This is my favorite channel for small houses, I can't afford, built nowhere near where I live.
lol. Yeah. I know.
Haha! Appreciate it
Best comment 🙌🏾 EVER
Prices and where they are located?.
Do you ship to North Florida??
😂
These homes remind me of the classic Quonset Huts typically seen on military installations..They seem to be cut in half and look very utilitarian..I like the fact that they look very low maintenance and affordable..Thanks for sharing Kerry
I thought the same thing. Also, a buried quonset hut is practically a bunker!! I have always loved tiny homes, but if you combine it with something that could possibly be buried on a few sides.you get longer life and extremely less maintenance, heating cooling...and improved forest-fire resistance. I sure hope this style catches on!
If the three buried sides are two long ends and one short....you're left with a "Hobbit Home"!! :D
I had this children's book that had a quonset structure in it. Idk why it's always stuck in my mind, but that's exactly what I thought of when I saw it. Seems like just a half. Maybe it takes 2 but half of one is fine. Maybe there should be 2 facing each other or something. I like the mud room. I lose stuff alot myself.
That’s exactly what it is. This is just the first time they’ve been offered as completed units.
Yeah, this is a modernized Quonset Hut
I'm going to contact these guys and see if they'll deliver to the to the US. I love the way you keep referring to "Maple Ridge" like everyone, of course, should just automatically know where that is.🙂
Haha thats my bad. It’s close to where I live so yes, that’s exactly what I was doing 😆
I live in North Van & I know where Maple Ridge is, so naturally I thought Kerry was speaking just to me.
@@markdarling4487where is it?
So where is it? Do I need to google it? You still haven’t answered the question…..
@@markdarling4487❤
Kerry, please do an in-person video of these homes! I live in CA and I want a manufactured home that can uphold atmospheric river storms, wild fires, and earthquakes…oh, and are made with environmentally and sustainability materials…oh, and have a mud room-A MUDROOM! 🎉
I think I will go check them out
@@KerryTarnow Hurry … LOL
I’m sure these disposable sheds would work for you.
@@carollynt disposable sheds, ??? Not sure I understand what you mean about these homes by saying this.
Take a field trip and go see it!! I'd love a tour. While you're there, talk them into delivering south of the border.
Good idea 🙌🏼
@@KerryTarnow If you go to MapleRidge, please also report on their rounded A-Frame units they have and also please arm wrestle Archie. TYI
@@KerryTarnow Please do visit, and find out if two could be attached to make a full half circle....then buried except for one end/or side. Talk about a bunker home that turns into a "Hobbit Home". !!!!
what state is it in ?!
@@colorbugoriginals4457 It's in Canada near where Kerry lives. They don't deliver them in the US, at least right now.
The Romans proved the efficiency of the arch… In the first century BC, they built the aqueducts, which are still around. The Dwelly Prefabs are smart to emulate classic architecture .
Yes, please tour these homes!
At the 2:27 mark, that magic broom hanging on the refrigerator goes nicely with the quirkiness of this tiny home.
That's from the Granville Island Broom Company ☺️
Turn the mudroom into another lav and I'm all in. Just need a second 1/2 lav for guests.
I was thinking the same thing.
I like the look of the Dwelly and appreciate its resilience. Tell them we want them available in California!
Many of these tiny/ small homes could be available in California.
It's governments both county by county and state that has severely blocked this genre of homes.
This is one of the best I’ve seen with so many options. Again, unlike the glass house windows these windows are judicious and well placed, love the protective features of the home too. Very cool.
Glad you like it!
Love the Mozart reference. Gosh, culture, education and humour. A true Renaissance man❤. Yes please on the road trip!
Haha! Thank you
I guess you could say hearing about these tiny houses is....music to our ears!
Jeepers 😮 are you alright?
So Kerry, I need the directions please 🎉
I can't help but feel as though a home incorporating dynamic symmetry and the golden triangle can't help but have a powerfully positive vibe! I LOVE this!
Now I like every one of these that I see. The bathroom is better in a more centralized location. Even better they are made in Canada.
Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
I love the Fibonacci spiral blueprint…
it’s nature’s way of building…🌀
Glad you like it
Love the curved shape of those houses. So different. Thanks, Kerry!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
As always, my pleasure.@@KerryTarnow
These would be great in rainy areas as the rain would roll right off the roof. I live in Florida and have been thinking about a “tiny home” but it’s so difficult to find a place to put one here. I think they worry about a “tiny home” making it through hurricanes. But this one would be a good choice Imthink, because of the roof line.
I absolutely agree on having a mudroom.
The dwelly prefab makes use of the Golden Mean with that arch! Reminds me of a half of a quonset hut. I reallly like these.
Glad to hear it
Even though I couldn't afford one, even if they shipped to the U.S, I'd like to see what they look like inside, loft and all. in other words, an in-person tour you might be willing to do.
