Wagner has 25,000 soldiers in Russia but another 25,000 around the world he could fly back into Rostov. Most of Wagner are not criminals but veterans from the Russian military, especially elite troops like air borne and Spetznaz. All we hear is military tactics and strategies but why does nobody ask the obvious question: If Prigozhin gets through (or if he doesn't) what are the POLITICAL consequences; not just short-term military consequences? Where do the democratically-aligned interests of the Russian people come to rest? In the Gulags of the monster Prigozhin? People want to know what happens to the Russian people...not just a scrap between 2 global thugs.

Russia isn't a real democracy, effectively it's an autocracy. This is a military situation, not a civil war. It may LEAD to a civil war, but that will likely drag on for years if that happens. The Russian people, like the ordinary military are passive. All you're looking at is which oligarch is going to take over via coup. Which is how regimes change there.

The "fact" if you can call it that, of Prigozhin's forces moving freely into and around Rostov, supposedly a key logistic and command centre for the Russian armed forces, without getting attacked by those same Russian armed forces suggests that maybe those armed forces are allowing this to happen. Also, Prigozhin's willingness to go to Belarus, if he is to be believed, suggests that Belarus might have decided to go cool on Putin.
From Putin's perspective, in addition to Prigozhin, two groups Putin thought he could control now seem to be outside of his control, namely Belarus and the Russian armed forces.

I wish Prigozhyn would speak to western nations and state that he wants genuine democracy within Russia and that he will withdraw the military, then be backed across the board.

That is my hope to but unfortunately he is very much still pro Russia and wholeheartedly supports the war. He is just upset Putin won’t give him more support…and rightly so.
If he does take over the war will still continue and become much more brutal.
That’s just my educated guess. I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

@t-mac1236 I probably think so too, he doesn't seem to be normalised. It seems he still has the mindset of Russia against everyone, rather than Russia is part of everyone.

Nobody would fully trust him. He is a warlord and a war criminal whose soldiers have filmed themselves doing beheadings & more. The reason russian troops originally disarmed the Wagner unit leaving bakhmut is because Wagner would kidnap the russain troops & hold them ransom for the russian units ammo & artillery. So Wagner kidnapped the russain commander & beat him. When the commander was finally released from wagner, he came out and said all this.

I doubt prigozhyn thought this was gonna work with basically 1 division... I wouldn't be surprised if he had word from other highly ranked people in russia that have finally backed off when the time came and now he is turning around and looking for "favourable" conditions...
