I love this scene. Andy's creative strategies to wriggle himself out of this ackward situation, and the make up artist being over sensitive about innocent mistakes of the actors, makes for brilliant comedy. Haha.

Ricky Gervais comedy is a bit like huge exploding pimple videos, you never know exactly why you put yourself through the torment of trying to empathize with those painful situations but you do it anyway. I suppose in the end you can think to yourself that you're glad it wasn't you.
This is one of those instances in life where just being honest can you get you out of an even more awkward situation later on. It just goes to show how much, as humans, we hate conflict. If he had just said 'i don't know your name, either', granted, it would have been slightly awkward, but nowhere near as much as it became.
This comment deserves more likes mate. I’ve had a slow day, just browsing through some RUclips vids, but I think your contribution is deserving of praise. Well said, my friend.
He does it so the shows feel more real. In real life you aren't surrounded by beautiful charming people which is part of the reason why most tv and film feels so fake and lame