I’ll see if I can line it up
Research quonset hut manufacturers and contractors that work with them in your region. You may be able to get a similar home built for you.
No 420 model? I hope you do visit the site as I would really like to to see the A-frame. Thanks great video. Have fun with your adult toys.
I lived in a similar designed home that was built at the end of WW2 to provide homes for student doctors and their young families after the war. A great solution for temporary housing.
Maple Ridge? Who knew? We used to hang out at Golden Ears Park and Allouette lake when we lived in the valley.
Wow! This design is brilliant! The curved roof could easily be made from shipping containers, and yes, it will shed snow, ice, and rain better than other designs. I imagine that the air flow in the interior, both warm and cool, would also be super efficient.
I think I'm in love. Now I want one.
What state is this in?
@@suecleveland3226 This is in British Columbia, Canada.
These are my favorite modulars you've shown so far. Very liveable spaces throughout all the plans! Bravo❣️ 👏 👏
Glad you like them!
If it is not far from where you live, I think you must make it a mission to visit to see the plan with the bath closest to main bedroom 👍👍
Great designs! I think you should go and check them out in person!
I think so too
I'm with you about the 660 with the mud room. It looks to like the floodplain is very useable and shoud function very well.
Wonderful, just wonderful!😊😊😊 simply amazing
Thanks Richard
KERRY!! Greetings from the shores of Lake Huron!! Great video!! Really appreciate tour ongoing efforts!! I resided in a "bombproof" version of this floorplan , Quonset hut style, that was lined with concrete and was located in the MAJNOON desert in BASRA, Iraq. It kept me safe and sound for 6 years and the heating and cooling was "spot on"!! I think these folks are on to something both pleasing and economical for "off grid" placement!! Greetings from Ontario
brother!! GIDDYUP!!
Wow thats cool! Thanks for sharing
Absolutely love the two bedroom so you've got storage as in closets. And washer and dryer space. And a second exterior door in case of an emergency, as an inside fire...
You had me at mudroom .
Oh yeah! Basically cutting cutting quaonset hut in half and building it out. Very good idea! I'm in.
Nice!
I do not want or need one--but-- I wonder if two could be place flat walls together, for a truly unique house?
Greets and love from Hamburg in Germany. After world war 2 Germanys city where massiv destroyed. Millions lived in such prefabd home called "Nissen-Hütten" in german and in englisch "Nissen-Hut" this name came from Peter Norman Nissen an englisch officer from the world war 1 that created this kind of "homes" that 4-6 soldiers could build up in some hours. We still have some Nissen Huts in Germany or my city hamburg. As a facility manager with carpenter backround 30 years in the buis- and a lover of cabins build traditionell (YT Northmen "the birth of a wooden house") I love tiny homes that can give shelter or a homey feeling. This kind of preFab is cool- the form is perfect because or rain and storm-protection. Also a "must do" is the instalation of shutters. They protect against cold heat bears and reduce the cold pressure into the house.
A mud room could be instaled outside to reduce the cold in winter...
Fire security is also good to have. Only one thing I dont like: Chemical stuff that is in many material. We call this "Wohngesundheit" living health" many stuff has formaldeyd or poison that spread into the house for 30 or more years.
Of course is time a problem then buy such a nice home.
If skills are not there for self build then buy one.
But if money is there hire a German log home builder that sends the log house prefabed in a container and then he comes with his team and build it in 2 weeks.
Many canadians hire German carpenter to build log homes only with groundovens
with 50 cm walls insolatet with wood dust clay and other natural things.
A home must be able to breathe.as more humidity is in the air (lakes forrest rivers)
as more humidity is in a home mold fungi and co will be there.
I would like to see how they build such a "Nissen Hut"
Frank
These are way cool. Thanks for the information on this company.
I like the 660 as well. Couple modifications and presto! A castle with a curve.
Glad you like them!
“Castle with a curve” should be Dwelly’s tagline
This is my favorite company and round style is what I love most. Try and look into Dome homes please, as they’re usually more affordable and spacious. Love that you’re branching out!! I like the 660 also. I live in a 400 sq ft studio so calling that footprint a HOME is laughable.
Absolutely would like to see a walk through of these. Please and thank you.
It’s in the works
I have the urge to get another one to put it together !! 😅
Please see more of this type of prefabhome
Ok!
I agree!!!
Looks like a quarter of my uncles home, from the late 50s. He was a US Marine, and his family consisted of 4. Each child had a bedroom. He bought the decommissioned office, had it towed, and went to work, with my teenaged cousin. They made it a home. I think they called it a kwonsun hut.
