- In this video we will be doing work on a pair of Danner boots that have a turn welt. We will replace the heel counter on the inside that is damaged as well as replace the midsole that is usually not done on a turn welt after that adding a Vibram Cristy Sole and a Vibram Sierra Sole over top for our very popular Vibram Double sole option.

In 1987 , I had a pair of Danner Go- Devil Boots . I was in the Army 6 years , those boots were the best equipment an Infantryman could own . Warm , waterproof, durable, great traction , supportive . I could run through mud & snow . Vibram, Thinsulate and Goretex . What more could you ask for .
I appreciate how you show your difficulties and struggles which is the actual reality of the job. Nice video and thank you for sharing.
Insanely labor intensive. People gotta love their boots. Who knew all this was even possible. Making me rethink my shoe game.
A new pair goes for over $400, so kind of worth it to keep 'em around for a while =)
I was issued the desert Acadia Danners when I was in the Army, still have em. Great boots.
I'm not always a big fan of stitch down welts, but Danner makes em work.
Yes, basically rough out version of this final boot here. Very nice!
I've had my Acadia 11B for one day and love them. I walked almost a mile today. I haven't even been able to walk to the mailbox for weeks. Good quality fitting shoes are worth the money.
Great video. I finally own a pair of Danner boots which is what brought me here. I am very impressed by your skills, and you put together a great video as well, thank you.
You, my friend, are a MASTER of your craft! Thank you so much for sharing! I love it! Found your channel, surfing for Danner boots! SUBBED!
Greetings from Salem, Oregon 🇺🇸 🌲🪓🌲🪓
In 2004-05 my buddy was issued this same boot.
The Danner Acadia’s.
I bought my first pair around the same time on Paris Island while visiting him.
I been wearing them ever since.
Never thought of Having them re-soles. That’s really the only thing that ever wears out on mine. The leather upper is still in great condition and broken in to me.
I usually just throw them away and buy a new pair but now you got me rethinking things.
Good job!
Now I just have to find someone here in the NE that has as much experience doing this as you so they are done correctly
You can always ship to us as well if you ever need to
What a pleasure! Thanks so much for a great experience once again. You've gained a customer for life!
Thinking a double sole is my next upgrade 🤙🏻
Great job on those boots. You got yourself a new SUBSCRIBER. I like your channel. Happy Holidays to you.
Such a fantastic job
I enjoy these long videos with explanations through out. No nonsense editing and annoying music
Nicely done! Looks almost identical to my Matterhorn boots from the 90's, and they also had the double sole. Best boots I ever owned! Still have a pair too.
great job on those, a lot of work put into them. nice work
Nicely done Allen! 💯💯💯💯
I would have just sent it to Danner Boot Recrafting for the customer, and viola! Magically restored boots!
Glorious. Thank you for filming your work, very interesting.
I am a cobbler and i know a lot of cobblers and is the first time i see one working seating down
It’s on a stool helps with the long days and I stand up when needed.
Better than new. Nice
The Danners made in Oregon are some of the best boots you can buy. My Acadias are the best Ive ever owned and I only trusted Danner in the Marine Corps. Bates would fall apart in few range movements.
Man, youre very creative. Your work looks great
That shirt color looks good on ya! 💎💜
What is the average cost to resole a pair of Danner boots? I have a pair of Acadia and a pair of Fort Louis 11 1/2 wide. I love this video.
Good craftman work!!
You can also consider those as "cop" boots. They're made not far from where I live and worked. I wore those the Fort Lewis boots the last 24 years of my career as an Oregon Fish and Wildlife Refuge Enforcement Officer. Most comfortable boots I've ever worn. In fact I have 2 brand new pair in my closet (my agency purchased a new pair every year per our contract.)
What size are you? 🤔 lol 🙏
@@ken87saldana 13M. Who is this?
@@larryweaver5667 lol I was just jokingly asking for a pair. I'm nobody, just a fellow danner lover.
@@ken87saldana what size do you wear? I have 1 pair Fort Lewis and the other is an 8" boot, just a shorter Fort Lewis style.
@@ken87saldana this banter between the two of you is so so wholesome and pure humanity.
First time watching one of your videos. Great intro music!
Danner calls it a stitch down construction. Which is what you’re referring to it as a turn welt. Nice vid
I have a fairly beat-up pair of these, probably 20+ years old (don't have the Made in USA flag). Wondering if there's still enough turn welt to resole. It'd probably be a tricky job. Would love to get a new double sole... What a cool idea. Bet those are really comfortable! Thanks for great, interesting vids.
Great video. I really appreciate the extra time taken to explain each and every steps in detail.
Wow. Need that on my danner acadia.
You give that boots a second life :)
I wish I could send you my acadia’s and have this done! Mine are 7 years old and I get new vibram sole every year..I had to move for a different employment opportunity and can’t find a cobbler anywhere!
Well done sir !
These are the Acadia model and i use the and the Recon as well!!!
Nice work!
The midsole looked fine. If you didn’t have to replace the heel counter, would it have been fine to only replace the outsole?
Allen I love your work. Are you the inventor of the double sole wedge lug construction? I want to get some handmade boots like this and want to give you credit when I make them.
Great work-what was the cost of this resole?-thx
Customers must be paying a bit more for two soles? Wondering if my local cobbler will do a double charge for a double sole? Hmm 🤔 nice work 👍
Impressive job! Very creative and well executed work. Any suggestions on what might be good as s resole for my Higgins Mills (allen Edmonds)? No hard core hiking, just all around pavement and walking through fields...
