Really would love to know or read more about what Saint Paisios means when he says they will have a bigger salary in the next life. I have a basic understanding of this I think and have heard and read people calling this upkeep in the next life too. Any videos or books that talk about this would be appreciated

He's talking about a well known truth of church that joy of righteous in the Heaven (and on earth too btw as we'r starting to reap spiritual fruits already here) and their spiritual condition will not be the same for everyone (just the same way as condition in hell vary depending on one's wickedness). The more you sow here on earth - the more you reap and being rewarded by God afterwards.

In my humble understanding, a big salary is to live in peace and love in Heaven. In Orthodox Christianity, the core theme is: God loves us, God loves you so much. We were made out of love, not like evil, whose kingdom is of fear and hate. But also we were made to have freewill. And we fell out Eden, from Paradise. There was no sin before. Just love. To come back to that original state, of Love, of God, one must live an holy life. There are two testaments in Christian Faith, the second one, the New Testament starts with the arrival of the Son of God, Jesus, which brought the good news. He left us many teachings but specially two commandments to live life: To love God above all things, and To love your neighbour as oneself. The teachings are always about love and understanding if one reflects on the Bible. Even the sins, the 7 capital sins, which were established by the church are about love, of course one can eat, but don’t eat that much that you are hurting yourself. You would be hurting God also because you are his creation (God has obviously no sex or gender, is above us all, but at the time to show reverence they would refer to Him, as we do now, as my Lord). To not commit adultery, again, hurting your relationship, hurting the other, hurting God that expects the best from us. Sin, means to act against ourselves and God. Of course he doesn’t want that for us, but we must create a relationship with God, through prayer, to understand it. He wants nothing more than the best for us. Heaven is a place full of love, one must come in love.

"Those who were unjustly tortured will have a big salary in the next life"? Why not in this life? God is all-powerful, right? Then, what keeps Him from giving justice to the abused?

This life is nothing compared to the kingdom of God. Unlike all others religion, christianity is based on salvation and repentance. A saint is not a man with 100 wives and 1000 wins in war like a certain Mohamed, but a martyr who surpassed the suffering in this world while keeping his faith in the Lord.

@@gms9397 What do you know about the kingdom of God? Have you been there recently or what?

@@eagleeye182assuming that God exists then His kingdom exists too and the time we live here is really small compared to the infinite time we live after death, so giving a big salary now is not something special since the time we live here is finite. So the real question you should ask is whether He exists or not amd and not why He doesn't help now.