The Dwelly is wonderfully weird looking. Every time you flashed the exterior on the screen my brain registered watermelon slice. 🍉
Every floor plan was a good one. The one bedroom with the office space almost hidden at the end seems efficient yet spacious enough. I guess it depends on the office space size. 🧐
Great update as always Kerry. Keep up the great work. 😎
Haven't watched this yet... but im pleased to notice you moved the terrarium back onto the desk properly 🤣🤭
Haha!
Hi Kerry, Love watching your videos!!! The house is based on 1/2 quonset hut. These huts are very popular in the military as they are some of the sturdiest, yet easy structures to put up. the main reason they are not more populari n the residential housing industry is they were used after WWW II to build quick and efficient housing but with poor insulation and foundations they were quickable unlivable. This wouldn't happen today as we have building standards that prevent this (plus foam insulation that adheres well to metal).
I love the idea of a 1/2 quonset instead of a whole one because it allows easier placement of windows on one side and you have the potential to ship a nearly completed home, instead of with full quonsets in which everything would need to be built on site.
The arch reminds me of the geodesic dome concept, which has been shown to be really efficient to heat and cool. This should have similar properties. The shape of the roof should be really good for snow removal, too. The advantage over a dome is that only one wall is curved. The lack of windows on the arched side could lead to less natural light in some rooms, so placement of the home would be crucial.
Great Work and info
I am excited about this ! Huuuuu Ah !!!! 🎉
~Yes to the road trip! I would love to see more detailed info on this line-up. Thanks for sharing.
The curved roof makes the home look so cozy. Love the floor plans too ❤ thanks for sharing
Wow! These are supercool! I like the 660 with the bath at the larger bedroom also… and the curved roof, fire & weather resistant materials, good layout, not a bad price! I’m in!
Glad you like them!
It's half of a Quonset hut!!!! Cool!!!
I love this. It looks like half of a Quonset hut.
Kerry, WHERE is Maple Ridge? Obviously, it's in Canada, but where in Canada? You really should mention the province in the video.
British Columbia. An hour from Vancouver
Haha my bad, not sure why I thought everyone would magically know where it is 😂. What Jason said above
Found it on the map - east of Vancouver, almost directly north of Bellington, WA, USA, but there don’t seem to be any major roads going south to Bellington, probably because the Fraser River goes from east - west just south of Maple Ridge. For those of us in the Western US, it shouldn’t be too difficult to arrange some sort of transportation providing import laws don’t get in the way.
Hi Kerry!! Love these new prefabs with the arches and 300-year guarantee. I too, love the largest one with the mudroom. I would think if you designed it properly, you could fit a half bath and the w/d in there. I would also like to see only a single door on the entrance giving more wall space to living room, perhaps for a corner cabinet with drawers for all of the little things so you know where they are. You do a great job finding new homes for us to look at. Rock On Mozart, we are digging you!!!!
Interested to see if the roof can be earth bermed on the Dwelly 660 and what constitutes a 300 year construction rating .
Artistic design, GOLDEN MEANS. Structure if set the direction on wind. I agree about a Mud Room. coats, boots, shoes. Brought in items with a place to set down, before putting away
thanks for watching
Love ‘em. My favorite is actually the same as yours, not usually the case. 😂 Really like the different look they have.
Nice! Thanks for watching Lisa 😃
@@KerryTarnow love watching, always! At least this one was on the right continent. 🤦🏼♀️😉
You are so smart about reminding me to click like. I love the little smile that tells me you know. Great prefab, this one a little camper looking, but I still like it.
I really like the curved look!
Glad to hear it James!
Of course once again I like the bigger one. See if you can get them to make the carport a continuation of that arch.
Then I just have to figure out how to make a garage door in that shape.
Give me a call when it's ready ! 😏
Great info, great video, thanks Kerry 👍
Haha will do! Thanks for watching Dale 👊🏻
I’m interested in seeing the insides
Love this design!
Glad to hear it!
👍🏻 I like the look and the 660 w/mud room
I think I'm in love with the 440. 💌
I like the design. It almost feels like you're living in half of a hobbit house, LOL.
I would like for you to get a closer look of the dwelling in your video. I enjoy all of your videos and all the new home being built all over. Have a grate day, Kerry.
Thank you! Im planning to see then in May
Since many of these are located in more rural type areas, you'd probably want the 2nd bedroom as your supply/pantry/storage area. Especially with all the preppers these days.
Last two were the best! I love the mud room but my reason is same as yours! Put the bathroom near the real bedroom!
Glad you like it Vanessa 🙌🏼
This is a beautiful take on the Quonset hut home, it would be really nice if they just made the shells of the house with the exterior and windows electrical and plumbing, insulation and drywall. Flooring kitchen cupboards, installing bathrooms is not that hard. As well as interior walls even with a curve , so people could do the interior themselves , I like the one with the bathroom by the master at the front kitchen end of the house, but the second bedroom could easily have its own bathroom instead of a mudroom. Or the mudroom in the first model you showed like in some older Florida homes have an exterior door out of a bathroom into the house, which could be a dual purpose mudroom bathroom. The smaller homes are great and exactly what I want this one’s out of my price range but a second bath even in a two bedroom even if it’s a half bath for guestwould be awesome and why don’t more people use the wet rooms for bathrooms much more space without glass walls and a small tiny house old people don’t need bathtubs we can’t get in them or out of them.
