I think you are massively underestimating the effect of the World Series on Ohtani cards. The dude had “Babe Ruth” validation in regards to his regular season performances. He’s already shown that he’s an elite talent in regards to power, he’s shown that he’s one of the best pitchers in the league when healthy, and this year-he showed that he has elite speed. He just capped off one of the best offensive seasons in MLB history with a World Series. You are using advanced statistics in the World Series to affect sports card value? Nobody is going to care that Aaron Judge wasn’t statistically terrible in the World Series. People will remember that he lost a World Series and thats it. Look at Lebron-(I think MJ is the GOAT)-and people use Lebrons finals losses as their reasoning for not putting him as their GOAT. It doesn’t matter that his finals stats for the years that he lost may have been wonderful-and the fact that in one of those losses-the second best player on his team was Illgauskas. The only thing Shohei was missing to be in the GOAT conversation was a ring-and he got that. That is HUGE. I’d expect 90-95% of baseball prices to drop right after the season ends as the off season is generally requires that. Let’s not overlook the fact that Ohtani played with a dislocated shoulder. Even if his World Series numbers weren’t huge-what he provided his team with playing hurt was hope and confidence. You can’t quantify that using advanced stats.
@@jeffv3296 you are right. Ohtani is clearly the goat and the only thing you could say was he didn’t have a World Series. Now everyone shut up. He’s won at every level, from Japan, WBC, to now World Series. Goat.

Doesn't matter. He carried the team while freeman and betts were out, and performed in the previous two series. Also he was injured in game 2, so that's an easy pass. Also 1) he had an RBI in game 1 which allowed freeman to walk off in extra innings 2) even with one arm he got a walk in game 3 on 4 pitches that added an RBI (courtesy of the WS MVP Freeman). Trouts values were insanely high because people looked at his numbers and those numbers put him in the trajectory of being a consideration for the GOAT. However, his injuries have hurt that trajectory. The thing that has hurt him more is his post season resume. It’s hard to call somebody the GOAT when they have no rings, and they have led their team to the playoffs ONCE. His team got swept in the first round the one time they made the playoffs. It’s hard for a player to command godly prices when their career impact in the post season is effectively non existent.

I agree with you most of the time. I agree with most of your take on these players. The one player I do not agree with your assessment of is Stanton. He is a surefire HoF player no matter what. He is not all that likable. He is accident-prone. However, his cumulative stats will easily eclipse 500 HRs, which will shoe him in no matter what happens around him in the game.
Counting stats may be out of vouge, but there is no way the HoF won't put a 500 HR player in right away.
@@Darbobski if Stanton gets to 500 HR, I agree, he makes it. I think he has a great case currently, but he still has 80 HR to go which is not guaranteed with aging declines. I don’t mind Stanton. I hope he gets there!
@@scottiebcards2354 He is only 34. For him, a half season played is 25 HR. I do not see him missing the 500HR mark at all.
Since Judge pooped the bed, maybe it’s a good time to buy some mid tier cards.
Did you say the Yankees won the World Series? Spoiler alert Dodgers are the 2024 WS Champions.
I accidentally said The Yankees won the World Series. I meant to say the Dodgers 🤦♂️. Please overlook this error! Thanks for watching!
Yankees won Scott?! 😂
Shohei could have stayed home the entire world series and it would have had zero impact on the outcome of any of the games.
If he had underperformed in multiple post seasons, then it would probably be different but it's his first playoff
Judge’s cards have completely tanked this Postseason. I think you underestimated how much this Postseason hurt his legacy and his future card values.
I’m fine benefiting from peoples mistakes lol. Gonna be grabbing some of his cards
If that was true Kershaw wouldnt have any value
@@farlow126 I think there is a lot of short term recency bias with any postseason. He has a lot of time for more home runs, awards, and postseason runs. Bonds, Griffey, Ted Williams never won so hopefully it doesn’t hurt Judge too much.
@@incupamestadtemptatur3383 if you haven’t noticed Kershaw’s cards have tanked more than Judge’s this postseason.
@@scottiebcards2354 all the players you mentioned are not on the most prolific organization in all of sports and compared to postseason legends like Ruth, Mantle, Reggie, Jeter etc.
Betts stats aren’t close to HOF yet. He needs like 1000 or more hits or at least 200 more homers to even get close
I am not saying if he retired today that he makes the HOF, but rather his legacy is built and he just needs to age normally. Thanks for watching!
@@scottiebcards2354 Why are you even responding to these dumb ass comments. Mookie Betts is a LOCK first ballot Hof'er. Post Season numbers have ZERO effect on HOF voting. ZERO, NONE NIL.
First!
First is the worst. 2nd is the best (Me). 3rd is the one w the hairy hairy chest.
Absolutely not....nobody's floor is set. Three years ago...everyone said that about Mike Trout. 3x MVP before the age of 30....guaranteed 1st ballot Hall of Famer...blah blah blah. Now his cards are over 50% less than where they were 2 years ago because he's been hurt. Sell while the cards are hot... there are no cards that are worth holding anymore.
I’ve lost more money on Mookie Betts cards than any other player. For some reason he is the most undervalued star in the game.
