Best of the Best is still Best of the Best! Again, I just rewatched this movie and it just another reminder of what the core spirituality, discipline respect and honor that martial arts are derived from. This movie makes me cry EVERY time I see it. The emotion on display from Eric Roberts & Phillip Rhee's characters is palpable. How can you not connect to their love and loss for their families!?!?!?!? 😢 I could go on and on, this movie is just martial art gold🥇🥇🥇 Thank you yet again Mr Adkins for bringing my heroes back to life❤️

Phillip Rhee was one of the martial artists I was aspiring to be when I was young, unfortunately due to poverty I wasn't able to afford training and no one around knew martial arts. I went to school everyday passing by a karate school but all I can do was look and wonder at the school, dreaming to be taught. I saw No Retreat, No Surrender movie and again, I was dreaming to be a martial artist. Only after 30 years that I was able to make that dream a reality.

He pick me out of the group to support him to train and show some drils. he was impressed by my extreme flexibility that time. It was so cool to join with Him and his brother Simon. He told us for example that your voice is your best weapon ever..
It helped me.. the next years i was strugeling with serious hip damage and a replacement was needed.. my medical insurance refuse to pay the surgery was needed in a foreigend country.. my words was in that time on the highest level to fight for it.. and after 8 years i got a hip resurfacing from Belgium ANCA clinic Gent. Philip is arguably the best pure taekwondo/Korean martial arts practitioner that's ever been on screen. As someone who's done taekwondo for much of my life, his technique is absolutely superb. I also did hapkido for a number of years, and later in the best of the best series Philip's hapkido is equally fantastic. He's just a wonderful example of what the Koreans bring to the martial arts world.

Scott, i totally agree. This is not only an awesome martial arts movie with amazing kicks, it’s a sports-drama with an emotional journey.
When i watched it, it blew me away and it also made me cry, too at the end of the movie. The way he apologized is very touching, also the scene in which the icecream falls down and the brother gives his icecream to his brother. These are taekwondo virtues, that is the meaning of taekwondo.
Phillip, thank you very much for this awesome movie "Best of the Best". It's one of my all-time favorite movies, and it inspired me in so many ways.
Today i am a 5th black belt of taekwondo and my two favourite kicks are of course Twio dwit chagi (jumping back kick) and Momdollyo huryo chagi. (spinning hook kick). And a reason for that is you and your movie.
I am very impressed by the „back kick-scene“ on the pad and the reading blows the scale and your colleague flies backwards and takes a short break. It is a pleasure to watch and I wanted to be able to do that, too. Also the stone-breaking with the inside of the hand. I trained hard and with passion for many years an then i was able to made it. Kyokpa with 10 Stones with a sonnaldung chigi (punch with the inside hand edge).
Best oft the Best is a wonderful movie, a pleasure to watch and truely emotional. Thank you Phillip. PS: Yes, we love martial arts movies in germany ;-)

German fanboy here - I must have seen "Best of the Best" for the 1st time in the early 90s when it was shown on a loop on cable. I still turn into a cry-baby when Dae-Han hobbles towards Tommy and asks for forgivness. And yes, we are very much into physical media; I got "Undisputed" 3 and 4 on the DVD shelf to prove it. ;)

The best of the best 4 I used to watched that many times coz of his martial arts shown and teach all the staff policemen during class training session. And then his action style with lots choreography of martial arts thing he performed it soooo cool! I was 12 years old at that time. Gosh, God bless you sir Phillip Rhee. Thanks to sir Scott Adkins who bring all the legends martial arts to show all the audiences who watching right now.

Remember that the show was about action movies, we know that in some movies most Hollywood actors does not have any Martial Art skills but they need to learn to become action guys, examples are the likes of Christian Bale,Liam Needson or even the great Keanu Reeves who all are now recognized as action guys. The audience definitely deserve to know their experience in the training they had to do to be the expert in hand to hand combat that they portray and what kind of Martial Art they had to learn. Like Matt Damon for the Bourne series.

Dudikoff would be good if Scott could get him. He didn't have a martial arts background initially, but I'm sure he has a lot of good stories given the number of action movies he made. Some of his movies like American Ninja I & II are classics of the budget action genre.
