I agree. I tried using a METAL, super thin, pry/separator tool and ruptured the battery cover and shorted part of the cell. Luckily, I was going slowly and was able to prevent a catastrophic failure and still able to use it. Use a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to soften the battery adhesive.
I have to open this up, not only to replace the battery - again (I did this exactly this time last year at some little shop, its starting to swell) BUT I noticed a few weeks after I had my battery replaced last Summer, my S-Pen wouldnt write ....ONLY in the center part of the screen. Seems to only work at the top and bottom. First time I used the SPen after that new battery...so the kid - I assume knocked something ajar perhaps, he really did seem to replace this super fast..almost in a rush. I wasnt going to go back to that shop and claim this, too late and I take blame for that. So..hoping that cable I noticed you disconnected at 4:48 is loose? We'll see. By the way, Thank you for your tutorial on replacing the battery, helps so much! I feel confident I can do this on my own now and not shell out 50-60 bucks like last year.

excellent video, if you would next time, go a little slower when you are taking out the screws. I did figure out that putting the speed to .5 works well also but when most people think they should speed things up because it is boring, I think you need to slow it down so we can follow along. the only thing better would have been to actually have the video go in reverse. its taking me a long time to heat up the back, and pull it up with a suction cup. I'm using a heat gun, that has digital temperature control. I've got the temp up to 260, and I'm moving the heat gun around, a lot....but I still haven't gotten the back panel to give way. How did you get yours off?

And in the end, totally destroyed my tape. so now i have to take it in, anyway, because I don't want to find, order, and correctly put on the tape...which is important not to mess up, for water resistance. so i'm electing to take it in. In all of this, I found out that Samsung corporate has repair services that are the same cost, as what i spent on buying the replacement screen, $250. Which i am returning. Good video and very helpful EXCEPT for the part about using a METAL pry-tool on the battery! If you're not careful (very careful) you'll rupture the battery case and likely short circuit part of the cells. Ask me how I know. USE A FEW DROPS OF ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL TO LOOSEN THE BATTERY ADHESIVE!!!! If you damage the battery you may as well get another one while the phone is open otherwise you'll be doing this again. The other part not covered, at least not that I saw, is when putting the back cover on the assembled phone, use your heatgun to reactivate the adhesive. Heat up the phone on a paper towel on a flat surface. Start with the top or bottom half of the phone. When you get it hot, press down with a gloved hand or use a thin cloth to to protect your fingers and hold the back down while the adhesive cools and holds fast. Repeat with the other end.
@@cbergeron97 Uhh, why would AMOLED have an LCD backlight? The entire point of OLED is to get rid of that inefficiency and light only the pixels you see. I think you might have the S-Pen digitizer confused with a backlight because there should not be a backlight.
@@cbergeron97 LCD screens need backlighting. The AMOLED does not. That said, what we call LED screens and TVs are LCD screens with LED backlighting. Previous LCD screens used CCFL backlighting.
I just creaked my screen. A few lines of pixels (or whatever the note 9 has if not pixel) are dead. What can I do? Im bringing it to verizon tomorrow to see too. I contacted Samsung they sent me a shipper to send it free and it cost me $253.00 they test it for all issues. Had no insurance, had phones for yrs never broke a screen. My friend accidently broke it. Just got it back today and reinstalling the apps. It comes back as a new out of box phone.

I finished repairing my phone and it works as it's supposed to! My one issue, why does it get hot really fast? It wasn't doing this before but now it gets extremely hot.
The most important part (reassembly) is in high speed. Can you put a link to reassembly in real time with description? "Reversing" the process sounds easier than it is. Easy to skip a step & have to start over!🙄😨
The only reason to take everything out is if you are replacing the screen with the frame. Otherwise, remove the screen same as the back was removed, disconnect cable going through the frame, replace the screen, connect the cable, and put the back cover back on.
Waste of time as far as just replacing front glass. Never showed that step!! Good tutorial on how to dismantle everything however if replacing front frame assembly at higher cost.
You need special equipment to replace just the glass because the glass is glued to the oled screen. If you try to separate it without the machine you will break your oled screen. So you would buy the digitizer + frame and swap them out.

Doing so, at least with a genuine OLED screen, is equally if not more expensive (stupid I know) because of part scarcity. An actual screen replacement is also riskier and more difficult than this.

Good video but putting back together in 16xs speed didn't help what diff size screws go where how to and what to put first like the vibrator I waited until the end on mine Nope had to unplug everything again unscre everything again just to get vibratory back in as well as the headphone jack that I broke 2nd time taking it apart SHIT
@0GMO3 just google Note 9 screen popping / crackling or something like that, the adhesive is pretty thin and the screen pops when you wipe it. I looked at this vid to see hows the screen is assembled.
as of January 2019, around $200. You can also find deals with the screen bezel assembly, for about $40 to $50 more. Less to take apart. I got the bezel and screen replacement from Gadgetfix.com for about $240. Had all the buttons installed, so I didn't need to dicker with those, thank goodness, because just the first part of this video...heating the back, took more than a half hour.

dont you have to replace the entire adhesive once removed? will it still stay strong as new and be able to keep water out of it?
it will be as strong but it wont be water proof anymore
They have the glue on plastic sheets you just peel off..you can buy amd it makes water proof
