one of the most underrated bands EVER! met norwood at the musikmesse and i was honored that i could chat with one of my heroes! DAMNATION 2 those who haven't put these geniuses n the rock and roll hall of fame! the world sleeps on genius AGAIN!
First time I saw fishbone was SNL ,they blew my 14 year old mind I've been a fishbone soldier ever since ,,so original and the energy they bring they were and are soooooo underated
This performance is great. Caught these guys @ Newport in Columbus Ohio a couple times. Always a killer show. Exceptionally talented band! This song killz me!
First saw Fishbone open for Beastie Boys in 1986 or maybe 87. Totally blew them away. Not even a contest. The Beastie Boys drunkenly rapped for 30 minutes, threw beers around and had strippers in cages. Fishbone just destroyed everybody else on the stage it and I got to tell Angelo that after the show.
These guys are "tighter than a mosquitos @ss live"-Angelo. I saw them on sunset strip in '94. Just amazing. Angelo took 10 minutes out to talk to me 1on1! No arrogance, no facade. WHY AIN'T THESE GUYS ON TOP?!? Just a shame.
It’s that Beatlesque Brit thing with trumpets. It’s a call to existence. A call to pride as humans somehow. And yes, you are rebel on the spot. It does summon emotion up rather quickly.☮️
Special K Kendall Jones!!! Always had the perfect guitar part for the song- solo, riff or whatever. The most under rated axe man ever. Under rated band for that matter. Got to see them live once at the warehouse in Toronto. During the opening acts Angelo spray painted a massive Fishbone logo on the wall. Another night to re fucking member.
Just saw them for the 1st time in Fresno Ca tonight...great great band. I couldn't believe how spot on they were. Angelo played his heart out, like all of em did. I am a convert now!
Man oh man...this song makes me wanna break thru the wall like the kool aid guy !! What intensity!! The level of energy is off the charts. So beautiful to see a band change the sound of "alternative music" into something so different. Tears of joy!!!
I haven’t seen this since it was aired. Couldn’t help but applaud out loud here at work. Thanks fellas. You made the 90s so truthful, and we will always love you. 🌍☮️🌎🕊️🌎
awww... I was waiting for the end but it got cut off. I remember when I saw it on the air originally. Arsenio came out greet the band and Angelo jumped on his back! Nearly tackled him.
Man I love this band what a powerful song I cure my self listening to fishbone My mom died also my best friend three weeks after my Moms died too, and also my relation ship of 11 years was over. So I was very bad and suddenly started listening to fishbone this band cured my soul. God Bless Them
Has there ever been a piccolo trumpet solo over acoustic guitar like that? It gave me the chills when I first heard it in '91 and still does today! Love Chris Dowd running around with his keyboard too!
I saw these guys when they were still a Ska band in the mid 80's. They have evolved and are as great as ever. Party at Ground Zero is still their anthem.
@MrVeesworld I've got noticed of Fishbone just watching them playing on that SNL episode. I remember I was speachless, feeling just like you did. Cheers from Brazil.
Love this guys, their live show draws you in because no one displays their energy. Saw them 15 years ago open for Stone Temple Pilots and the Chili Peppers and they blew me away.
clearly one of the best 'alternative' songs ever. live, even better. once got kicked in the head from a crowd surfing angelo, bright yellow doc martens.
I was 17 in Washington harDCore scene was in full swing..Bad Brains, Minor Threat/FUGAZI, at the same time the L.A. scene came to us i.e. Circle Jerks, Black Flag (Rollins is orig from DC) I saw FISHBONE on a punk bill @ 9:30 club in D.C.and FELL IN LUV! OH BTW THE 91 SNL/JEREMY IRONS-FISHBONE CLIP is in the Docu "Everyday Sunshine, Story of Fishbone" I just saw it, moshin in my livingroom lol idk y can't find it on YTUBE it's simply awesome. \m/ PEACE, LUV & PUNK U
Apart from the one I saw on SNL , this is perhaps the best performance of the song I've ever seen. I've also seen the original band play twice and it blew me away every time. The later incarnations of the band have been great, but this band was never the same after Kendall Jones left the group.
Now I know, after 32 years ago seeing them on SNL, why I didn't forget it. ISTG, many Saturday's that were cloudy half a life ago til today I would say to myself "sunless Saturday" and remember those opening chords..."du-du-du.." I don't know why it took me this long to try to find this song again. Sometimes I would think that I had just imagined it and had created a false memory. But like I said, seeing this performance I know why I did not forget them. But it was also their unusual artistry and completely outside the box originality--who would have expected a hard rock outfit to have trumpet and acoustic guitars, two lead singers. etc., etc.??
