Hayden is such a legend, he got so much crap back then yet he came back ❤ I was never one of those people, loved the whole prequel trilogy then and I still do now !!!
I’m glad Hayden also gets it about the “I don’t like sand” scene Anakin was a slave on a desert planet for his entire childhood, where was Anakin going to learn a great pickup line from? It was a spur of the moment type of flirt it wasn’t a well thought out one but it didn’t have to be
"something so casual about it", oh yeah he should totally have made it completely dramatic about how he hates sand. He should have gotten on his knees and started sobing about how much he despise sand. The problem is that they tried to make him into a realistic teen which they succeeded in. They forgot that the viewers are kind of stupid and won't understand because the awkwardness is too close to home.
Although I understood the reason Anakin disliked sand, those lines were so hard not to laugh at because they had just been used in the Tomb Raider movie with Angelina Jolie. I had to hold my desire to finish the line with “I know. Gets everywhere. In the cracks.” 😅
Til my dying day ill never understand why the sand line was a big deal or become a meme... Its completely fine and understandable. For a person whose only ever lived in the desert and has gritty and annoying ass sand in his hair and clothes 24 7, who wouldnt hate it? And I think in one of the books the sand was a reminded of his slave life as a boy which he hates to look back on. Its great writing.
I think the "I hate sand" idea is a good one, it says a lot about the different worlds they come from and their oppositional class differences. Padme associates sand with water, Anakin associates it with thirst. The real problem is the lines following when he spins it into a string of compliments about how Padme is nothing like sand, which are cheesy and cringy beyond belief. The impulse to establish that Anakin is a child of poverty, that now lives an ascetic (deliberately impoverished) lifestyle of service, and that he is in love with someone wealthy and powerful is an interesting one as you could see that being a shameful thing for him, even if it didn't matter to her, and could be tempting him into wanting wealth, power etc. A newcomer like Christensen isn't going to push back on things like this at age 19 like more seasoned actors would, so that's really not on him. But I'm sure Christensen understands now why some "difficult" actors try to changes lines and advocate for their character when they know something stinks.
After having watched a lot of behind the scenes stuff on these movies and these actors talking about other movies I actually think a bigger problem is that George Lucas is simply too nice. He's often unconfrontational on set and incredibly gracious to the cast and crew to the point where I think it leads to people feel bad about giving him any trouble. I totally agree with you about the sand line though, the actual "I don't like sand" part is fine, it's what he says after that sucks.
A clone wars live action show Would do great if they have the proper writers.. Make it happen. .. or just vader. Bring back his secret apprentice star killer. Make it cannon . Show the whole backstory with that stuff. It would be interesting watching him train a little boy
I think maybe because a lot of shows are CGI and fake sets with a lot of makeup, so real people don't look smooth and perfect next to that unless they cake on the makeup. In the interview the surroundings are not as perfect so he would seem more normal.
Hayden's exactly right, and I never understood the hate for that line. Anakin grew on on Tatooine. Sand is representative of that planet. Not just literally, but the coarse, penetrative, irritating and rough nature of his upbringing.
I love this! I love how Dave Filoni discusses how those of us who grew up during the early days of Star Wars could only imagine what the Clone Wars were about. Though we did eventually get a good sense of what the Clone Wars are about from the 2003 2D mini series The Clone Wars; it was not as in depth as Dave Filoni’s series is. Do not get me wrong, the original adaptation hold a special place in my heart to this day, but I truly love Filoni’s Clone Wars series and all that has come from it. He is a Star Wars hero for true Star Wars fans.
Basically…be g,ad I made clone wars because when I was a kid it was frustrating when they talked about it in the OT. Also something about Ashoka need to finish the training but didn’t bother to understand that.
I actually like Hayden Christiansen as an actor! Poor guy had nothing to work with! Terrible script, terrible dialogue, horrible director and Natalie Portman to perform scenes with. If you rewatch those movies, Hayden C’s acting is much better in scenes where he performs with truly great actors like Ewan McGregor and Palpatine. The good actors up his game a little.

Ur promoting a scam btw
This man can NEVER film a movie, show or even be seen in a desert for the rest of his life without someone saying “I thought you hated sand”.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
FR
or the beach
I wish he was starring in more stuff.
Hayden is so freaking adorable.
I'm curious about Hayden's opinion on Anakin's arc especially when he destroyed the Death Star
Hahaha 💀
What slander. Anakin was trying to SAVE the Death Star from the rebels!
🤣
I understood that reference
legend
Hahahaha! This comment made my day😂
Dave Filoni has a pokeball in his office 😂😂😂

It's still a shitty line and could've expressed that sentiment better
@@ryancraig6675 that’s not the point I’m making, the point is in character, where was Anakin going to learn good pickup lines?
@@ryancraig6675so you haven’t said shitty lines as a kid? Cause I’m sure you have.
i really enjoy that scene ,
rembember me a young Luke Skywalker who don't want to stay in tatooine (sand planet)
@@aceshotz5051 he had them in TCW so you tell me! 🧐
It wasn't the line necessarily, but rather how he delivered it...there was something so casual about it that it felt like it came out of left field...

@@treali Don't wet your tampons over it...
when I met Hayden I made a shirt that said "I love sand-Anakin Skywalker" he thought it was funny
I think people don't realize how great smooth sand feels. It really is a different experience.
Nah, I hate the feeling of sand on my body so I'm with Anakin on that one.
After a long day at work, going down to the beach esp in the summer time. Digging my feet into the sand... little things in life 👍
What's funny about "I hate Sand" is Hayden doing it seriously and trying deciphering the sentiments behind it 😂
I mean there was actual thought put into Anakin’s treatise/ramble about sand, but people only remember the line for the meme.
Los.. Dos Son Fantásticos ❤🤗
Came to see Hayden joking about sand, stayed for Dave talking about the Clone Wars.
I love you chosen one ❤
Skiwalker 🥺
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Dave Filoni without his hat
i think hayden christensen doesnt deserve the hate he got from the prequels because I like the prequels

Need more Hayden as Darth Vader. Do it!
I’m convinced Anakin experienced PTSD

I still don't understand why people hated that line. Yes, it was not exactly a good one, but it's not like "Somehow Palpatine returned" kind of bad.

Which series are they talking about?
Ahsoka

Is that just me or is Hayden getting started to resemble Wentworth Miller as he gets older😂
No, I see it.
