I agree. It's aggravating to buy a file then have to rework the whole darn thing.

Thanks for the great video. I've been plaing pinball in my mind between FB Marketplace, Etsy, Shopify, SquareUp, or some home grown system to get the word out. Hard to sell things when all you have done is word of mouth. :)

I think Etsy have brought in a charge to set up a store - I paid £14 but I think it can be £21. I also use Square for my credit card payments (craft shows) but this integrates brilliantly with Etsy and you can easily set up your own website with a shop at no charge (unless you take your own domain and a more complex site template).

Thanks for another unbiased informative video. Always learn something new. As far as the files are concerned I always thought that i did something wrong in downloading them.

When doing craft shows, etc. What do you use for point of sale or in person transactions? Do you have a video comparing these kind of services?

No I don't. I use square, but do not know to much about this. It works :)

What are the differences from an SVG cut file for say a Cricut machine and a vector file for a laser machine? Is there an extra step for laser? Are the digital sellers not closing the vector points on the shapes? I’ve heard this complaint before, but don’t know the difference. I sell cut files for Cricut and would love to sell laser files but don’t want to sell crappy files.

There's no real difference between a cut file for a Cricut and one used for Laser cutting. You could also use the file on a CNC machine.
Any vector file that is made correctly (closed vectors, simplified points etc) will work on all 3.
The main consideration and thing I've personally found when using a file for any of the above (I use all 3) is open vectors and more annoyingly incorrectly sized tabs/slots.
As long as these are taken into consideration when making the file, your file will work on any machine.

Wow! Cool thanks! I’ve been pricing laser cutters and looking into buying one and have put off making/selling laser files because I’d be embarrassed to sell bad files. Lol. I’m going to look into this a little more. Thank you for all this information. It gives me a place to start. And I’ll know what to look out for that will create pain points for customers. Cheers!!!!

@@michelleg980 I think the only real way to know is to get lightburn and make your files on a laser. If all lines are not closed, it will not engrave (only line or cut). This can be a real pain for laser owners. Lightburn will warn you if the lines are not closed.
