That's not actually not 100% true, yes, a few actors didn't film certain scenes together that are shown in the movie, you're right about that part but there were a couple actors who did, most notable, Bruce Willis and Michael Madsen; and Clive Owen and Rosario Dawson
I feel more connected with this movie than I ever did now seeing the work behind the scenes. I would have NEVER guessed some of the actors and actresses never met. 💯💯 #Respect
This is one of the greatest graphic novel adaptation ever existing. Marvel movies may be big but not so true to source material as sin city, both graphicly and in story. This is what "big names" in industry should learn from Mr.Rodriguez
What I like Most about Robert Rodriguez & Director Christopher Nolan is how well methodical both are in terms of the skill and techniques they both deploy into making movies 🎥 and always getting around the impossible. Robert carefully incorporates his methods well and knows how to keep it going under low budget estimate. Nolan on the other hand is very physical as he lessens using any form of CGI in his films unless need be. Many overlook or don't realise the specialty of these crafts and magic until it's behind the scenes time, outstanding 👏
It's crazy that I found this video after so many years. In high school I based my art style after Frank miller's sin city, so alot ofthe observations Rob made in order to replicate in his effects were ones I'm super familiar with, like the tyle grout that was whitening the shadows but black in the light (one of my art pieces had a brick wall that used this effect). I wish I'd found this video when I was working on those paintings cause I may have been able to come up with more ideas from it
Just started editing and realization. Glad you shared your vision and how you have translated into a superb movie. Most important to everyone who wants to start is your massage at the end: "Everything is there. Software. (Smartphone-) Cameras. It's just a question of creativity. Appreciation. Many thanks from a rookie 😎 🔥 🎬 💯
No matter how many times I watch this, it still amazes me how he utilizes the green screen. There is almost nothing there and he made the movie out of almost nothing. Actors against green. It really gives all of us no excuse. I’m learning blender (3D), writing, and 2D animation now and hope to make some cool sh*t on other channels. Man. It’s beautiful stuff that he makes.
"He loved his material, and I loved his material" => this is how adaptations should be done. All his technical craft is awesome, but if his heart was in "one upping" Frank, or robbing his comic for material to use in his story, or in making his own movie but tapping comics fanbase it would all be for naught.
I'm writing a noir movie similar to sin city but with a lot less supporting characters and if I can get to troublemaker studios I would ask Robert if I could use the green screens for my film
I was curious how they did the blood splattering on Miho's face, I thought she just somehow was able to learn not flinch and actually did not blink for that scene
Has anyone asked about the make of the green screens used here? The large wall junts plus the seemingly sheet version used to drape over things. Any clue would be appreciated!
Has anyone seen any good homages to what they did on the Sin City films, I can't say i've seen anything no budget low budget that even comes close, i am definitely gonna try some tests very soon for a different concept but very much would like this look! i've loved it since they did it, i wish there were more tutorials on the whole process
WOW.......DGA trying to control how you film. Thats the almost the same when they told Alejandro Jodorowsky he needed a license to film. Can someone explain this DGA rediculousness?
The fact that none of the actors ever filmed their scenes together at the same time on set is absolutely mind-blowing 🤯🤯🤯

Did you not watch the video.
Plenty of scenes.
You're wrong and an idiot at that.
Clive owen and benicio del toro@@GageDinkins-sp6do
this guy knows how to manage a movie on tight budget.
Read his book, “rebel without a crew.”
Have VFX studios pitted against each other scrounging for money to keep their doors open? Yep, that's definitely one way.
Rodriguez proves that there's nothing wrong with digital effects if they're used by the right people in the right way.
People give Robert Rodriguez shit, but this film was so well realized. Top marks.
"Becoming my own production designer" Rodriguez will always have my respect for being a one-man crew. He does so much on his own it's insane.
This guy gets it!
This movie should have gotten three Oscar nominations: Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Actor for Mickey Rourke.
The actors never met? Lmao, great chemistry between the characters under these kind of circumstances
I still can't believe this. What a great job the director has made
This guy was a decade ahead of the rest of hollywood
This movie deserved way more cred 👏
It really did! It really was ahead of its time.
What a beautiful, creative work of art! Can't believe most of it was filmed with green screen.
This man is a treasure. So many gems from this video and his book "Rebel Without A Crew."
I feel more connected with this movie than I ever did now seeing the work behind the scenes. I would have NEVER guessed some of the actors and actresses never met. 💯💯 #Respect
Robert Rodríguez is a maverick an movie genius a one man army. This movie was a loyal masterpiece of Miller's Sin City series.
elija wood looks like an evil harry potter ^^
He looks like Frodo finally caved and gave in to the ring
I had no idea that such a great movie was made with such limited means. Rodriguez is a genius.
One of my fav movies of all time yes sir!

