Walcom missed this but the outlaw has the same muzzle as the nexus pro and other similar dart zone blaster so the outlaw is able to take the same barrels those blasters can. This includes scar barrels that work on nexus muzzles
When I first got the Outlaw I was surprised at how significant the prime was. It was pretty difficult at first, but now after using it a bit and figuring out the right angle to prime it, it’s honestly very manageable. I actually have a harder time priming a stock Nerf hammer action with my non-dominant hand than the Outlaw

@@WalcomS7 Wasnt on sale but after watching for months I grabbed the Longhshot. Now to A) Find a Nerf War nearby and B) Maybe or maybe not mod the Longshot. To me the issue with the Longshot isnt the rails or wobbly front prime, its the "ping" after it fires. I have some hard hearing and used to be pitch perfect when I was younger, but that ping is just SOOOOOO loud I dont think I could handle the ping of a even stronger spring.
I feel that the "happy medium" is somewhere between this and their Adventure Force revolver. It seems the hammer design was intended for someone with freakishly large hands. They should have went with something like the 4Victory or Sweet Revenge.
My hands are not freakishly large. I think my hands are relatively small compared to most adult men. I have no problem with handling my Outlaw. But I do agree that the hammer primer could use a much better design. I like that it is relatively hard to pull the hammer down. That just tells me that it's building up quite a bit of potential energy. The Kinetic energy yields me an average FPS of 129. That's a little lower than what I would like. Nexus Pro has spoiled me with their 150+ FPS off the shelf. So now, that's the standard I expect from Adventure Force and Dart Zone..
If you have the X-Shot Longshot, throw that (not so) SCAR barrel attachment on your Outlaw. For whatever reason (I'm assuming mostly barrel length), the shot groups get significantly tighter.
@@rcautoball after a few tests it seems like the scar barrel is make accuracy worse on the outlaw... the internal barrel and scar barrel seperation combined with the relative low speed and the tightness of the scar seem to be causing the darts to either fly out in random directions or with low power (I tested the scar on my dictator and that one is far more accurate though)
The Hammer does not hit your hand if you're priming it one - handed. I have size medium hands and a below - average grip strength and I can hammer - prime this thing while keeping the barrel level.
You may have baby hands, but you got STRONG baby hands, I recently picked one up and I was surprised by how powerful the spring was inside. If I didn't have comically large hands with a good grip strength I would be struggling a bit to pull that hammer down one handed - still instantly fell in love with it
Regarding the hammer travelling into the hand : As opposed to a real gun using gun powder, foam blasters depend on the power of piston, hence the range of a real hammer action gun is not enough to prime a spring powered blaster for up to 125 fps. since there is a need for a longer distance of priming, the hammer cannot be too far forward to make it still workable for one handed. so i understand dart zone has to make the hammer prime all the way down into the hand. its the best design choice workaround / compromise for a stronger prime. if the prime distance is shorter, the spring will have to be adjusted stronger and makes the prime too strong for mass market. or reduce the fps but this is meant to be under Max series.
Walcom this was a pretty spot on review and gave us some good perspectives too. I noticed many of the same things about this blaster. Awesome vid Ty! I got two as well. 😂
Curious as Im newer to Hobby Nerf. Read there is a lighter spring option. Could it be possible with a lighter spring and a modified hammer, one a bit larger and flatter, to "fan the hammer" with the Outlaw. Forget dual wielding, single hand fan the hammer and have 2 or 3 spare cylinders in your loadout. Again newer so not sure what limitations would make this impossible.
Dart zone sells a 2 pack of lower power springs, and OutOfDarts also has an option. I have the OOD spring and it makes it so much easier to one hand prime, I feel it’s what it should have shipped with. It’s a sidearm, it doesn’t need to hit 140…
I had to take my Outlaw apart the other night, I think the plunger spring rotated in such a way that it was blocking the plunger itself from priming. It wasn't difficult to rotate it a bit more to correct the issue, but it did take a moment to figure out what was even wrong, since all the parts were in their correct places.
