      @@StarfishMaths. Hi, at 5 minutes shouldn’t it read “if f(x-a) is a factor of f(x) , then f(a) = 0. ?
      Am I being picky, I don’t intend to be ? I did A level in 68 and I found pure maths a struggle, and it was harder at Uni.
      I was only ever taught the “old fashioned “ long division method of dividing polynomials. I’m helping my friends son, and he is learning synthetic division, again new to me, and you use the grid method. Any advice ???

    The final question was rather easy. I actually think factoring Quadratics, where "A" is greater than 1 is fun. I think the PQ problem was the most challenging. While solving a two-by-two system is quite easy, you kind of have to know that there is where the problem is taking you. Good job teaching, though.

    Help!
    When the quadratic expression ax² + bx + c is divided by x the remainder is 1. When divided by x-1, the remainder is 2. When it is divided by x-2, the remainder is 5, find a, b and c

    • @Darker3lf
      @Darker3lf Год назад

      x - 1 = 2
      f(x)=f(1)
      2 = a(1)** + b(1) + 1
      2 = 1a + 1b + 1
      1 = a + b
      (Make either a or b the subject)
      b = 1 - a OR a = 1 - b
