I think If Henry hadn't killed Anne there would always have been a question mark over his next marriage. It's scary how Henry just killed people when they became inconvenient to him. I've always wondered the times he was on his own if he ever thought about the people who were missing from his life either directly or indirectly because of him. I wouldn't like to have been inside his head on a bad day 🤣 xxx

My question. Do you think perhaps that Elizabeth the 1st, by not having a marriage or children purposely ended the Tudor dynasty as revenge towards her father executing her mother? I have often felt this. That this was the real reason. I mean Elizabeth was so strong willed I do not believe any man could have ruled her but she knowingly ended the Tudor Dynasty. Which she knew consumed her father. Your thoughts?

The Tudors on Netflix is what has peaked my interest in the Tudor Dynasty. It’s fascinating! Thanks for clarifying that Mary is Margaret. Love learning all the facts! When the world calms down, and it’s safe to travel, we would love to go to Hampton Court. Has anyone on this page toured Hampton Court?

My husband and I did in 2003. It was bucketing down with rain so we didn’t get to visit the gardens. It is so worth it. They were so kind to us. My husband had a walker so they went out of their way to save him climbing stairs ( which we were so totally prepared to do) . Very ,,very kind and full of information and stories for us. You’ll find it very worthwhile. I wish you hope for getting there. You’ll love it. The Chapel, the tennis court - the corridor . Which, if you don’t mind me giving you a spoiler, was not the corridor that Catherine Howard ran down . Go down actual corridor, it’ll give you goosebumps. And that was before the guide informed us. I kept falling behind and saying ‘ I don’t like this, I don’t like this’. The guide loved it and that’s when he told us. They love people who are really interested in history and not just going because “ well, I’m in England , I’d better do the ‘tourist thing’. We found that wherever we went. They really appreciate it if you’re genuine. Hope I haven’t written too much. Mindoro hope you get there. Respect from Australia 🇦🇺

I did my genealogy and found out that my family was enriched by Henry the 8th. When he dissolved the monasteries he gave my ancestors land and money.

His leg wound was often re opened by the doctors bc they thought it needed air. Barbaric but true. Medicine was bad. Love your work. ❤❤❤❤ also Henry always had Catholic leanings.

I just love your podcasts and especially this one. Like you, I love the Tudors series from Showtime and at first the inaccuracies bothered me but I love the acting, especially Sarah Bolger’s portrayal of Mary. I agree with you that she got a raw deal historically and the series truly showed that.
Like you, I was drawn to the Tudors initially by watching TV but my inspiration came from the 1970’s BBC series Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson. I also loved watching The Shadow of the Tower with James Maxwell as Henry VII and the portrayal of Margaret Beaufort is compelling.
Finally, when I was doing my husband’s genealogy in the early 2000’s I found out that he is related to many royals through Judith Seymour, his 9th great grandmother. This was very exciting that he has Charles Brandon, Mary Tudor, Edward Seymour, and Henry VII as direct ancestors. Recently I watched a series on Netflix called The King, featuring a young Henry V, and another series about Alfred the Great. The name of the latter series escapes my memory but I was wondering if you watched any of the other series I mentioned and your opinion about them.
By the way, you are NOT boring and I can listen to your podcasts forever and they are very interesting!
From a devoted fan in Georgia,
    Julie