Very nice...and what seems to be relatively reasonably priced...keep us posted on these guys and their production. And what? No mention of 'ginch" anywhere in the entire video? LOL . Cheers.
Hah! Next time 😆
Absolutely adorable! I love this one! The fire resistant part is fantastic!
Seems like this is along the lines of Buckminster Fuller and his geodesic dome home. Fascinating!!! Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching
Love it. This is my dream. Now they need to ship to the US. Please go visit so we can get the full view.
Research quonset hut manufacturers and contractors that work with them in your region. You may be able to get a similar home built for you.
These are SO COOL LOOKING! Also- Look at you with the Mozart reference! Sometimes only have 5 possible places to look for lost items is a blessing. And HOW DARE your adult sports equipment try to shame you?
Haha! I wont let it 😂
Maple Ridge? I’m assuming it’s in Canada and not the US. (Ah, you answered my question, you must be psychic). It would seem that these dwellings are made for all types of severe weather. It would be. Interesting to have more information about their products and if they have plans to cross the border. Thank you for another informative video. Always a pleasure to watch your productions.
Was thinking Canada or Vermont
Yes! Show more! Are you able to take a tour? And to confirm, they do NOT ship to let's say MI?
I’ll see if I can line it up
I'm in love! What a great concept.
I like the one you like as well . I wish they built these homes in the states I would definitely consider buying one. They’re new unique and very practicable homes.
These are awesome to say the least. Especially like the arch design models with only 1 exception. Would be nice to have the option of either the mud room or a second bathroom. Think you should plan a visit too where ever Maple Ridge is.
Thats a good idea 🙌🏼
great looking places love the 660 - guess we will be moving to Canada
We need this in Florida 😊😊😊
Totally
Wow. These are the nicest prefab homes I have seen. I would love to hear more about them. Quality of construction and design philosophy. Kerry is not alone when he wonders what inspired the look of these prefabs. I think that would make for a great video!
I'm going to go check them out in person
Where is the other half of my quonset hut? Interesting design.
Haha
Intriguing!! I also ❤❤❤ the look! And the design clearly very weather resistant! Thanks!
The Dwelly design is awesome. Very strong structurally.
glad you like it
Those were really cool 😎 I like the 4th model too, for me it would be a guest room/ office & storage for out of season stuff.
Glad you like them
I immediately thought they must be energy efficient and more secure. I really like all the designs and the smart use of space.
Thanks again Kerry. This is a very attractive concept. A great getaway or retirement home.
Great plans
Thanks for watching
I I love these houses ,so glad I found your channel. Thank you for sharing so much. It’s appreciated.
thank you! glad you're enjoying the videos!
Great find Kerry. With the explosion of ADU's and relaxing of the codes nationally, this is a wonderful alternative. Only issue is the neighbors who don't like the Quonset hut look, or half a drainage tunnel. Might serve really well as a green roof. I suspect you could bury that backside due to its high structural loading capability.
These look awesome for the PNW, which makes sense, since we are just next door. So many homes here just fall apart after a few years of rain and high humidity, not to mention winds and snow. Nice little homes that seem snug and durable.
Thanks for watching
These are really nice. A small wood burning stove would be a nice option. The 2bd model with the mudroom is currently 198k CAD which is about 146k USD. Not bad for the quality and styling.
Mud room = airlock = more efficient. My favorite floor plan too. I hope you’ll visit.
I'll definitely be doing some research on Dwelly company this weekend 😮. ❤❤❤ All the floorplans, the two bedrooms are my favorite. Perfect for Mom and Me now that Dad's 😢gone. We can downsize comfortably it now seems 👍.
Nice!
These are so 🆒 very innovative. Yes, please a video tour 😁
Its in the works!
love the look of these
This shape is found in nature. The first thing I thought when I saw the first line drawing was nautilus shell. Note the curve can "continue" to incorporate the porch rail & deck.
Structurally, very strong.
Thanks for watching!
Good job describing all this. Plus a half bath would be nice!!
You could set up four of these to face each other and get an instant courtyard. Put a glass roof over it, and you have an all-year-round place to hang out, grow plants and mingle.
Wow! That's really cool.
Glad you like it
Do you think you could tour one? That would be really nice.
It’s already in the works. Likely wont be till May though
Homerun, Kerry! Would be great if they became available just a hop skip to us in WA State. 👍🏼🙏 Love the function of the shape and longevity!
Thanks!
Hey Joe, glad you like it!
