Great, what it shows is with trained crews how good the Tiger 2 actually was.
It just had a very underpowered Maybach engine.
It was certainly a beast, in its own separate category from anything else. But it also had significant problems. It was too heavy and the engine was severely underpowered. Really, the Panther was more than adequate and more than a match for any Allied tank, and it would have been a lot more efficient to focus production on those. But it couldn't have helped the Germans much anyways, they just didn't have the manpower, industry and resources to win the war. The only way for them to win would be if they managed to defeat the Soviets quickly like they did with western Europe.
@@felixerazo9800 actually when the germans surrendered all those jagdtigers to the americans. The american tank crews were shocked how fast and agile those tanks were.
Ik
TBH, Jagdtiger was crap, and a great example that very strong armour coupled with powerful gun can, actually, lead to a very bad fighting vehicle @@Freedombringer1776
Last Tiger,sounds legendary.
you should see the 2ndlast!!
Crazy to think how they felt knowing no chance to win and completely surrounded and still fighting on. Can't imagine how they felt.
Probably felt that they were dead men anyway if they surrendered to the Soviets.
@@sirridesalot6652 I know why they fought. Its more what it must have felt like to be in that position
@@roberts1711 You have to understand against who they fought, they were so desperately scared to be caught alive by soviets that they fought to the last bullet and last man. Germans always fought their way back to their own units for safety or allied units to surrender. They knew that death was better choice than being captured. Indeed own death is not worst fate. You can compare volksturm on western front and eastern front. On western front germans didnt really fight. On eastern front kids and grandfathers fought to cover retreat of civilians. I read book about Festung Elbing and descriptions were rly colorful and this wasnt even the bloodiest of sieges.
I think that even now during current war ukrainians are aware that surrendering to russians is last option. Captives from Mariupol gave colorful descriptions of russian "hospitality"
@MachinimaGothic haha almost wanted to tell that in the in the end they fought to buy time so their families could flee to the west but your explanation is perfect hats off. Its hard to find real info these times people just make things up and talk like einstein

The LAST Tiger to fight in Berlin was NOT a Tiger II.. The real LAST Tiger, to fight, in Berlin, was an early Tiger I #323 of the Müncheberg Division. Tiger 323 was abandoned by its crew near the Brandenburg Gate, on May 2nd, 1945. Tiger 323 was also NOT knocked out by the Russians, but they did take photos standing around, and on it, during the days following its abandonment.

They did indeed escape to the west, unfortunately there isn’t too much about them Post War.
We need a movie called the Last King Tiger starring Russel Crowe and Fassbender
Seriously this should be a movie if it hasn’t already
Closest thing to such a dramatic tale I know of, is the 1989 film "The Beast"(alternately called The beast of war). This film takes place in Afghanistan c. 1982 when a Russian formation of tanks attacks a village, then gets lost and separated from the unit, and tries to make it back to the Russian base at Kandahar on its own. But a group of Afghan muji decides to follow this tank and its crew to destroy them, which they can do because the tank has a shot out radio and is getting more damaged with every encounter with the Afghans.
Best tank film ever, a lot better than "Fury" for that matter.
WTF would russel be doing in it?
The greatest tragedy of the European man is Germany's loss of the war.
A bitter irony that a German land mine destroyed the last Tiger II or King Tiger, and not Soviet tanks or tank destroyers! That was the case of German tank ace Kurt Knispel, the forgotten heroe!
@@davidcolley7714The Germans being on the defensive, would have mined the streets. The Russians advancing, would have little time or reason to bury mines in front of their own troops.
@@dougjustdoug6391 Good explanation 👍
A mine was not able to destroy a Tiger tank, it could only immobilize it. Such a tank was actually easy to repair, if there was anywhere to repair it.

Imo its fair to say, without taking into account the crimes of Nazi Germany, that the German soldiers, their bravery and tactical shrewdness, and the German armaments, technically and with their firepower, were among the best, or moreover the best in the whole World War II.
Soviets were worst.. Yugoslav partisans killed unarmed soldiers and civilians "Croatians" from 500,000 to 870,000 people.. No one speaks about that...
How about the crimes of the Soviets the ally?
What crimes? Trying to warn the world and save Europe from enslavement to central banks and the degeneracy/ “diversity” we’re seeing today?

