- My 1965 Porsche 911 is the 310th ever made and originally sold through my favorite dealership, Brumos Porsche of Jacksonville, FL. According to the cars records, it was one of the the first handful of 911's they ever sold. I've done a few "sport purpose" modifications to this car and really enjoy talking it into the canyons for a spirited drive.

Its end of May 2018 building 2 Datsun Z cars. And surely you can not mention Brumos without Peter Gregg .This guy was Brumos , then Hurley Haywood teamed up and the Brumos Legend was in full swing winning in Motorsports, in the best days of motor racing , when Peter Revson was about, while Lauda and Hunt were causing a ruckus, when race cars had carbs , when movies like le man and grand prix were being made
In the early innocent days of drug smuggling and when tbis world was purculating with life and crazyness.
Brumos has a rich history of Porsche. They were bonded and branded as one in a time when porsche was a little foriegn car in the states muscling in against the V8 of America. Corvettes, cobras,
And Porsche working hard swimming up stream coming to grips in breaking the mold " if it doesnt have a V8 it doesnt rate"
Here we are today the flat six still Still pitted up against the V8, the v10 the V12 and holding its own still.Many Many Many car makes and models have come and gone.But that 911 with all the ghosts in its past, are still in the same spirit.In basically the same design formula, still proving, improving on an idea ,with faith, determination and innovation ,
Rather than chasing whats fashionable at the time, or giving in to penny pinchers and marketing departments and " non drivers whims"
Porsche stayed steadfast to the original design concept and "Driver" .It is why Porsche is a Drivers Sports Car.There has nor ever will be any other Car company that has acheived a more devout
Dedication to man and machine than Porsche " the rest have always been playing catch-up"

My first true exposure to the 911 was in 1964 when the father of a schoolmate of mine in Wiesbaden, Germany purchased a white over red 911. I believe it was either a 64 or a 65. (Rear 911 deck script on the diagonal). A tiny car, he did bring it back to the states when they returned a couple years later. The early 911s are so small compared to today's monsters. But then, even the early Honda Civics have grown substantially since they first came out. It seems everything continues to grow. Many aspects of the very early 911s emulate the driving characteristics of my 1964 356C coupe (red over black). Once you drive a 356 you quickly understand why Porsche has been such a successful car company. I am on my fourth and fifth Porsches right now, starting with a '73 914 acquired used in 1974. My other, a factory delivery in 2006, is a '06 Carrera S Cabriolet in paint-to-sample blue turquoise, over natural brown leather, with PCCBs and hardtop. Terrific cars, every one of them. Mangus is fortunate to acquire one from each year. He gets to experience the engineering growth of the company. A company obsessed with making excellent things better and better with a policy of continuous improvement.

My first Porsche that i bought was titled a 66 but was actually a 64 chassis # 159 if i remember correctly

We still own 2 65's Dave Morse first 911 and another.
My brother bought Daves car and did an upgrade to it that made it look like a turbo in 1977, the cops stpped him reguraly thinking he was a drug dealer

Like Magnus has.Most porsche owners are affluent enough and not realy hands on mechanical guys.So they have allot of money tied up in their cars. Cause they are brought to the " shop"
Tbey have to ask more money to get their money out of it, they are ussually all garage kept so they are mostly older cars in good solid condition , low miles and made with porsche quality. They dont have any reason to lose value.
Most are hardly driven during its life.

The 911 is the poor man's 928. Sorry - I gotta call balls and strikes. the 928 was European "Car" of the Year 1979. No other sports car including the 911 has ever won "Car" of the year. The 928 has won 2 production car land speed record at Bonneville (1986 and 2020) - the 911 has exactly won none. Even 911 enthusiast Magnus Walker has started his 928 collection - its Now or Never for the 928 still the biggest bang for the buck in Porsche's line up. Singer could easily reimagine 928s - its just a matter of time before someone or Magnus specializes in outlawing 928s. There is no substitute.

Brumos is obviously famous in the US but unheard of in the UK. Good video though, always enjoy Magnus videos.
The Brumos red white an blue was iconic and definitely unique! Loved the stripe! Hurley and Peter where synonymous with Porsche / IMSA. I was fortunate enough to have worked for Dan Mcloughlin / AIR. Got to see and work on some phenomenal Porsches.... from RSR’s , 935’s to the restoration of the Penske / Donahue can am monster 917 - 30. Love your show an the memories it reignites! Keep em coming plz.

Dad was tge lead Porscge mechanic at West Side in MPLS.
He did the delivery prep for most of the 66, 67 and 68 911's in that part if the country, ie the Dakotas, MN, eastern WI, most of IOWA

Beautiful 911! My '65 91 is a mid-June baby and is wearing her track livery (roll cage, racing seats and belts, race suspension, etc and under 2K #'s.) After nearly 30 years with her no amount of money can convince me to let her go, she's just too special. Thanks for sharing, Magnus, I love to hear an early SWB 911 stretching its legs.

Magnus can afford to buy the BRUMOS name. Because the current owner Mr Davis has absolutely NO interest what so ever , in the vintage side of BRUMOS which in itself is a huge enthusiastic following.
It seems, Hurley Hayward, has interest in the vintage side of things.
But Mr Davis.. he is over the vintage thing.