The most inspiring breakdown ive seen, enjoyed just as mush as the film it self.
Rodriguez is such an amazing professional behind the camera. With skills like that it's amazing he only has like three good movies.
❤️ 💙 💜
I've always been humbled by his talent and work ethic...but I've never been a fan of his films...except for from Dusk til Dawn
I just love Marv. The guy you call when you absolutely, positively need the bad guy to suffer before they die.

This is a masterpiece..
this film blew my mind to smithereens as a kid. to this day, i've never seen anything quite like it.
like the BTS of the The Dark Knight, watching these BTS and how they make things done, makes the film more interesting.
One of my all time favorite movies
This movie is a complete masterpiece..
Wow this was inspiring and also mindblowing. Robert Rodriguez might have just worked his way into my favorite directors.
One of the best films ever made because of the style. I love it.
I LOVE YOU ROBERT RODRIGUEZ!!!!
your teeth
Sin City is excellent and this was a great insight. I didn't even know you could watch the full green screen version.
Just started editing and realization. Glad you shared your vision and how you have translated into a superb movie. Robert Rodriguez is a genius!
One of my absolute favourite movies!
Man this is one of the coolest videos ever. Robert Rodriguez is so fucking legit.
marv is the true badass hero
Pretty amazing.
SO INSIGHTFUL!

Man this is such a cool idea. Works a lot better than the Star Wars prequels did
It must of been hard for Elijah Wood not to laugh in some of these scenes
Now that's movie making

All I can say is FREAKING WOW WOW WOW !!!!!
Pure talent, that's amazing, this movie is amazing. I love it

Every second of this video is mind-blowing. 💜

Bloody Hell it was a faithful adaptation and a masterpiece before but now...
Good director
thank you for uploading this
Brilliant.
11:40 Such an amazing part to end video on, incredible film and video loved it.
6:06 was horrifying and cute at the same time.
summary : those two actors never met each other
Carla Gugino is so hot holdin that gun! Laaawd have mercy
"He loved his material, and I loved his material" => this is how adaptations should be done. GREAT MOVIE...
I❤ this film so much
such an underrated movie
Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba never met either. Robert took her place and wore a wig during the kissing and dancing scenes.
they didn't even kiss?
Sai Ashwin that’s your first question?
Awesome video. Thank you.
One of the best movies ever made
This film and the second part is the favourite movie and the best because its real.....
Very impressive.
Amazing!
6:23 Is that a young Nathan Fillion?!
No
The way this movie was made is a MASTERPIECE 👌🏼😗🤌🏻
I'm writing a noir movie similar to sin city but with a lot less supporting characters and if I can get to troublemaker studios I would ask Robert if I could use the green screens for my film
if you haven't seen this movie, then I have no words for you.
This is genius! We saw masterpiece it birthed.
I was curious how they did the blood splattering on Miho's face, I thought she just somehow was able to learn not flinch and actually did not blink for that scene
This is how I'd rate the hero's and their stories
1.Marv
2.John
3.Dwight
Has anyone asked about the make of the green screens used here? The large wall junts plus the seemingly sheet version used to drape over things. Any clue would be appreciated!
if you could upload the shining behind the scenes shit that would be amazing
Say what you want about Rodriguez's remorseless creative freedom, you can't deny that it worked in his advantage big time in this case
So cool