Happy Thanksgiving day to you all and your family. I as a American who's heritage is from Scotland/Germany & Austria, proud of the heritage but I will say that the German people would not have followed a mad man if they (the Allies) would have won with the grace, wisdom, and knowledge of what they did to the Central Powers after WW1 knowing that they were sentencing the central European nations into starvation and poverty. If they would have won with some grace and humility this destruction of people and continent wouldn't have been a history lesson of death and misery. The leaders knew what they were doing with the Treaty after the war.
Wilson promised to not get America involved, then once he was reelected, he lifted the ban on banks loaning to the British and French. He gave banker JP Morgan a govt guarantee for a loan to Great Britain and France. When Russia fell, Germany was able to shift forces to the west and defeat her enemies, but the US troops were sent to guarantee that loan. Arguably, without the US helping to win the war, there would have been no AH and notsee takeover.
@@fazole sir I couldn't had said it better myself, I will always say follow the money and the raw material/plus food and it goes as you said everything.
Stellar comment.
@fazole you pretty much nailed it.👍
It is very much true, the Diktat was horribly unfair. And it was a Diktat, a Treaty is negotiated by both sides. The Central Powers and Russia were not invited to the discussions. It was a spiteful, dictated reordering of Europe. Just look at what the "Allies" did to Russia, stealing her (and German) territory to create Poland. Nicholas II was a fool to trust them but Britain were manipulating everybody
Germany, despite losing the war had achieved her strategic goals by 1918, by eliminating Russia. This ensured that there was no longer a military threat to her. A peace could easily have been negotiated in 1918. But Britain and France didn't want that, they wanted "unconditional surrender", which to the Germans meant occupation. France wanted revenge for 1870 and Britain wanted the German navy eliminated (every country in Europe who built a sizeable navy since the 1600's was attacked by Britain). Then they blamed Germany for everything with the "Guilt Clause" even though the war started in Serbia with no Germans involved
As for Germany following a madman, I think most German politicians of that era would fit into that category. But I see very little difference between Hitler and Churchill, both were warmongering nutcases at the ends of long lines of warmongering nutcases. Both countries were full of them. Britain didn't gain a world-wide empire by being nice to people, but they are very good at covering their own history while pointing the finger at the "madman" over there. But they are not alone there...
Love stories of the individual soldiers from WWII, especially the eastern front.
FINALLY ! .......... We get to hear a story of how King tigers kicked some butt ...... I read and hear these stories of just how inferior this tank was because of its size and weight ...... alot of people tell me that I'm nuts ...... but if I ever win the lottery ..... I'll have someone build me a king tiger and I mean for real.
A country smaller than Texas nearly took over the world #germanbadassness
There was another Tiger II, well positioned in Tiergarten Park in the city center that held out for quite some time.
German armour and crews were largely superior on most fronts but were ultimately overwhelmed. Check out Michael Wittman.
Or,Otto Carius..He fought on the Eastern Front most of the war. He and his Tiger survived and he returned home to open a small chain of pharmacies near Annweiler..The name of the pharmacies?? Tiger Apotheke,of course!
Just got done watching the progress the SWISS Museum has made on their KIng Tiger !! Always has been my favorite of ALL German Tanks. The Panther was second favorite. OMG!! What a Phenomenal movie this would make!! Call the film THE LAST TIGERS so both 100 and 314 can be the focus. And with both crews surviving they can do it in Flashback style like Saving Pvt Ryan!!! ........."per chance to dream.............."🤔 And they are RESTORING the Swiss King Tiger to FULL working order. They are waiting on a rebuilt engine.. By the time it's ready to roar a Film maker can have the script ready and make this outstanding story into film history!!
Brave men.
Awesome as always👍
The Red Army originally sent their tanks into Berlin but many were destroyed by Hitler’s fanatics who fired Panzerfausts and Panzerschrecks from hidden positions in the first floors of apartment buildings.
So, the Red Army withdrew their tanks and wheeled in 155 mm Artillery which fired their shells into the first floors of those building collapsing them and burying the German soldiers. Efficient and no Soviet tank crews were in danger of being killed, although the Soviets suffered 80,000 casualties in capturing Berlin.

