looks great, needs a table and more power and ports
I take it this is a diesel, going by dual rear wheels, & I heard that the ONLY MODEL MB, makes with the petrol engine will be the 1500 model, I no longer. Own any MB products as you need an extra mortgage for servicing.especially their diesels, First time seeing this YT, so just subscribed, Cheers, from NJ
Weight reduction vs aerodynamic drag? Looks like a solid van though 👍🏻
How could I order the lightweight alum frame bed as depicted, except I only need one...not a double bunk?
Try nd see if you can source Disco beds. Good luck
These beds are not sold as individual pieces quite yet, and they're still going through our R&D process. We do plan to sell parts and pieces in the near future!
Some cool touches as always... but that roof rail right over the solar panels?
Not sure shading sun on all panels is a good idea.
And the bike tack on top?
1 billion dollars
So many haters these days. If you want a bargain van/project, go look on Craigslist. These are built with best of the best components and craftsmanship. If you can build it better and cheaper than do it and save everyone the redundant soapbox heckle
This is everything a custom van should have
Many well-thought out features. Bunk beds? No hanky-panky in this van!
Seriously, think about custom-sized air beds, like Sleep Comfort. Does not absorb water, very comfortable, lightweight. I sleep on an air bed at home.
Again, love the van, doesn’t need anything like propane or generator? The battery comes with will be good enough for boondocks? Thanks
Absolutely! Our rigs are meant to be enjoyed off-grid for extended amounts of time without additional power sources.
Beautiful design. Consider anti-microbial products further. Microbiologists are 100% against these products. For easy to understand background listen to the podcast This Week In Microbiology by professor Vincent Racaniello on the science web site Microbe World. Unfortunately- these products support antibacterial resistance and should be outlawed. Public lack of awareness makes these popular. Warmest regards Jennie Williams BSN RN
Many clean and well thought out concepts. My criticisms: Not sure bending down to zip the shower door while inside would be easy. The rear bench seat looks to shallow to be comfortable beyond putting on a pair of shoes with the rear cushions in place. Light weight sleeping for 2 togeather might be more popular. Quality looks really good, I would like to see other configurations
Don't bend over if a stranger is near...
If you really want to reduce weight. Take a hard look at "honeycomb" board. It's used in aviation to absolutely reduce weight. Your cabinetry will end up being 25-50% lighter if you do. You can use aluminum honeycomb in areas where you want high strength.
Hey Richard! We are currently in the testing phase with a very similar product. Always innovating! Great idea.
@@OutsideVan Where are you based out of?
What a fantastic layout and design. Especially impressed with the attention to weight reduction. I am an FAA licensed Aircraft Technician and also FAA certified inspector so do understand the importance of weight and the proper distribution of it. Their is tremendous interest on my part in ownership of this product.
Joe Gutierrez I was in Maui with my gf about to board a helicopter tour when a very large family of 3 called “shotgun”. After they weighed everyone they were so disappointed they had to sit in the second row 😀😀😀
Was curious about that battery so I just googled it .... $6,300 per battery.
Only thing missing is a security system on the outside on all 4 sides. Awesome build.
3:21 those are box joints, not dovetail FYI.
does this build also work for the ford transit? or are you guys just building for the sprinters?
Curious why the dualy if the focus was on weight reduction?
I'm guessing the base price is starting at $200K
Joshua Yoon yeah like 5 years ago. They have increased their prices since then. Base starts at 300k just for the van and carpet installation. Nothing else. Price goes up from there. Lol
All of our conversions start at $20k. From there, things are added a la carte. If you'd like specific pricing on this build, I urge you to get in touch with our team at info@outsidevan.com or 800-971-8830. Have a great day!
If you have to ask, ya not their type of customer.
2x360ah of lithium 🙌🏼
Very nice build, I like the 2nd row seating a lot
do a conversion on an old Toyota van, where it's more challenging
Could you tell us how much it ended up weighing? I'm considering building a Sprinter but I want to know roughly how heavy it would be if I focused on weight reduction
A blender ? is this a vegan van ? how does one get on that top bunk ? this concept has failure written all over it
Hi William. Yes, the owner of this van is a vegan so you are correct on that one. The top bunk is actually very easy to access with the bench being used as a step.
Great video and marvelous van!😍
Wonderful build, thanks 4 sharing. I'm sure everyone at home is wondering how much this entire build costs, shortest to longest please $ ?
well, to put it in perspective, I googled the battery packs and those are 6500 each.... so..... yea
You're not reading from que cards are you?
