    Thanks, the shiny section in the middle of the roof interior is to dampen the roof vibrations to keep noise, vibration, and harshness down.

      Yeah that makes sense, kinda like Dynamat. I just figured it would've covered a larger area but that section must be the most vulnerable to NVH.
      Thanks for watching! 👍

    The falling headliner is a known problem with Porsche they use an inferior adhesive with deteriorates over time. This should be covered by Porsche. They knew the glue was inferior used it anyway.

    Nice video! I had to replace my 08 Cayman S headliner in 2013. I was lucky to be to find a new headliner for $100 from a Porsche dealer near Chicago. They were throwing a bunch of these headliners (and door panels, etc.) away after stripping them off from fairly new Caymans to convert them into track cars. This brings back the memory of struggling with removing and reinstalling my headliner.

      Thanks! Yeah I would've easily preferred to just install a new headliner without all the hassle of removing the old one. Although the suede fabric is kinda nice, so there's that.

    Thanks bro! Been putting off replacing my 2007 cayman headliner for over a year (been temporarily using paper clips to keep it from hitting my head). Your instructions were detailed and enabled me to get it done with minimal damage…

    You seem to have had better luck than I did with the removal of the headliner from the car, as that nice stiffener structure on the top of the headliner is like sharks teeth on the super soft paint Porsche used for the interior. I purchased a, heavy duty vinyl, crocodile material without the foam and installed it using an adhesive for installing under hood liners, as I don't want to go there again. I also had to refinish the interior plastic due to the aforementioned and marred areas, as the clips didn't want to pull apart easily. My Cayman S is a 2010 and the liner was fine until a barometric swing caused by Hurricane Michael (Fl.) in 2016. Went out to the garage (AC) and found headliner in full droop, must be the adhesive/foam they used at the factory is all I can figure.

    Thanks for sharing your DIY... I removed the headliner and dropped it off at my local upholstery shop. $300 out the door using the exact same material from Germany.

    • @Kianski
      @Kianski  2 года назад

      Sure thing! Did the shop use vinyl or did you already have Alcantara?

    • @qikqbn77
      @qikqbn77 2 года назад +1

      @@Kianski It was the stock black headliner material. I lucked out and the shop had some left over from a previous Porsche job. No Alcantara.

    Thank you! I'm in the middle of doing mine right now and this has been really helpful.
    Quick question, where did you get the white plastic clip that attaches the rear of the headliner to the roof? Mine broke off.

      My pleasure! I think I just searched online and picked the option that could deliver the fastest. The part number is in the description so you could try your local dealer, but I believe I got mine from here:

      @@Kianski Thanks again. I got it done over the weekend. Mistakes were definitely made hahaha. Got a couple of creases near the edge that I couldn't undo and scratched a bunch of the soft paint inadvertently. This video really helped a lot.

    Does the Kianski store sell nitrile gloves in orange?! I’m good for a box in large. Also can you find a friend with a truck to go to Home Depot with you and buy a proper sheet of plywood for a work table, that roller coaster was killing me.

    • @Kianski
      @Kianski  3 года назад

      The real question is, how much longer can I milk your love & affection for those gloves?
      And yes, that styrofoam sheet was not ideal at all. My folding table was too small so I borrowed that from a neighbor. Say, you have a truck, let's buy some wood, ya?
