Came for the drums. Stayed for the playing and the Paiste’s. Very nice
Thanks for watching! Love Paiste!
I had a really similar experience with these drums. I was kinda sick of my DWs, so heavy and kinda cumbersome. I started with the 20" kick configuration of SC's and later got one with the 22". Some of my biggest+best shows and tours were with these drums, no kidding. They record nicely too.
Great playing!
They’re versatile for sure!
love Yamaha stage customs! sounds great and very affordable. nice swingin' btw
Thanks Adam!
LOVE my Yamaha Rock Tour Custom kit....Not made anymore. 8X8,10X10,12X10.13X13,18X16 BD,( converted floor tom.Still sounding great after 35 years.
Hopefully not repeating myself on your post but - I grabbed a full set in oct last year, after using a SCB snare I impulse-bought at GC as my gig workhorse (paired nicely with my RCs). This kit is phenomenal! Even before considering the crazy-low price point. My new working kit for sure. Can't wait to get it out both live and in the studio. Cannot say enough good stuff about this kit (as well as the steel snare from the Stage Custom line, also my new favorite).
Great everything: Playing, recording, sound, kit. 👏
There's a saying in spain that translates to: "it's not in the Bow, it's in the native who shoots the arrow". This means that you would make any drumset sound incredible with your playing!
Thanks for the kind words!
Kit is great, and top quality at an affordable price
Sound as good as a recording custom. ;) I will not say better but scary close ;)
That tuning is out of this world!
I've seen actually almost all the famous drummer who has played on this Yamaha stage custom: Will Kennedy, Eric Harland, Jimmy McBride, Ari Hoenig, Jack Dejohnette, Kendrick Scott, Nate Wood. All my heroes played at least one time on this kit.
Ps: For those who are interested i have all the links ;)

I had the SCB in black many moons ago, loved it and they sounded so open and jazzy in mid to high tuning. Light weight drums. Had a couple of Pearls and Tamas and they are way to heavy built and dead feeling
Love those yamaha's, nice playing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice chops
Great playing!
Sounds damn good ❤
Lovely playing, thank you!
Thanks for listening!
Yooo I was the 10,000th sub. That's kinda wild.
Very melodic playing and feel - drums sound great, just bought one today same color too...
My oak custom is my go to
.. hello from Greece congratulations for your beautiful highly musical playing, can you tell me please the drum heads you are using, I loved your sound and the budget of course,
thank you, have a nice day...
Here you go:
Snare: Remo coated ambassador
Toms: Remo coated ambassador (top/bottom)
Kick: Remo fiberskyn ambassador
Great playing!!!🎉🎉🎉
I just ordered mine today !
I know those drums all too well. Sick snare too
I probably played these the most with you dude! Good times
Sounds Great ! My Dad wants to buy a Stage Custom. And you sold me on them. I play Oak Custom. Tried to get him to buy one. But too much money for him. I think your drums sound great. Any Advice for my Pops ? I also play a 79 recording custom and a 7 pieces Tama starclassic tattoo badge . All japan drums
Glad I could help him come to a decision! I can’t recommend the stage custom enough. Only advice I can give is keep playing!
The Yamaha stage custom sound scary close to the recording custom.
You'll not regret your purchase ;)
Fanflippinstastic!
You (and those drums) sound incredible. Your tuning approach reminds me of Jack DeJohnette and his Sonors. One question however (and this has always flummoxed me somewhat): With the added 10" tom are you still able to position your hi-hat stand comfortably without it getting too far away from the action? I always found it to be a physical compromise when I added another tom to the left, much as I liked the added voice. Thoughts?
Love Jack’s sound! Definitely a hero of mine. I was never too picky about exact placements of the kit. It changes every time I set up. For this set up it was a little further away than usual but not too far. Thanks for watching!
I play Yamaha birch too. Just wondering what brand of drum mics are you using?? Sounds great
Here’s what I used:
Shure SM57 - snare
Sennheiser e604 - toms
Audix D6 - kick
I always found myself coming back to Yamaha. Love the sound and tone
Your playing is like a mix between André Ceccarelli and Jack Dejohnette. ;)
Both amazing drummers! Thanks
@@JH_Drums Totally agree ;)
@@JH_Drums André Ceccarelli (Yamaha drummer) is now plus 74 yo and he is still playing as good as when he was younger haha. Still kicking ass with Sylvain Luc and Richard Bona. Haha
Damn this guy is good looking.
💀
Great playing brother. I love how all Yamaha kits sound …. I think because they dont use reinforcement rings… make them sing tunes up high and low and especially wide open. The way a 18” kick can be manhandled and played like a big drum yet it’s small, small drums sound great low and up high too and especially open as well.
Please re-do the demo with some SLAYER covers!
Lol maybe one day!
Is the sound we are hearing coming from those mics?
Yep!
What heads do you have on there?
Coated Ambassador top and bottom! I think I had a Fiberskyn Ambassador on the kick.
Stage Customs are loud. I did not like the one I owned for a short while.
Weird and rather mundane size configuration of drums, they're almost all about the same diameter, including that little bass drum. Yamaha offers anything individual for add-ons from a 22" bass to 8" tom through 18" toms. Why would anyone pair up all these drums that are very limited in pitch variations?
Stupid ass comment, every drum is its own size and you can't get one Inch difference in sizes. Just you said that drum sizes are too near, what the fuck are you saying, if this is troll or you are fucking moron and stupid
