I sort of liked the US office, but the original UK series is not in the same stratosphere. It is perfect in every way, the best tv show I have ever seen. I have watched every episode dozens of times and it just gets better and better. The writing is perfect, Gervais is amazing, and this opening scene is the best scene in the entire show. But you need to watch the show to get the full effect of why Brent is so frustrated.

I like the Brent character arc - I started by wanting him to be humbled but ended up feeling sorry for him.His lowest point was the celebrity blind date show,there was real pathos there which made his eventual happiness heartfelt. Brilliant series.
