new sub! thank you so much for this video! i'm a highschool student in canada and i've been trying to decide whether i want to be an aesthetician or esthetician😭 i also have a few questions:
-do aestheticians handle needles or any cutting into the skin type of work?
-to become an aesthetician(medical esthetician) would you have to become an esthetician first? and then upgrade to an aesthetician(medical esthetician)? thank you so much!
Hello love that is great news…we need more estheticians!!! :)
Do aestheticians handle needles or any cutting into the skin type of work? Aestheticians nor estheticians do not handle needles as of cutting anything on the skin both esthetician and aesthetician do facials, body treatments, waxing and superficial chemical peels. Of course, aesthetician work more in your dermatologist office, reconstructive offices and will therefore be under the Dr. Supervision to perform I would call it more medical grade services such as laser treatments, but again it depends on your state or where you are from as far as the rules and regulations. It’s a very grey area.
To become an aesthetician (medical esthetician) would you have to become an esthetician first? Since they are both the same thing in a sense you would be an esthetician and if you decided to work in a more medical grade office as an esthetician you would be consider an aesthetician due to the type of services you perform and where you work. But ultimately both esthetician and aesthetician do the same thing. Aestheticians may need more certification and skills depending on what they are trying to add while being an esthetician.
Hopefully this helps love. Thanks so much for your questions. I truly appreciate it.
@@SBEaesthetics Thank you so much for taking the time to answer it AHHH, im looking forward to it:)) 💌
@@Jermilyn your welcome love
@jermilyn Heyyy I’m also in high school and In Canada i lowkey wanna do esthetician or aesthetician but not sure which one orrr would u like to be friends to chat more about this like on instagram?
I'm pretty sure she is pronouncing Aesthetician that way so ya'll can tell which word she is talking about because in real life, they are pronounced the exact same.
✔️
You are correct. They are pronounced the same just written differently. The "A" is used in Canada and Europe. The one beginning with an "A" differentiates in the US when referencing medical or paramedical. Signed, An Aesthetic Nurse and Licensed Esthetician. 😊😊
Yess it helps
😂
@petitpile: I guess she figures that the distancing from the real-life nature of the two words in this context can nevertheless get you to more conveniently get a sense of the differences between them. It is good to have an idea of these things like you did, where we can try to see why a person did something when we think we have a correction lined up. Indeed, instead of saying "actually, this is like this," we can say things like "this person probably meant this or did this for this reason, because actually this is like this outside of that context," but we can recognize the context in which people say things, and realize that what we might think of as a correct correction actually needs to be tweaked so that it doesn't miss the context, as well as the thrust of the message and point that the person is trying to make.
I have got to say, Wow. What beautiful makeup. You're glowing. Absolutely beautiful.
I’m a ME(medical esthetician) student in Canada. You need to be a Nurse or PRN to do injections, botox, cutting into skin, and etc.. ME’s work in a medical field like alongside doctors & nurses and can work in clinical spas, solo, etc. The only difference from a regular esthetician is, ME’s use medical grade products and learn more in-depth about the skin on a medical basis’. Please do research for all the Canadian babes out there, Americans have it easy so anything flies.
Thanks for the information. Yes Medical Estheticians could work alongside nurses, dermatologist or most medical clinics. I totally can understand. Even in America each state has their own set of rules and requirements. I would someday have to take a look at Canadian rules and regulations for estheticians and ME's.
Hi @OnlyMielle I'm in Canada as well and trying to get into medical esthetics, I'm in Ontario and currently researching schools. Are you in Ontario? If yes do you mind telling me where you're currently studying so I can add that to my options and do a more indepth research.
Hello @@Dorothy_A I currently study at Anderson College for Advanced Medical Esthetics. The only thing about the school is they don’t offer invasive treatments for example: microblading, lash extensions, dermaplanting, microneedling, brow lamination & lash lift
@OnlyMielle Thanks a lot for responding. It's actually the first school I considered, early last year but at the time they didn't have a start date as they were still in the process of building their studio then. I will take into consideration the information you provided. Thank you again!