i proudly wore their t shirts in high school. couple friends put on my headphones to see what i was listening to, it was ugly, they were like what is this 50s music, lol not the reaction i was expecting. saw them too at irving plaza, crazy energy. I miss this band
I'm usually a Classic Rock kinda guy - Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Led Zep, the usual suspects. - but these guys put on one hell of a performance! A great song, instrumental chops, a front man that delivers charisma, an incredible energy level, and great vocal ability. You gotta respect 'em.
This song should have been a number 1 or at least in the top ten of it's time but it wasn't. Just makes me think politics of the industry kept this from happening. Since these guys defied classification the classic white slam rock stations of the time didn't want these guys breaking in and the black stations didn't think that this was their genre of music for classic R&B, Soul and Hip Hop crowd. I just can't really figure it out, how such a great song with everything in it...still great to this very day, didn't hit the top of the charts, while other lesser bands music did. Strange....very strange....
They were on shows like Conan......Naw....people knew them, so how they just didn't want these guys in there. Bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers were all in....these guys weren't......i'm just sayin'....
Imo its because you have to be musically inclined to truely appreciate what these guys do and most ppl who listen to the radio dont. They like catchy drum beats and chorus and hooks.
i was just thinking the same - when you consider the energy and frustration that the other great bands channeled - nirvana, FNM, chilis, etc, landed, but fishbones music is more edgy, but i guess it wasnt branded enough. so ballsy how they combined all these genres so masterfully . and so many great songs.. i leant my wonderful life 12" years ago, who knows where it is now!
saw them once at the ritz in NYC and at Lollapalooza in Chicago...The show at the Ritz was a massive party. Everyone was dancing from beginning to end. Met the singer in chicago. Great guy
I remember it the same way, but I also remember that the SNL audience response was tepid to the point it was almost crickets and a golf clap--to the point Angelo looked actively pissed off. Am I just imagining that part?
@LeBigMoneyShow Been going to their shows since the 80s. Going to see them tonight in Orlando. They are still incredibly powerful. Better than any new indie band.
Punk. Metal. Rock. Funk. Just brilliant.
Criminally underrated band. Beautiful, thanks for putting this up.
These dudes are a national treasure.
Truth and Soul was one of the best albums of that era, period.
Props to Fishbone! Saw them at least once in the late eighties..
Fishbone at the absolute peak of their powers. Goosebumps.
This band should have made tons of money!!!🔥🔥Living Color Too💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
one of the most underrated bands EVER! met norwood at the musikmesse and i was honored that i could chat with one of my heroes! DAMNATION 2 those who haven't put these geniuses n the rock and roll hall of fame! the world sleeps on genius AGAIN!
YES!!! the SNL performance was AWESOME!!!!
thats my homie ken dogg on guitar. i just seen him last month, he still alive and still all killer.
Having seen this bond live in the late 80's. I can't think of a single band that has more RAW energy in their performances.
One of the best bands ever.
one of the best shows i've ever been to!
Stony Brook University 1992 Primus opened
Saw them in Brixton when I was like 18. They basically turned my head inside out: life changing show.
I remember it... Angelo did a back flip at the opening and thats when I fell in love.
Sigh...memories of Fishbone shows from when I was young. The most fun you could have with your clothes mostly on.
I saw this as a kid and it left such an impression that I still think about and hum that trumpet line to this day.
Hands down the best Live band period.....!!!!!
Great song. I get all pumped up by the energy and suddenly at the end the horn solo brings tears to my eyes.:)
Hahahahaha
@behindthen0thing525 Wow! I was not expecting a reply to my 14-year-old comment.
i love that you did. @@starwarsrebel2006
It’s that Beatlesque Brit thing with trumpets. It’s a call to existence. A call to pride as humans somehow.

