Since they don't provide power, those are cold shoes. Thanks for the video. I looked at the Telesin when I was shopping around and selected the Smallrig because the battery/micro sd door was still accessible.

And I bought the Smallrig for the same reason. I ended up adding a smallrig cold shoe to the battery side.

Yes on the Telesin you cannot plug in the microphone directly because the purpose of the cage is to put your microphone on the cold shoe, that's why I've ordered the Telesin
I don't use a mic on mine, the cage is more for protection, but to your point, yes, the extra cold shoe on Telesin helps. However, depending on your transmitter, you might have an issue getting it flushed on the side. The Smallrig was modified so that the transmitter is flushed to the body.
I just bought the small rig as in some situations the tripod mount feels safer.
I did have one of the magnetic clips break while using on off road bike.
Thanks for sharing! I haven't had a magnetic clip broken on me, but I can see it's possible depending on the activity.
No "hotshoe" connection on either. Cold shoe on both.

That’s a speaker on top not a microphone. The two microphones are on the front under the lens.
Hey, thanks for watching and for the comment! You are correct. That's the speaker. The microphones are located in front underneath the lens and a third one at the bottom.
I just ordered a Telesin, but I need to shoot vertixally in my fpv drone. Is the magnetic adapter strong enough to not fall while flying?
Nevermind, just fund a guy in a DJI forum showing he flies with his osmo action 4 on a Cessna’s wing 🙃 pretty impresive tbh. The forum name is “Forum DJI - Solid Magnetic /Clip Mount”
Just make sure the adapter is plushed. Sometimes, I rush and end up not getting the locks properly in place. The magnet is strong enough, but if you're on a bike riding a trail, for example, I can guarantee it will fall if the locks are not engaged.

@Bikepacking I think it will, I don't have it yet, I bought a Comica VM10 pro digital mic first. If you review the video at around 3:20, the smallrig's rear is machined in a way that if you put a receiver on it, it's plushed to the body.
@@dadstoysnthings i have the rode wireless go 2 but changing it out to dji mic as the rode uses 3 usb c sockets to charge compare to to dji mic case only use one

Smallrig design fail: don’t use a screw mount. Either of them will screw straight into the body of the camera.

I read Polytech is a nice cage, have you heard of it?
You maybe referring to the PGytech cage, yes it is a nice cage but it doesn't have the modified rear to accommodate a mic adapter in case you want to use one.
@@dadstoysnthings Do any of the brands have it all; ie full access to battery SD card and moke adapter?
I only bought the Telesin, Pgytech, and Smallrig, so I can only speak of those 3. Only Telesin does not have battery access.
Telesen quality is great for its price! Smallrig piece is 2x of Telesen 👎
Appreciate the comment, and I agree on price point for Telesin. For functionality, I went with SmallRig as I wanted the ability to remove the battery and card without taking off the action camera from the cage.
