Yep, I did it. That one song that has to be played at like every convention at least once. Now we have a brony version.
Enjoy. :)

Lyrics:
(v1)
A long, long time ago
The sisters ruled in harmony
With solace all throughout the land
And you could drink your cider there
Without the single need to care
If anypony's looking where you stand
But then one night, the stars were calling
The cries were heard and tears were falling
Shadows in the sunlight
A new face in the moonlight
The prophecy was coming true
And only one could see the clues
But when she tried to spread the news
That's where the magic began
So--
(chorus)
Bye-bye, little librarian
Stop your thinking, quit the reading
Drop your numerous pens
And be alright, I know I'll see you again
Saying "I could never live without friends"
"I could never live without friends"
(v2)
Did you see it all go wrong
As the evening tried to move along
And the strike of lightning flashed?
And did you meet up with Nightmare Moon?
Did you think she'd be back so soon?
Oh, everything was going by so fast
A loud clatter filled the atmosphere
As we saw the lady disappear
The rest were all confused
But that smart one knew what do
She was a pony who had a violet mane
With a straight-A record and a dragon slave
And everypony would know her name
The day the magic began
They were singing--
(repeat chorus)
(v3)
Now, her whole life, she'd been on her own
With a heart made right out of solid stone
But that's how she preferred to be
Then the Princess told her to worry less
About things that she had only read
In a book that contained a mystery
Oh, and as the sun was going down
The Princess sent her into town
Preparing for the feast
Nopony would believe
Because it had been a thousand years
The midnight hour was getting near
The Princess told her not to fear
The day the magic began
She was singing--
(repeat chorus)
(v4)
Hustle-bustle in an aging castle
It all took off in an epic battle
One last blow and flying faaaaaaaaaaaaast
It ended with a powerful blast
The kingdom thrived for a time at last
And the Princess put her sister in the past
Oh, the passing hours were bittersweet
While the soldiers kept a safe retreat
They all forgot the name
Oh, but it'd never be the same
'Cause the elements were turned to boulders
Some folks grew old and hearts grew colder
Who would have thought it'd all be over
The day the magic began?
They'd be singing--
(repeat chorus)
(v5)
Oh, only hours from certain doom
Six little ponies in one room
With no time left to waste at all
So, come on, you know something they don't know
You know about the story below
And secrets are a subtle way to fall
Oh, and as they journeyed through the dark
Their hearts were tried and left with marks
Nothing from Tartarus
Could break their new-found trust
And as the colors flew into the air
To cast away that cursed mare
They found something else that wasn't there
The day the magic began
They were singing--
(repeat chorus)
(v6)
They had a party back in town
With singing and dancing all around
They all saw the Princess then
What they found in that ancient hall
They'd not be forgetting soon at all
But the smart one knew the journey had an end
And after all was said and done
The war was fought, and the battle won
The Princess smiled boldly
And said "Spike, take a note, please"
With a calming voice and a simple tone
She changed the life of the one she'd known
"Welcome to your brand-new home"
The day the magic began
And she was singing--
(repeat chorus)
They were singing--
(repeat chorus)
I can't believe he had to put a disclaimer for the "dragon slave" line because of certain people reading way too much into it.
Even when listening to another American Pie Parody, I still sing The Saga Begins by Weird Al.
Ponifying American Pie is the stuff of legends.
I don’t know why the line “drop your numerous pens” amuses me so much. Especially when she uses a quill for everything.
this song does a good job summing up the first few friendship is magic episodes but I think spike is more a brother to Twilight than a slave.
I’m playing all the cover songs for my mom while we’re in the car and they’re screwing with her mind. She grew up with the originals so she’s trying to sing them. It’s fun to watch. This is the only cover that messes with my mind a bit during the chorus, but I’m so used to these than the originals
Who's here after the new Black Widow movie? Just me okay
Should've been called Pinkie Pie, parody of American Pie, about Pinkie Pie
I won't be here for the premiere, but this is one of my favorite songs of this album to listen to at work, especially alongside Even More Awesome Than Me. Gives me peace of heart and mind.
It never occurred to me until this song but it must have been pretty devastating to Celestia to send Twilight away so she could grow...
The original song has a lot of meaning to it for me personally, as I grew up listening to the local oldies station. This was a song they played every night as they signed off in tribute to the original announcer at the station. Every day at the same time. Happy or sad I listened to it every night before going to bed.
You've done it...
Jus by seeing the thumbnail already makes me feel sad and happy.
Never thought i’d be so happy to see a ponified American Pie :)
I live in the far East and I will have 6:00 AM at the beginning of the premiere, even if I could listen to it in advance, but I want to feel the atmosphere so much that I will not sleep all night, waiting for perhaps one of the best songs of all time that I could hear
Beautiful!
I adore your original songs and covers, but I'm always amazed when you rewrite something I would never have considered.
Well this is a pleasant thing to watch on my birthday
this song had me laughing and tearing up in equal measures, well done!
He's just popping legendary songs that'll be in the community for year and years. That's literally crazy.
