right around 1 degree at idle? Bank 1 is dead at times (missing like crazy) but other times it's not to bad. Misfire codes that's it I've checked everything coils fuel control flow exhaust but can't find I reliable cam crank correlation for this vehicle. Any help from anyone would be good. Also bank 1 reads -18 rich fuel trims then bank 2 18 lean at idle (doesn't change underload).

      @@SuperMarioDiagnostics yeah thought the same but checked it back pressure test. Have you ever heard of the timing being off but the pids be spot on. I've done a couple of these Ford's but every time I had a timing issue my pids would be 10 to 15 degrees off.

    • @SuperMarioDiagnostics
      @SuperMarioDiagnostics  5 лет назад

      Nope usually the pids would show that it's off. Does your relative compression test show a lack of compression for one bank? I'd still loosen up both upstream sensors and recheck for misfires. The fuel trims opposing like that are usual red flags for exhaust restriction

They wouldnt pull the trigger until I confirmed. So I removed 02s and it ran fine. I should of started from scratch and not jumped ahead on their word. Lesson learned. Truly thanks for they help.
