"That'll never happen to me." - Stupid People, Everywhere
Have you ever asked yourself "What if Celestia went to the moon? You know, to see how Luna felt?" Well, this song answers that question.
And now, we present to you another deceivingly happy-sounding song with a depressing message. We're all super proud of this one! Envia Sun, SaxPon3 and TheMusicReborn are all amazing to work with, and I couldn't have done it without them.

Lyrics:
(v1)
I guess I'm up in space
Well, what can you do?
You shouldn't challenge fate
When you're likely to lose
It's been a while
Since I took a vacation
I'll just relax and watch
As they raise the sun
(chorus)
So, this is what it's like
Stepping in sister's hooves
This is how it feels
When you got nothing to lose
And I can't help but think
Of everything I've done wrong
But now that I know, it's a wonder
Why I sent her here for so long
(v2)
It's been a couple weeks
And I'm starting to shake
I can't believe I thought
I was taking a break
No walls to hold me in
But I can't break out
Of all the stars around me
I'm losing count
(repeat chorus)
(v3)
It's been a thousand years
Never felt so alone
I don't know what I learned
I just want to go home
I'm not the princess
Everyone knew before
My sunlight hides away
My shadowed core
(repeat chorus)
Here are my thoughts why I think this is a perfect song for what it is trying to be. (I am not an MLP fan)
This is an alternative fan made scenario where after the 1000 year banishment Luna returns from the Moon and she successfully takes revenge on her sister that did this to her, by banishing her to the Moon. (Eye for an Eye style)
The song is sung by Celestia after she gets banished by Luna. It starts with her being very cocky saying how she needed a vacation anyway and how bad can this punishment really be. After a couple of weeks she is feeling very irritated, questioning herself how she could have thought this was ever going to be fun, having literally nothing to do.
In the last main part of the song it has been 1000 years of being alone with nothing to do. At this point she is completely broken. She doesn't care about who was right, what happened in the past, etc. she just wants to get back home and she is willing to do anything to get back, yet the irony is she is powerless to do anything to change her situation.
The chorus is also amazingly done, for it stays lyrically the same, but if taken in context with the main part that precedes it, it changes in meaning.
The first time Celestia is asking herself "This isn't so bad, I have nothing to lose I can just relax and enjoy having no responsibilities." At the end of this part she questions herself why she kept her sister here for 1000 years instead of making it a shorter period. A rhetorical question with not very much thought put into it at this point in time.
After the second part she is saying "My sister probably felt the same irritation I am currently feeling, why didn't I bring her back sooner, wouldn't it be enough to leave her here for a month?"
After the last part she is full of sadness and regret for what she had done. She knows what her sister did was wrong, but the punishment she received was way too harsh. And in the end Celestia realises that she caused the bigger evil by doing this to her sister and completely understands why this is her current punishment.
I love the singers voice and the instruments they have chosen, but that is a personal preference with the backup vocalists also meshing well with the main singer's voice, almost like they are her echoes/ cries.
The saxophone after the second chorus is a great addition to the song because this is an instrument often used in blues to represent loneliness which makes it perfect for a 1000 year old timeskip of being alone.
The beat is good, making the song feel like it has been going on forever (and making it great for looping).
And the tone of the song is melancholic, without the lyrics it sounds happy with a touch of sadness which makes it work very well with the mental transitions the character goes throughout the song.
I'm so glad you noticed those details! Most of them were intentional, but I didn't know saxophones in general represent loneliness. I should have known that, but I guess I just never thought of it that way.
But yeah, when I really want to hone in on a neat concept that I'm certain other people will be interested in, I tend to go for the fully immersive experience, i.e. - choosing the right vocalist to represent the character, making the instrumental fit with the theme, and making sure the lyrics are 100% relatable but also the catchiest they can possibly be. The vocalist sounds a lot like Celestia, the instruments and mixing sound very spacey, and the lyrics hit the nail right on the head in my opinion.
Thanks so much for your comment. ^^
I am glad you appreciated my comment. And thank you again for the great music.

