    There are succulents that can not have water on their leaves. Succulents that are under grow lights can be burned by the water left on leaves. Pots without drainage holes aren't meant to be a long term. The pots you have picked are very cute.

      Actually the thing about plants getting burned by drops of water is a myth. If it were true, every plant that got rained on followed by bright sun would be burned. It just doesn’t happen.

    • @hazel3751
      @hazel3751 4 года назад +1

      @DonutCovered Kitty I just got a Kalanchoe Tomentosa myself and from all my research it says that the leaves have a layer to protect them from the sun. that is the fuzz. If they get too much water it won't work as well or get rid of the layer. But I'm not an expert so remember to do some research as well. :)

Used the soak and dry method and one of my cacti almost doubled in size within a few days, a haworthia seedling is now green and healthy. Another good way I found to get the roots to grow longer when potting cuttings or succulents that already have roots is to wet the soil in the pot on the bottom by Dunkin the pot in a bucket of water making sure not to wet the roots or cutting tip that way the roots go searching for the water grow longer and get more vigorous 🙂

      chloe5susan That's stuff is good...I make my own soil.. El Nino in the winter time in So Cal gets pounded with lots rain I really thought I was going to lose lots of succulents but because I had fast draining soil of my own 😁 my succulents actually love that winter rain from El nino... Fast draining soil is key... Same goes for our summer heat anytime the heat at night stays above 78 for consecutive nights in so cal it's really not wise to water since the stomata will not open and plant will sit in water again fast draining soil will help.

      Ricky I stole a leaf from my mom and on a whim put it on a pot of soil and bam I now have a succulent that’s been growing pretty well. I only water it like a shot glass amount like once a week.

      I leave my succulents and cacti outside when temperatures are above freezing. They're only houseplants in the winter. I have a big covered patio, so as the shadow moves, the plants receive partial shade so they don't sunburn. Anyway, I put the plants out in the rain when the soil gets dry, which is usually once a week. And they are doing fantastic. Even the ones I bought at Aldi a few years ago. I think rainwater makes a huge difference. Tap water contains all sorts of chemicals, which I'm sure accumulate in the soil.

      Yes! I bought one of those glass pentagon 'planters' you see everywhere but I was concerned w the lack of drainage holes. Now, maybe...I don't need no stinking holes. Haha. I shouldn't get too cocky... but hey... it was a great video. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Exactly how I water my cacti which I've had for years. Literally soak them in water once the soil is dry..after a few weeks I find. This mimicks the natural habitat of drought periods followed by a downpour. Too many people are thinking cacti should be watered minimally...ie..watering them frequently but with the smallest amount of water...this of course means the soil is constantly damp & roots never dry out & therefore develop root rot. Don't be afraid to thoroughly soak them...and let them totally dry out!...as the vid says ;)