@@Dorothy_A it’s a great school and I’ve got the best teacher - Shweta S. She use to run her own med spa so I’m trained by someone who is licensed. Wishing you all the best in your search for a school 🙏🏾
Thanks for this amazing explanation! I really need this since I am targeting both Esthetician and Aesthetician as Social Media Manager and really need to know the difference of it. Also I love the way you gave a twist to the pronunciations so that us, viewers, can really understand what you are explaining about. ❤
Glad it was helpful! You are welcome! Thats good you decided to focus as well as a social media manager for estheticians its needed💚
@@SBEaesthetics Yeees! Just recently since I decided to niching down my target market. Hope I can find client who will need my service. Hoping for your success on your own journey as well. ;) ❤
Always was confused with what the difference was lol, I put together a content strategy for people who want to start a Med Spa. Lots of Value
Thank you! and that's awesome!!!
You did a good job explaining the terminology. Thanks
Thank you so much! 😊
what additional certifications you recommend for someone hoping to become an aesthetician? i am going to start esthetics school in august but when i graduate i want to go directly into a medical office. what is your advice for doing so? also thank you for this video. you are beautiful and i love your vibes.
Great questions and thank you love. So basically from what I know medical aestheticians have to take on other trainings such as laser treatments, complex chemical peels and/or more. I believe once you get the additional training for becoming a medical aestheticians then you will get a certification. Congratulations on starting esthetic school this is great to hear. My advice would be to get licensed in becoming an esthetician and then after that take the additional training you would like to do to become a medical aesthetician. So, basically there is no additional license to become a medical aesthetician they are generally the same as estheticians. Be sure to check with your state for more up-to-date information. Hopefully this helps.
@SBEaesthetics I am sorry to bother you. I also have a question. I hope it's not a dumb question. Where does one find the time for additional training while working as a esthetician to move up the ladder. One cannot take these courses while working full-time, is that correct?
I am 14 and want to become an esthetician when I am older love your videos ❤
Awww thank you!!! This is awesome, keep learning and keep growing your doing a good thing watching videos related to becoming an esthetician, your going be a great esthetician!!! 💚
Is it worth going to an aesthetician for a facial? Or is it better to stick to facials with an esthetician? An aesthetician facial where I'm located costs $200, while an esthetician facial costs $60. What's the difference?
Great questions! so basically they both do the same thing. However, since the aesthetician is more of your medical background clinic setting they will charge more for a facial due to being able to offer more such as equipment and/or machines that a regular esthetician could not use. Also having that medical or clinical background it increases the price tag which could result and a higher cost for a facial. Estheticians can perform similar facials as aestheticians in many cases we do. However, estheticians are limited due to the fact we don't have that extra medical background/clinical experience - unless of course the esthetician has medical or clinical certificates that will allow them to perform what an aesthetician can perform. I hope this helped answered your question. Again, great questions 😊
@@SBEaesthetics Oh, so basically, Aesthetician is like some levels up from an esthetician?? Sorry, I was still confused at the end lol
@@stefanie2883 yeah
@@stefanie2883 Yes in a sense, which is why the price tag is a bit higher. Great Question!

Hello, I appreciate this video!
Glad you appreciate it! 😊
Thank you 🥰
You welcome love 😊
My thing what is better ? Being a medical esthetician ?? Or a esthetician ?
I can't really say which is better, but if you're interested in the medical field and like the atmosphere, setting, and setup, you may want to consider working at a dermatologist's office or clinic.
If you want to focus on specific services, such as makeup or lashes, then you may want to consider working at a spa, working for yourself, or a beauty studio.
Keep in mind that there is no specific degree for a medical esthetician, you get a license as an esthetician and obtain extra medical certifications related to the field.
You can then find work as an esthetician, which some jobs may refer to as a medical esthetician.
Hopefully, this helps.
Great question!