@@CosmiaNebula It reminds me of it! They are both great songs, IMO.
I love the different feeling "so this is how it feels, when you've got nothing to lose"
At the start she's saying it envying her sister's lack of consequences for failure (having nothing that she could lose by failing)
But at the end she realises the despair of having nothing LEFT to lose, which is the truth of Luna's time too.
Imagine having some things left to lose but nothing to WIN.

Luna on the moon: sad and angry
Celestia on the moon: ROCKING OUT
She did say in 'Who Knows' she deserved a break but I guess this isn't really what she had in mind
How did miss this song holy sh-
this EVERYTHING is beautiful, music, singing, art
ah!
Why I heard your voice while reading this?!
Your Princess Celestia voice pops up in head voice completely randomly whenever I'm reading.
I have no regrets.
Honestly though, Celestia has lived thousands of years, so many years to harvest regret from. Imagine how much pain is inside her when she sang "And I can't help but think
\Of everything I've done wrong"
Ashes by Aviators comes to mind
could not think how many ponys she knew who pass away from old age and sickness. Then have rule land by her self.
I've always thought that, actually, she's a complex character, starting by the moment when she saw Luna after a thousand years. It's an undescribable feeling to sent away the “person” you love the most, wait for years and years (I don't know if she knew that her sister could come back or not, that's my dilemma 😅) and then, finally, hug her again. She's certainly not perfect, but I think she's one of the most interesting characters, that's why she's one of my favourites. 😁💘
when you are a ruler and a immortal, you're bound to make a lot of mistakes.
@@serenafucito she knew, the ponytale about Nightmare Moon prophecised that NM would return. And Celestia, unlike most ponies, knew it wasn't a tale. My dilemma is, is she the one that decided when NM would return or not.
I have so much love for this song
And the Celestia impersonation is just so spot-on
Indeed 💯
*Lonely saxophone noises*
on the surface, this song seems like such a fun and jolly song, but when you actually listen to the words... it hits so hard, and the meaning goes so. very. deep.
I can't stop listening to this on repeat, you guys did great with this one
Ditto!
Same! I love this song!
Saaaaaaame
What in the world how did you know?🤩
I can't help but think "man, this guy writing a cheerful song? Wait its depressing with a happy go lucky tune, yay."
"No walls to hold me in
But I can't break out"
This hits *_hard_*
Celestia dancing on the moon i love that...but at the same time i feel bad for her.
Superlative job on this song everyone the art style, the music, lyrics and vocals are all just phenomenal you've all outdone yourselves!!!
And yet years ago everyone said to shut up about feeling bad for luna and think about how tia felt while Luna was gone
@@sissymorning9809 Well, I think that Celestia did nothing wrong.
When your sister tries to kill you I don't thing that there were many options. And Celestia would never kill her, she did what she had to do no matter how hard it was, that's the diference.
You want Daybreaker?
Because this is how you get Daybreaker!
Oh snap. Everything is about to be set ablaze... 🔥
Personal headcannon: This takes place sometime after "Who knows." And the other princesses had had enough of Celestia sleeping in on her duties, and sent her to the moon as punishment.
Thought the same thing
I like this headcannon.
I offer a alternative explanation. That it happens after 'Who knows' still, however it was less of a 'the other princesses had enough of her BS' and was more a "You think being trapped on the moon for a thousand years is a vacation?! You want me to cover for you so you can sleep in and be lazy to 'make up for lost time'?! Fine, if I am making up for lost time, you get to go to the moon for a thousand years so you can know how it feels."
Aka, a typical tit for tat sibling response.
@@Oatmealism that is a acceptable alternative headcannon
@@501Magnum Lol, I have internally nicknamed this song the 'Be careful what you wish for song, v2' the first being 'I just can't wait to be king' from lion king, he sings it, and his dad dies.
You know, that side of the moon seems a lot less pink than I remember it being.
