Francis Ngannou is 37 years old, possibly even older than his listed age given the circumstances in Africa. The UFC was only offering him 8 million to fight Jon Jones, and if Jon had taken his belt, Ngannou would be back to getting paid peanuts. He was paid 600k to defend his belt in his last UFC fight as champion. Even assuming he beat Jon Jones, how many more times could he have won at his age? It doesn't matter if his boxing career is over because he's already made more money than he ever would have with the UFC.

Anthony Joshua was gun-shy after the Andy Ruiz fight, but that was four and a half years ago. AJ has got his confidence back in the last couple of fights (maybe you hadn't noticed). There was some hype with Francis because he knocked down Fury, but Tyson has built this false sense of invincibility with the general public even though he was knocked down and went life and death with Neven Pajkic. I do realise most of you don't know who the hell that is, but that in itself is the point. So, to sum up, I'm not surprised.