@@SBEaestheticshlo mam i have a question please do reply as an international student if i want to pursue diploma in esthetician do i need any previous degree or certificate in the same feild or not?? Please guide me how can i become esthetician as an international student i mean is it mandatory to relate with medical feild or not ? Humanities students can become estheticians or not?? Plz do reply mam 🙏🙏
Thank you sista 🎉🎉
You are so welcome sis
What about permanent eyebrow tech? Is that esthetician or aesth? I know I have to get tattoo license with the state of florida
I wouldn't consider it a medical background type. But either or could offer permanent eyebrow services of course with the required certification. Great question.
@@SBEaesthetics thank you
Love your videos.
Thank you love!
Omg those eyebrows 💣💥👍
While thank you! I need to get back to them!!!
Are two different path on beauty or you can perfom any with the same studies ?
An esthetician and an aesthetician are essentially the same thing. They both refer to a professionals who specialize in skincare and beauty treatments, hopefully this helps.
So can i start of the esthetican program. Then after that take additonal classes asthestian ?
Yes, it's better that way, but you can learn other things while your in the esthetician program as well. Just depends.
Okay so what is an aesthetics nurse?
basically is a RN that provides aesthetic and cosmetic services
@@SBEaesthetics I hope there is a huge pay difference though right?
Aesthetician are nurses

Can you go to a beauty college to become an esthetician or do u have to go to esthetician schl
you have to complete an esthetics training program from a licensed esthetic or cosmetology school
Hello dear
I don’t know weather you will answer or not but if u could help me to find out good aesthetic courses in Canada college I want to enroll in it.
Regards
I'm not familiar with Canadian aesthetic courses because I'm not from Canada, but if you Google "Canadian aesthetic courses," I'm sure something will pop up.
I found two esthetics programs at Esthetics Program Durham College and Esthetics Program at Seneca College, but you may want to do more research to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the programs.
Hopefully this helps. Thanks!
For body sculpting like cool scupting (cool sculpting, emsculpt, etc) aestheticians or estheticians then?
I would assume you would have to be a medical esthetician (aeesthetician) to be able to perform this as a service. Please check with your state, because rules and regulations look different per state.
As a med spa owner I knew Aesthetician was medical but didn’t know that originates in Canada…thx
Yes ma’am! Your welcome!
Thank you lady! This is a simple question yet I did not know the differences before. New sub here.
Glad it was helpful!
Came here thinking I wanted to be a medical esthetician..... but realizing I had no idea what a medical esthetician actually did!
Maybe that's something I can talk about!
@@SBEaesthetics Hi! Could you please and also talk about how a esthetician can focus more on skin care with client other than just facials.
I go to a medical spa and most of the services are done by surgical technicians
Is there an actual license for Medical Aesthetician/Esthetician in USA? I have not heard of one.
Via the NCEA implying you are a medical esthetician or medical Aesthetician is against the Ethics for saying anything other than what you are, on your actual License via your state. That would be unethical
Licensing in the US is for either a licensed Esthetician or Licensed Master Esthetician. In my state only Licensed Master Estheticians can perform more medical esthetics under a physicians supervision.
❤
There is no specific license for medical estheticians. However, you can obtain certifications in any medical-related field to supplement your esthetician license. It depends on the job requirements for the position you are applying for.
This is really ridiculous that this women is trying to make this up, there is no difference l, the spelling is different due to being a Greek word, a is properly added to the beginning of the word to remain silent. It looks more proper the way it is spelled. Where is this women getting her information, it’s false.aesthetician is spelled in Greek, esthetician is spelled in English. That’s all.

Do Aesthetician and esthetician get pay the same?
Hi, so all pay would look a bit different per person, per education and so on. I would say Aesthetician could potentially make more definitely because most who say they are aesthetician have that medical background behind them. Hopefully this helps! Great question!
Thank you for this clarification ❤
You are so welcome 💚
Thank youuu❤

Hey , I am a newly licensed esthetician and want to get into a med spa what do u recommend for me ? Do they train on the job if u don’t have experience or do they want me to have advanced training?
You would more than likely need to have some sort of additional training other than an esthetic license, but that could vary from place to place. Some med spas could provide additional training once hired. I would just call the med spa or any med spa and sort of see what are the requirements for an esthetician to work there. Hopefully this helps. Great question.
Congrats on Becoming a Newly Esthetician...YASS!!!
