    I have got exact same telescopic nunchaku so let me leave my opinion here.
    First thing i noticed is that they are much heavier than i expected (so they are harder to handle etc..), you just need to get used to them. I used to train with wooden nunchaku and its really diferent.
    Second thing is that after you use them you HAVE TO tight the screw, that is holding the chain or else it will get loose and one part of nunchaku will fly away as you are swinging it.
    But there is one enormous problem. If you will train with them, you will be hitting heavy bag or some wooden pole and you will be hitting hard. The nunchaku will "break" in the joints connecting the telescopic parts (it happend to me). In the video you can see that the parts are narrowed in the joints, so it will hold together. But If you will be hitting your opponent or training subject hard, it will plasticaly deform, the joints will get wider and the nunchaku will no longer hold together. It is mostly problem of technology of production. It can be "repaired" with pliers and greater force, but it will never be just like before.

    Bought a pair of these from a pawn shop few years back.
    Great for muggers and anyone else who wants to give you trouble on the street. Keep them concealed until you need them. Soon as someone wants to cause you some trouble beat them over the head with these until they run away or fall unconscious on the ground.

    • @EnsoMartialArts
      @EnsoMartialArts  4 года назад +4

      Yeah they lock in place, but you can lock them too much and struggle to get them back in. Better to have them a bit loose, when they are swinging the momentum holds them out.

    • @EnsoMartialArts

      Yes they are not really designed to be hit against stuff, if you want to smash things a wooden pair will probably last longer. Still can't guarantee they'll survive long term though, just last longer

      @@EnsoMartialArts I know that but it's the telescopic aspect that is mentioned in the most recent laws. A telescopic nunchaku is not the same as a 'telescopic baton', but does the law care? That is my point

    I have a very similar pair, but don't know if they are the same manufacturer. Mine weigh 553 grams so the weight is about the same. Let me say first of all that 550g in weight is not an average weight for nunchaku. These are very heavy, and would typically be used for combat, they would not be used for freestyle stuff unless you are very good or very stupid. Typically, any nunchaku 350 grams or over would be more for combat (self-defense). That said I do have a pair of stainless steal nunchaku that I would use with freestyle moves and I can use the 550g chrome nunchaku with freestyle type rolls etc. But due to the weight, length and chain length they are not easy to control. If you want to do freestyle stuff these are not the ones for you. If you get in a lot of fights then these could be the ones for you. But be warned, if you don't know what you are doing, you may well end up in worse shape than your enemy.

      @@EnsoMartialArts My dad made me my first pair of nunchaku when I was about 13 years old (59 now). I still have them, and they are in pretty good condition. Amazing really because I hit brick walls steak pipes, doors and my head with those things.I just copied what I saw in Bruce Lee movies I would sneak into (all his movies wer adult so had to sneak in).Then about 15 years ago took up Karate again and they had nunchaku classes. But they were kinda disappointing, as I was better than the guy teaching. Since then, I have helped out at the club on training and practiced at home over the years and got my self a nice little collection of home made and bought nunchaku. I don't do much practice now but a did a youtube video a few years ago. I am no expert but I know more than most I guess.

    Can't they make this in 10.5'' or 12'' with bearings,
    6 or 7 link chain (5.5'' is fine) we only need two
    sections , not necessarily 3 .
    The ones you have are out of stock anyway, but
    they look like they don't really lock open that well, is that the case?

    • @EnsoMartialArts
      @EnsoMartialArts  3 года назад

      Hey man, these are actually harder and harder to get hold of now, so different styles for the chucks will be almost impossible. I've never seen 2 section only ever three. They lock out really well if you throw them out hard, but you can get them stuck for good. Is a fine line between staying out and really staying out