Some great innovations here and interesting to find out if they pass the R &D stage and go to market to actually buy. Most of these ultra cool features seem to not be available to buy but look pretty amazing. Living with it on a daily basis might actually be a pain in the ass but acceptable for weekend warriors...
I like the stretcher/bed idea, the first ambulance I ever rode in had that same set up but not quite as comfortable.
Some neat ideas implemented here although overall, functionally, not something I would want. The beds don't look comfortable. I wonder if one person moves causes the entire thing to move. That would be a non starter. Missing a lot of features I would want, starting with a toilet. I want a suspension like that though. The craftsmanship looks great. Overall aesthetics also really nice.
Excellent work, superb craftsmanship and attention to detail. Big fan of Outside Van's work.
Great van ! The only thing I could suggest is to nix the back rests on the couches. We have those in our van and after one trip have relegated them to a place in the garage where they will reside until the van is sold some day. Not very comfortable and stowing them at bedtime is a hassle . In other words , save your money.
What do you do for comfort? Bare metal???
@@scottslotterbeck3796 pillows , bedding etc...
When will this be available to the US Market ?
nothing next-gen about it... it's the old, previous generation sprinter model
So well presented in detailed weight distribution van.
genius step to plumb air into the shower such a simple oversight by every other builder ive seen..
Nice Van, do you have a paint code for the color?
Amazing van loved it
I always like your innovations. I had light weight as the focus of my 170 build. I used carbon fiber and aluminum throughout with not only the weight centered behind the axles but the weight added as low as possible. The only thing I mounted on the roof were the vents and the solar panels. It was a goal to use no wood anywhere in the van. I was able to build my “plywood” out of sheets of epoxied 5mm sheets of carbon honeycomb. It’s possible to make a very strong cabinet that weighs under one kg.
*between the axles, not behind
@@redtestarossa Hey, I'd love to see your carbon panels. What's your Instagram or best place to see it please? All the best., Dave
Mr. Space Age. How many DIY know how to extrude honeycombed carbon fiber, lol.
Scott Slotterbeck I’m assuming it’s 8020 aluminum bar, and prefab CF cut to slide into the slots of the extrusion.
@@TobyCostaRica Still beyond me. And isn't carbon fiber really expensive? Still, intriguing.
I hope the trees do not hit and damage the cycles parked on the top.
Is this van Pebble Grey? Thanks!
i really dig your utilitarian sleeping solutions. looking to get started in 18 months with a custom sprinter 144 4x4 van. Thus far narrowed the builders to Sportsmobile and OSV
If you're ever in Portland, give us a call and we will set up a tour of our plant for you!
Fabulous!
Finally, a descriptive video. Outstanding design, layout & execution. But, I expect it to be WAY over priced.
Expensive! Not over-priced. Perfect for that pasty-white geeky Google exec and his textile artist girlfriend.
@@scottslotterbeck3796 lol... Those batteries alone are stupid expensive....I mean...really really expensive..
Define overpriced? Im actually really curious what you feel something like this should cost in your opionion
Understanding R &D is costly, this is an upfitted cargo van. Aluminum shower, 2 hanging cots, reupholstered seats, a floor, wall covering, a galley and some cushions on a box as a couch. The electronics will cost more than the build. Those batteries are probably the most expensive thing in the van. As for a price..... as shown should have a MSRP of $179k. But actually sell for less. Comparing to other similar builds (Winnebago) can be bought for $80k on a dodge chassis.
Which company? I'd be curious to see what your comparison is.
Fantastic build!
Where is the sliding screen door from?
Somewhat nice build. You have done better builds before. Way to pricy for what you get.
AR9fy lets see it
😆💪💪💪👍👍👍✋✋✋😆
Excellent.
I love that van
Wow that's a sweet looking van. 👍
this is an adventure trip van, not a long term live van. the bunk beds are no good. they are not comfortable.
and what are you sleep in a sleeping bed on a bunk bed in winter even with the heater?
interior layout is good, and features are good as well.
van is no good. i would not get a mercedes. do you know how expensive the maintenance on mercedes diesels are? use a ford transit van.
Wow!!
Baller
Very nice van! Whats the brand and type of the airconditioning?
Following
The brand is called ProAir, it's a 12V. Unfortunately it's not available on the market quite yet!
Outside Van Coleman makes one , & there others 12v, cheers from NzJ