If you are wanting a wedge sole for your AE there may be a few options if you want to email me about them procobblers@gmail.com
Great job
I have a pair of Danners I would love for the same upgrades. No one will touch them around here.
Can you do double sole like that but have a "defined" heel for the bottom sole? My job requires a "defined" heel. Awesome work and videos.
It won’t be as defined as say a 90 digger heel but we can definitely add a cut out under the arch to make the heel curve more
Parabéns, muito bom seu trabalho…👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Awesome video bud. Loved it when ya said no this is not a knife.....hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..... also nice to see my favourite boots r bomb proof.
Do you do any service for the firefighter wildland Danner?
Can the Danner Crag Rat be resoled?? Thanks
How much does that service cost? I have Danner boots, and they need the mid sole replaced.
Oh wow...thats a well constructed boot right there! so what kind of adhesives companies like Danner use? and Alan, why didnt you used a heat gun to soften that glue on the midsole and fiberboard to help you remove them?
Very Impressed. How long did the total rebuild take?
Honestly when recording the videos it takes much longer so I don’t track the time at that point
Do you have to use a Christy sole as a midsole? Doesn’t anyone make an actual midsole out of a similar material? Or a soft rubber?
Can you put a Good Year welt on a Danner boot?
So in your opinion, what is the best brand work boot?
whats the total to all that, add up to?
Could you put those same soles on my USMC Danner RAT boots
So what’s the cost on this type of service?
When shoes/boots’ toe have scratches, minor gouges, have you used sand paper on them?
do the solid vibram soles makes them slippery on wet or smooth hard surfaces
What the style called a danner what model
How in the world is your glue pot so clean???
That was a new pot and slowly getting dirty
Stitch down?
Stitch down construction
please stop using toluine inside without a resporator. i have an older friend who did this for years and now has severe short term memory loss. you can have the same conversation with him mabey 20mn later and he wont remember.
How old was the oldest pair of shoes you’ve repaired. The cobblers on Trenton and Heath repaired a pair of civil war army shoes.
I have a pair of Danner that came separated on the soles during a heat wave in CA, what kind of glue can I use?
Thanks
You do want to clean out the old glue and use contact cement
That model is the “Acadia”
Where are you located?
How much was this repair?
I would love to send my boots in?
Typically because Danner mid soles have to be hand stitched and the double sole option it runs about $250 for the pair
That boy must really like those boots, had to be as much into all that work as a new pair cost.
I paid $380 for my Acadias a year ago. If it costs 300 to rebuild em ima just go to Walmart lol
Would you recommend just buy new boots since the price to repair isn't that much different from retail price?
Repair at Danner resole is $130, a new pair is $380, You decide! I'm retired LE, had mines done (resole) but my pair was about $240 when I got the Arcadia!
With all of the glue, toluene, acetone...... a cobbler must be high all the time.
I think that type of construction is also called “stitch down construction”.
Surprising manufacturers of shoe repair products have yet not invented an adjustable (length, width, height) last.
👍
What’s a job like that cost .?
This all together runs about $395 with the heel counter
@@CobblersPlus that’s about what the Danner site lists as brand new. Guy must love these boots.
@@terranempire2 money spent is money spent. Spend 350 on new boots and have to break them in or spend 350 on a rebuild where the uppers are already broken in and good to go basically right when you get them?
Turnwelt ie stitch down
What leather treatment do you recommend for a hunting goretex boot like that? Cheers
If it’s a finished leather I like saphir renovituar and then pommader polish after
My Arcadia boots have a very soft floppy heel counter to the point where I can not use them .....
I called Danner customer service and emailed them they do not care and that shits me $700 aud boots that are not use able after a very short time .
All that is left is to bitch moan on the internet and buy replacement boots from another company.
We can rebuild the heel counter and give them an upgrade. It does get a little costly to do so but in the end the upgraded heel counter is a huge step up for sure.
@@CobblersPlus approximately how much to rebuild them

Get rid of the intro. Nobody wants to see them. 😂
Its a Shame that you put 2 Vibram soles on one shoe, i guess that why the USA is like a consumerism paradise! They Just spend money like if the World can continue producing materials fotever!
Witout remorse. I like to se this resole videos, but i dont like to see waste trough RUclips.
America wast more food in one day. That could feed the world for a week. Something like that. It’s sickening.
Well the idea is that the softer soles used as the midsoles wear out quickly, so you stick the vibram lugged rubber sole over the top to make it wear much longer, and give better traction. I've had similar boots that I've been wearing for 17 years now with one resole. So your argument is false and not very well thought out. Better to buy a pair and have them resoled, then buy disposable boots that you replace annually. Also if you listen to what he said several times in the video- the softer sole isn't normally replaced during a resole, the vibram rubber sole can be removed and replaced leaving the midsole in place.
@@JohnDoe-df2zz - the question is how many times a year do you ware the boots that are 17 years old? People who work everyday in their boots mostly the boots don’t last more than 2 years.
The only thing that was wasted was a little thread, glue, and some rubber. Putting the two soles on like that is part of the original design and allows the the entire boot to last longer, be resoled more easily next time, and the person KEEPS it rather than tossing it out. I bet you buy cheap crap made in China anyway.
How much does this sort of thing cost?