"I don't know what I learned, I just want to go home" is such an amazing line, it tells that what Luna went through was just an useless torture and completely unfair
Entirely possible. Maybe it was nice to be in peace for a thousand years, but Nightmare Moon could've been beaten, heck, fifty years after being banished and Luna would be just as grateful to be back as she is in the first episode. A thousand years is a loooong time!
I guess Celestia needed time too, since she could beat Nightmare Moon herself but didn't know if Luna would be okay after however long, and eventually decided to let the thousandth year come and for it to be a test for the next ruler(s) of Equestria, but dang, 1000 years is still... A long time.
Celestia knew that Luna wouldn't be trapped in the moon forever, even though that's what she told Equestria, for them to feel safe. And Celestia definitely wanted her sister back! It hurt, every day thinking about what she had to do to Luna, but as I said before, she didn't know if her sister had gotten over everything yet.
An unrelated thing, it's funny how I literally just a had autocorrect correct to Equestrian and Celestial, and all I had to do was remove the first letter 😂
@@eglol You seem to be assuming that Celestia actually intended to banish Luna for a thousand years, which I don't think is at all what happened. When we see the mane six use the Elements, they don't really know what they're going to do, and I assume Celestia was the same. If it was at all under her control, she would've brought Luna back centuries ago.
@@heatherrockwell9012 That's possible too, and honestly, it makes very much sense that Celestia would've brought her back before if she could. But it's all uncertain. Celestia might have thought about really wanting her back, but still not knowing if she would be okay yet, for a while at least. But Celestia definitely wouldn't have wanted to be alone, and bringing Luna back earlier than 1,000 years might have been worlds better for both of them at the time.
Everybody has a different idea of how magic works... and it's important to share our thoughts to get a better understanding of how things could be and other opinions could fix problems and inconsistencies.
@@eglol I don’t think Celestia ever expected Luna would come back okay; she doesn’t, Nightmare Moon does. I can’t really imagine Celestia would’ve been surprised by that.
They are immortal deities. I don't think 1000 years is that long to them. It would be a torture to a mortal. We don't know what did being sealed into the Moon mean. Maybe Luna had fun with Sailor Moon all this time. Maybe she lived in Escaflowne world. Maybe time went 1 minute for her 1 year for us. Let there be mystery smoothing the corners of the storytelling. =)
This song has a nice flow to it that I love. The slow descent into the loneliness that Celestia is feeling, the cheery tune, and the change of emotion meld together into something that tells a sad and somber story while being disguised as something cheerful. Well done to everyone who partook in this, and I always look forward to the next song. Keep up the amazing work!
This sounds like a hidden bonus track from ”the pink side of the moon” 😌
Starts off happy.
Ended with insanity, or just sad.

_It's been a thousand years (ooooh-ooooh) and I'm still hearing this song , someone please help me (oh-oh) I've listened for too long. la la la, la la..._
One of the best lines i fully agree with is when she says "my sunlight hides away my shadowed core."
That one statment says so much truth
1000 years later
Luna: “was quite lonely up there”
Celestia: “can’t imagine, I’m sure you found something to spend your time with
Luna: “you wanna figure it out by yourself?”
Celestia: “hmm? What do you-”
Luna: *sends her up there*
*Not even a minute later*
Celestia: “well I guess I know now”
it makes sense that luna can banish her own sister to the moon, being, well, luna.
Luna ultimately yeeted Celestia.
Envia Sun? That's a name I've not heard in a long time.....

Man . . . This song bops! I love the beat, and the way the singer sings the lyrics! But now that I look at the comments, I really haven't realized how sad this song is (besides the idea of Celestia learning what she really did to Luna by banishing her to the moon for so long). I applaud you for the idea and concept!
Such a unique art style, I love it!
...and ya know this song is like a freaking banger too 👀