Why are people complaining about this video being to dramatic or whatever, yet you all watch Hollywood World War 2 movies about the Americans, look at Fury example, beyond over dramatic. As soon as channels like this makes a historical documentary with some dramatic sequences people don’t like it and get offended. Pathetic.
Eternal gratitude to the Red Army, for having rid Europe of deadly Nazism, the "Fine Fleur" of German youth commanded by the Nazis was destroyed in November 1941 in front of Moscow, the rest was only a long agony of this a deadly ideology which unfortunately still fascinates, because some humans, through fear of their own death, suffer this fascination, without understanding its mechanisms.
Hey maybe do a little less on the describing side. It's a bit overdone, at a lot of times you're repeating yourself without saying a whole lot. Some things are nice but it's a bit cringey.
Very dramatic, but when a huge army is already in the process of taking your capital you are already screwed. if over 400 king tigers didn't win the war then 12 tanks aren't going to cut it.

The Germans were the best military of all the countries involved in WW2 by far , the outcome will never change that 👏 anyone who knows their history understands this.
How come the Luftwaffe failed to defeat the RAF in the Battle of Britain and how come the Bismarck only lasted just over a week of its first and only mission against the Royal Navy?
Germany fought all of the worlds superpowers at the same time and still lasted 5 years. Even the Allied soldiers that battled against them admired and respected the German fighting man and from 1939 until 1943 they were without equal. Many of their strategies are still practiced today - most notably by the Americans where it has shaped the role of NCOs being encouraged to take the initiative in absence of Officers. The concept of a last stand is cool, yes, but this video is (hopefully unintentionally) plain nazi propaganda. If not for the language used in the video, its a perfect example of wehraboos going to far into "German tanks and uniforms cool, defense cool, power cool, nazi....cool?" That aside, entertaining video - just try not to sound to much like a nazi sympathizer.

The 314 crew’s escape to the west should’ve been mentioned in the video, considering the significance that the entire city had been surrounded by the soviets. This was also covered in a Mark Felton video, however.
Interesting. From what I have seen, by April 1945 only about 20 Tiger 1s and a dozen or so Tiger 2s were still operational (overall, not in Berlin only). Meanwhile, the Soviets were using 220-300 IS-2s in the battle.
Guderian had instructed Tiger crews to avoid confrontation with IS-2s unless they had an at least 2:1 superiority.

Funfact during one battle in 1942 a tiger faced off 22 t34s without any of there shells piercing the armor shows how strong the tigers were
Expecting for a Movie, The Last Tiger
It would show Germans in a positive state and decent... The Media would never allow that as it goes against the propaganda machine
Georg Diers is truly a Man of History in every Meaning of the Word.
In his Book "Tiger in Berlin - Ein Soldat der Waffen SS berichtet" he describs his Role in the Great Mistery about the Fate of Adolf Hitler.
When he was on his way to the Reichskanzlei where he should be honored for his latest Tank Kills he noticed 2 Men try to burn a rolled Carpet with Gas in the Garden of the Reichskanzlei. Because of the incoming Fire from russian Artillery and the following Shockwaves not an easy Task. He than asked he Men what they do and they tell him in the Carpet is the Body of Adolf Hitler and their Order is to burn the Remains to Ash so the Soviets can´t get their Hands on.
Diers quickly realised that the Time runs out, and he rans back to his Tank to get 2 Tellerminen to blow the dead Body of the Reichskanzler und Führer Adolf Hitler to pieces. What he did, according his Words in the Book.
He says, when they moved the Body he noticed an Dark Spot on the Side of the already particily burned Head what looked like a Gunshot Wound. Nearby was a female Body, but it was impossible to blow it up as well because of increasing incoming Fire.
Despite it, no one knows about Georg Diers and what he did.
It really blew my Mind when i read this Book the first Time.