I was there wow ........14 years late great show
Yeah? You were on set?
Just saw them for the 1st time in Fresno Ca tonight...great great band. I couldn't believe how spot on they were. Angelo played his heart out, like all of em did. I am a convert now!
One kick ass band live. And very underrated!!
Man oh man...this song makes me wanna break thru the wall like the kool aid guy !! What intensity!! The level of energy is off the charts. So beautiful to see a band change the sound of "alternative music" into something so different. Tears of joy!!!

Hands Down the baddest live Act on planet earth !
In 29 years of live shows, these guys are top 3 without question !!!!!!
You can feel the love when they play
god damnit why can't there be music being like this being made today! fishbone is the SHIT!
awww... I was waiting for the end but it got cut off. I remember when I saw it on the air originally. Arsenio came out greet the band and Angelo jumped on his back! Nearly tackled him.

12 years ago. Hope you're well and at peace bro.
sorry for your loss, i know it was 14 years ago but that pain never fully leaves you. check out iceburn if you dig fishbone, you might like them too!
Stoked yer here sonico
I'm So Sorry for Your Loss 💔💔 I'm Glad They Helped You Thru... 💝
How often do you hear a song that is actually better live than recorded? The energy is unbelievable too.
Fishbone at their absolute peak! Awesome stuff!!
has got to be one of the best songs ever!!
Has there ever been a piccolo trumpet solo over acoustic guitar like that? It gave me the chills when I first heard it in '91 and still does today!
Love Chris Dowd running around with his keyboard too!
yeah and the super tight ending after all the craziness is so good
I saw these guys when they were still a Ska band in the mid 80's. They have evolved and are as great as ever. Party at Ground Zero is still their anthem.
Most amazing performance! God if I coulda been there... We need this in HD!!!
i have it on VHS as well, back in the day its all we had to record sets on TV. might still have it...
@MrVeesworld I've got noticed of Fishbone just watching them playing on that SNL episode. I remember I was speachless, feeling just like you did. Cheers from Brazil.
I met Angelo after fishbone’s set at lollapalooza 93. He was such a cool dude! I miss these guys.😮
Not too many bands that could rock this much. Look at their god damn keyboard guy!!
legendary content.
Angelo and Kendall:
This is still my favorite all-time television performance. You guys nailed this one for eternity.
PREACH!!
Same song, on SNL, was a bit more mind-blowing, but that's splitting hairs.
Past eternity man. Way past
I Heard That One 😎👊💯💯
I always say seeing Fishbone 8 or 9 times in the 90's were the most mind blowing killer gigs ever. Each time totally different too.
That performance was fuarrkin' nuts!!
Red for the blood, Black for the people and Green for the land!!!!
dale85300 yes always remember those 3 colors.
saw this and their snl performance when i was a kid and it blew my mind
Yeah, I've been waiting to find that vid for 15 years. Maybe the greatest performance i'd ever seen. For sure the best ever on SNL.
I have never before seen anyone rock out with a keyboard still attached to it's stand. Brilliant!
this would have been 1991 or1992.
i saw fishbone open for primus in late 1991. truly one of the best live shows i've seen. it was coined as "fishmus".
this is a great performance!! there isn't anything like fishbone !!!!(and there never will be!!!!)
Incredible band.
This is ART!
I LOVE the horns and acoustic guitars on this track. Only Fishbone, baby.
Man They Killed it !!! Right On Arsenio.. That Audience Wasn't Ready for Fish and The Crew (But They Loved it)
Best Line up of the group.......
Tightest band on the planet.
Excellent. I love that performance.
The best ever
Love this guys, their live show draws you in because no one displays their energy. Saw them 15 years ago open for Stone Temple Pilots and the Chili Peppers and they blew me away.
Yes! Fishbone Fantastic! One of the greatest live shows ever. I thank God I got to see them. Simply Amazing!
clearly one of the best 'alternative' songs ever. live, even better. once got kicked in the head from a crowd surfing angelo, bright yellow doc martens.
Awesome performance. Might be the first good thing I've ever seen on the Arsenio show.
Whole Package real deal this song has it all !
God, I love these guys. So glad I got to see them live
These guy's put on a helluva show!
Yeah, the band Fishbone at his top, with Fish on drums, AWESOME !!!
Go see them now. They're as good as ever!
Havent listened to fishbone in a long time after years of binging. Now i come back to their best track imo. Kendall was extraodinary.
One of the GREATEST performances ever on The Arsenio Hall Show!!!
The words to this song reveal so much of Kendall's inner pain. I love Kendall so much. He is gorgeous.

HOLEY SHIT KENDALL NAILED THAT SOLO!!
Mindblowing.
My favorite band. Best mosh pits too.

Used to have all day sessions on my half-pipe and this was one of the songs that made me grind and hit big-ass airs. Backside to this was great!
this is the version of fishbone i miss most - the original - including john bigham. just a drop the bomb energy band i miss period.
