I can't say that sand fleas on bottom sweepers ever cross my mind as a fire striper bait. Haha. Cool stuff. Just got my livescope in the mail. Gotta get it rigged
Just came under that bridge a couple weeks ago. We went offshore for Tuna and the sharks where terrible. Guess we shoulda stopped and dropped a fiddler crab lol. Nice video as always, ik that current has to be frustrating when kayaking out there
I know that bridge! Years ago we fished out of Pirates Cove fishing offshore. Always remember the day some guy driving a drywall truck was threatening to jump off the bridge. Here was his GF, and on the other hand, his Wife……each of the them demanding he do two different things. It was the best half hour comedy we ever watched. I guess he got caught half way between the two so to speak. Anyway, he didn’t jump, although I’m not sure it would have killed him. Not sure who he went home with that night after the police released him. Oh well, nice video, but that bridge will always remind me of that story and that day. 👍
Great fishing bro🤟🏾💯been a student of your channel since I first started looking into kayak fishing. I’m a up north, Great Lakes yak fishing guy. But our family visits OBX often. One of my bucket list trips would be to get my 2019 Hobie Outback down there to fish some bridges. I have no experience in saltwater yak fishing, so other than the weather and tide changes…could you fill me in on some other safety tips for first time yak anglers in salt water? Not gonna lie😅my biggest fear of freak out is seeing something bigger than my yak swimming under me🤣😅🤷🏾♂️. But I do understand thats what comes with the territory. Just looking for some ease of fears tips from a guy who I know is out there. Appreciate the content brother🤟🏾💯 keep it up!
Great video Jesse! The fishing sucked in Corolla for me, and I’m the pier in Avalon pier all I got was a ray that broke me off after running a good 100 yards of 30 pound powerpro through half the pilings of the pier.
@@ethanmcdowell9677 what do you mean? Looked rebuilt to me, the pier went out im assuming it’s full length because it had railing all the way around. There wasn’t anything “un” rebuilt about it that I could tell. Just some pilings 50 ish feet from the end of the pier way down in the water. Other than that 100% normal
@@ethanmcdowell9677 I know this is late, but I see what you mean now that I look back at pictures I took. You could see the pickings out there and the end railing was new, guess they never rebuilt it just added railing to the end. It’s a shame that happened.
fished that bridge a few weeks ago. Only place i saw over 6 or 7 feet was the boat channel. Caught a bunch of short black drum and sheeps but no keepers
Stripers love crustaceans. Any time I can get crabs, sand fleas, or any type of shellfish I use it. Sadly MD closed the season in the Chesapeake until August 1st. Are you still using your boat? I haven't seen you take it out in a while.
The Pirate's Cove bridge sucks. Too many derelict crab pots under that bridge. Head to the new Basnight bridge over Oregon Inlet, much larger Sheepshead there.
Looked to be fairly productive. Surprised the pier anglers didn't bitch at you being to close by chunking lead your way. I hate to admit it, but I am going to have to start using bait for more of a bite. Great video, bud.
I avoided that are just because of that until the end. Plus there is nothing but snags for them that anyway, trust me I have tried. Live bait is better most of the time for certain species. Mainly summer species it seems
Dude thank you so much for making dope fishing videos that aren’t 29 minutes long and 28 minutes are talking about random stuff
I appreciate that!
Nice work! I utilize a few boat bumpers when I know I'm going to fish around bridges and such.
Love you video's. Makes me homesick for the OBX.
Well, you made lemonade out of the lemons you were dealt, and had a nice time doing so--thanks for sharing it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Right on man! You got it done even with he complications

Good times. It's that big one that got away that you will remember.

That is a crazy story man!
my drive does that. if its the same issue I just push the locking mechanism back and forth and mine locks back in place for the most part
New springs fixed mine right up. Only $1.75 each and $10 shipping 🤣
The creek to the SW of that location was good for me in September a couple years back.
Oh and I just watched your video from 3 years ago with your first Sheepshead catch. You have come a long way!
Nice video. What time of year was that?
Great video brother, keep up the good work!
Stripers and Sheephead feeding together. Enjoyed the video, Jesse!
Thanks!

Avalon shall now be known as "Halfalon" since it was not rebuilt after Dorian. Nags Head Pier is the new Avalon.

Reminds me of fishing at Lesner bridge with all the currents and annoying and tight/low hanging pilings.
Lord yes!
So that's the other side of the bridge from Pond Island as you're headed inland on Hwy 64... yes?
Yes
Ever looking to do some surf/pier fishing in Morehead city/ Beaufort are let me know.
Ok will do!

What pier is that?
I bet the guys on the pier were hating watching you catch all those fish. But those are standard size sheep for that spot.
I avoided fishing that close until the end out of respect... easy for me to move around, not so much the pier guys

It has been parked with a failed trolling motor, but I just got it fixed. Next vid is a sick boat vid
@@SouthernReelsFishing awesome. Glad to hear it.
I'm having the same problem with my yellow Yak.
Those sheepshead are tiny compared to the ones you catch in CCBT and it sucks you lost that big one! 🤙🏽
Any catching is good in my book
That’s true, it’s better than being skunk 😂
I’m sure you mean CBBT LOL
man awsome scenery 👌 just subbed 👌
When sheep heads attack... LOL

Oh I know that area well, have fished it for years... check out my earlier vids
Just left the obx you had much better luck than me 🥺
Stop fishing the ocean front and start fishing around structure dude
What pier is that under the bridge? is that under Washington balm bridge?
Its the high rise bridge that goes to manteo. Not sure of the name of the bridge

@@SouthernReelsFishing Time to stock up on fiddlers! I use a minnow trap for minnows, shrimp, and whatever else wanders in.
Do you ever catch largemouth bass in there
No bud not there. Water is too salty
@@SouthernReelsFishing there is largemouth in the sound tho
Manteo,I know that bridge.
I mostly surf or pier fish the OBX but love that area a lot. The little bridge towards the ocean is one of my favorites.
What part of the country are you fishing in ?
Outer banks. North Carolina.
Love your channel but get you a Native, you won't have issues like that, instant reverse, way better made and a simple heavy duty design
