I don't know about that. Growing up in the 80/90s, we grouped the top martialarts stars in 5 categories. Best Chinese hero aka good guy(Jackie), Best Chinese Villain aka the boss (Hwang Jang Lee ), Best American Hero(Loren Avendo), Best female fighter(Cynthia Rothrock) and best American villain(Franco aka Rion Hunter). This was in Nigeria when films were limited but martial art movies were abundant and we knew little of their trivia's or nationalities. Avendo was huge in Nigeria with all the others due to No Retreat No Surrender 2/3 that were huge then. Michael Dudikoff was too but he was Ninja loll. Sho Kosugi was Master Ninja of all Ninja actors then.

Good job Mr Adkins! With this series, you are doing a better job than many other regular interviewers. And glad to see some love for the Seasonal Films productions from that time period. Keep them coming!
One correction though: I'm pretty sur Loren Avedon is mixing up Meng Hoi with Yuen Biao. Meng Hoi was the usual choreographer for Corey Yuen during the 80ies and they do have some similar appearances.
Lastly, one fun fact: When I started covering HK cinema back in the early 2000ies and talked with people from the industry, I remember asking them if there was a potential martial art star around. And I got several telling me "this Scott Adkins guy has potential". Glad to see they were right!

This was an absolute pleasure to watch. Avedon seems like such a humble, chill dude. It’s always cool when someone you grew up watching turns out to have no ego. And I chuckled at his weed reference at the beginning there. Californians know what’s up!
Edit: And my man’s out here giving a shout-out to “Drive” and Mark Dacascos! One of my favorite movies - maybe the best Hong Kong movie not made in Hong Kong ever. Sakamoto is a legend.

How would the same actor become a completely different character 😅 and by "new" Do you mean a remake or a sequel?.......your idea wouldn't make sense as a sequel because Prang died.....and Keith Cooke is literally the most advanced and impressive martial artist on screen of the original 3. He's the last person you want to take out. And he's not "too old" etc either and can still move incredibly well.
I know personally because I met and trained with the entire King of Kickboxers cast two weeks ago, in addition to Phillip and Simon Rhee, Don The Dragon Wilson, Taimak and Cynthia Rothrock

There's something about Loren's action that looks very compelling. He doesn't look like an actor doing a choreography, no. His moves are so crisp & passionate he looks like as if he really were fighting! That's what sells the action! Sorry to say, even JCVD, his helicopter split kick aside doesn't look convincing in the way he'd punch the bad guys - one simple punch, vibrates like a dildo & a slow-mo kihap that seems to increase gravity by tenfolds that his opponent can't get up for the moment.