They did mention in their own livestream that they will be offering a second spring option (not yet for sale when they posted) for a lighter prime and less velocity. Kind of insane the performance it gets already, especially for the price.
I own an Outlaw. I'm very pleased with it. Yes, I do agree that the hammer primer could have been a better design. I measured my gun on a chronograph, and it averaged 129 FPS. I would not recommend using two of them at once much like how you attempted to in this video. But, if you hold the gun like a cop and look at your target and avoid looking through the sites, the guns accuracy can be really good. I find it to be a very accurate weapon.
If i am not wrong you can buy an weaker spring from dartzone themselfs so you can actually fan the hammer (or at least that what they said on their channel) and not break your thumb while dual wielding
Bought one of these and it's awesome. A few awkward things about the ergonomics and I'm sad you can fan the hammer, but it's a great not only novelty but useful side arm that legitimately has advantages over others in that it's one hand primeable.
The point of aim is low on mine. If I line the bottom of the pip on the front sight up with the top of the blade in the back sight it shoots where I want it to. I haven't tested it beyond about 20 feet, but in that range I can hit whatever I want consistently.
I hardly comment but i had to here. I listened to this review by Walcom and was surprised by how critical it was. I usually agree with him, but i decided to get this anyways. It is by far one of the best blasters i’ve gotten from Dart Zone Max besides the Stryker. It makes the Deuce Pro useless (one of the most regrettable blasters i’ve ever bought). It’s comfortable and the hammer is so much easier to prime than the Deuce Pro, and NONE of the feeding problems that plague the DP. It’s friggin great and honestly made me rethink investing in a Nightengale. Yes, it’s only 6 available shots, which the Nightengale is better with, but it’s only $30 compared to the $100 that the Nightengale would be after buying a battery/charger. The Outlaw is an OUTSTANDING side arm blaster. Hits hard and accurate. Don’t second think this blaster- it’s one of the best sidearms available especially at this price point.
I asked dartzone how to get straps and they told me you can attach it to your belt... not sure how that would work (or if it would help you with your tilting issue)
Dark Corps Armory update: just flipped the Deuce PRO to left side and fits WRKR Nightingale perfectly, but also MAXPRO Outlaw on right side pretty well too #savesomecashongearyoualreadymayhavearound
A few of my friends tried the prime on my Outlaws and they had a similar reaction to Walcom. I honestly didn't notice, but then I do construction work so my hands are kinda used to the wear and tear of using tools. I've also got pretty big hands to the hammer is in a comfortable place for me. I would say though that if you're someone with smaller hands or hands that aren't used to manual labor (no judgment or shame, just observation) a hammer prime might just not be the way to go.
I feel like some traditional revolver grip might have made this a bit better ergonomically. Maybe a webleystyle grip since it probably is one of the most advanced
I'm not going to argue that the prime is hella wonky, but I've got big hands so it really doesn't bother me. My first nerf gun was a hammer prime nerf blaster, and this brings me back! Also, I love that it fits other DZ pro attachments.

Theres a bit of technique actually to priming a hammer action specially with small hands I get how it can feel Bad but it is cuz it's not that straight forward
Naw it's because the hammer basically moves into the grip so it has to return automatically or you couldn't properly hold the thing. Great blaster but questionable design decisions.

I like it, but one huge problem... the cylinder spins the wrong way. Everything from the left loader feature to the safety disengaging from the right and even the fact that it shoots to the left of the sights makes this a right handed blaster... So why in the hell does it fire with the cylinder spinning to the right instead of the left?!!! This means you have to unload or cycle through every shot in your cylinder before you can reload. Lame. I like this just for the fun of priming and I actually use it as a starting pistol when I wake up in the morning, the feel and sound are amazing. But beyond that, probably won't be using in competition (although it should be said that I took a point blank through my T-shirt from this thing and I had I nasty welt for a few hours, took about a week before disappearing completely... so yeah, short range your opponent will definitely feel it).
