I had a similar issue when I bought and Intermountain ET44AH. The little tiny pegs that go into the train to old the sunshade in where damaged. I contacted Intermountain and they just sent me a fairly expensive quote for two sunshades... Needless to shay that unit does not have sunshades... I am defiantly more impressed with my Scale Trains ET44AH over the Intermountain model. Mainly that there weren't any small delegate parts that I had to install myself. I hope Scale Trains is the kind of company that would do what they did for you for anyone. The Scale Trains products are so nice looking! I have been buying waaaay too much. I just recently bought 4 of there Bulkhead flats. When the coil cars come out I am probably going to have to buy at least 4 of those! Anyway... Glad you're back and making videos!
Brandon, we want to make sure our customers are taken care of! If you ever have damaged or missing parts on a ScaleTrains locomotive purchased through our website or a Select Retailer, just contacts us directly and we will make sure you have replacements free of charge. We take pride in our models and want to make sure the customer receives exactly what is advertised. Thank you!
Awesome glad customer service took care of you. I spoke to Paul from #scaletrains yesterday about your video and he is very professional and friendly towards customers. Happy railroading and #keepheronthetracks 👊🏾✌🏽
That's awesome! I'm glad they are putting forth such great effort on customer service. Something like thta goes a long way. Customers remember that sort of thing. Smart on their part.
If you'd like to change the speakers and get better sound, I'd suggest Scale Sound Speakers. JT Burke has done a fantastic job with them and they're made to the specific model for easy installation. They're the only speakers I'm gonna use from now on.
Great video. I'm model n scale and brought the Atlas GP39-2 and the sound file sound like crap. A friend of mine has a lock programmer and we made some changes and yip lost the sound file. So we downloaded the GP39-2 file and it was a huge improvement. We have alot more functions with regards to sound slots. Atlas were not a great help on the original issue. Great video on explaining the issue when playing around with esu decoders. Like most of us we learn from making mistakes.
Man I absolutely love your videos I’ve seen em all twice you do an excellent job reviews and things your layouts great I’m just getting back into ho scale I model norfolk southern southern i just don’t have alot right now if you have any extra old track old engines freight cars I’d be interested in them thank you keep up the great videos!!!
I've noticed Scale Trains being responsive (maybe even proactive) on review videos. People post their review/update they got the engine and if any issues are presented in that video there is a comment from Scale Trains YT Channel about setting course to get things corrected. Very modern way of interacting with customers. Thanks for sharing!
I think it's a really smart on their part. Customer service goes a long way, and customers remember that sort of thing. Glad to see they are doing a great job at it.
When I got mine I flashed my own file in there. I personally don’t like there files to begin with. I’d rather have my own opportunity to put whatever file I want in it then have it pre programmed . But good job man! Keep up the progress. Love to see more vids.
Hey DG...Thanks for the very informative update. I sure hope Loksound or Scale Trains has an explanation/fix for the SB5 interfering with the onboard power pack. I just received two BNSF Dash 9 engines and was about to order the SB5. Now I'll hold off until there is a fix. Thanks again and good to see you are back in the "saddle"....Fred
Norfolk Southern #8102 And Union Pacific #7964 ES44AC's Intermountain Railway Co. With ESU Loksound And Raised Letter K5HL Reversed 1L Bell And Some Union Pacific SD70AH's 2007-2008 K5LLA Custom Horns.
Great video! ScaleTrains is definitely a top notch operation. It is odd about the GE whoop air compressor. It works on F20 but isn’t automatic like it should be.
I once had an ESU decoder in one of my locos (pre-installed) and had the worst time ever trying to get it to sync with other options like ditch lights and chuffing amongst other CV's.. One almost has to have both patients of steel and a degree in electronics engineering... BUT... once every single CV is synced, you can NOT buy a more authentic and precise decoder
I own three ScaleTrains Dash 9s (two just came in the last week, the other one back in January when they were announced) and I downloaded a new file from ESU for all three because for some reason the compressor is not automatic like the prototype. I used two different prime for three locomotives. It’s like the ST file is a converted V4.0 file as it does not have all the features that the V5 decoder has. Anyways, that’s good to know that your locomotive is now in tip top shape.
Its really nice that you can customize the decoder and what you call things within the program itself. hahaha what are those guys doing up a 1:30 lol. I keep my prime mover volume at 20 or lower!
I'm still undecided on which way to go with my Atlas HO B23-7 for sound. They both sound cool AF to my ears, but I've never been by the same locomotives with one sound from LOK Sound and the other from Soundtraxx. Then I don't know anything about programming the unit with lights and sound. I was thinking of ESU for EMD and Soundtraxx for GE models. So what's the biggest advantage's / disadvantages between Lok Sound and Soundtraxx?this is how far I'm behind with DCC. The only difference between the two I 've noticed is the spelling!
I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference. The reason I lean towards Loksound, is the programmability. If you have the ESU Lokprogrammer, then you can upload any sound file you want to that decoder. If you decide to then use that decoder in a different style locomotive, all you have to do is upload a different sound file that would be accurate for that locomotive. Also makes it so much easier making any type of other changes. Must easier than trying to use JMRI or your throttle. As of recent, Soundtraxx has produced decoders with multiple prime mover sound files on them, but I still like the programmability of ESU better. But to be honest, it doesn't matter which one you decide to go with, they are both great!
Wow.. hey Buddy nice engine.. scale trains did good.. thanks for sharing and keep up the great work... Lance p.s. nice to see you in the train room again.. lol
I'm having the same problem with my MTH gevo power pack! Running with ESU Ecos. Puts out about 6~7 amps... No power pack?? I'll try with my original bachmann ez command wich puts out 1 amp, see what happens?

Oh man! I'm sorry to hear that..
