This is brilliant. I should have searched youtube before spending money purchasing an expensive dashcam I never used. I am an Engineer but I hate those annoying cables.

I have been using this product as a dash cam mount for my old iPhone it’s pretty awesome I ordered two extra ones just to have I always catch all kinds of random things on video.

I'm done with dashcams they all go bad and without warning which sucks, if you get in an accident and think you have recorded evidence :-(
I use an "retired" phone. And I have made a free Google Account just for this phone.
It means that every time I park my car near my house, the phone will automaticly connect to My wifi, and the recorded video is saved in google photos.
How did you do that?
Very good idea. I’ll do the same when I have spare phone. So basically download google photos and give access to Photos on iPhone. Sync it in such a way that new videos are uploaded to Google Photos when connected to WiFi. When car is parked at home it will be within your WiFi range and start uploading. Once upload is complete you can either set it to delete that video from phone or keep it. Set the video resolution to 1080p for unlimited uploads.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that I would like to use as a dashcam in my car.
To avoid having to run a charging cable, I have attached a power bank to the back of the phone using velcro.
The total weight of both comes to about 600 grams.
Dimensions of the power bank is as follows: Length = 13 cm. Width = 7 cm. Thickness = 3 cm.
The mount will have to grab onto the power bank.
Will this mount hold such a combination.
If not, do you have something that will do the job.

Might want to place it out of your field of vision. As shown in the video, the placement puts the phone in your way and could cause you to have an accident.

yes best app using for awhile now, it records speed time and location much clearer than those ridiculous dashcam that fails after one month. only thing the phone gets hot in summertime and shuts off after awhile if left on guard when away from your car. but i work around that 2 thumps up for this app

I have an Asus Zenfone 6 that I never use. I have 1tb storage, and the camera is great. Has really sweet specs too. I think I may give this a go. I hate seeing this phone go to waste by only serving as a dust collector.
Why do you need to use an App when all you need to do is press Record on your phone?
What is as important or moreso than recording the video is having the recording live uploaded to the cloud. How do you do that?

Sell it after seeing ur video! That immediate viewing is what I needed and this bs dash cam has a f... Process and that annoying lady speaking each time u start the engine. How I did not think about this is beyond me. Good work eventhough u reminded me my $500 wound!!

Why even bother with an app? Just hit record...
the only problem is u can use this for short commutes but if you are travelling more than an hour the phone heats up and also gets clogged with full memory.1920 is recommended format

Jose J. Eduardo Samsung phones have a feature in which you can you 2 apps simultaneously on a split screen basis. Gps takes the upper half of the screen, and the dash cam takes the lower half.

Capable but not really advisable for your smart phone especially in sunny day, too much exposure in sun light could damage your phone cameraa and some parts of it, heat exposure may cause overheating, battery damages and shorten its life, it may leak, explode or cause accidents. So better to put the right device and avoid hassle or sorry for your smart phone.

Yes, providing you can get the app onto your phone, it's managed locally so should work fine
If you have 2 old phones sitting somewhere in the house collecting dust, you can use them as dash camera. Of course you have to remember to remove the camera or hide it in a place.
Well these mobile dash camp apps is truily handay a specialy in an car accident and for insurance purpose really helps

a good app lets you have record of speed - handy if pulled over for speeding and you weren't
You can but you will end up with loooong video and what you want it many short clips, so you don't have to scroll and cut the lengthy video to find the event you're looking for. Plus you need an app to erase old videos otherwise your fill up your memory pretty fast.

The thing is that some phone holders are moving while driving and that's annoying
The only and biggest drawback is if you have those video apps recording or recording in general you can no longer do anything else on the phone, ie no bluetooth music, etc.

Ur camera video only record for 10 mints max that is why u need 3r party app to go longer to 1h to 2h ✌
I think the app you download records with GPS location, time stamp and speed
And probably light. Without another app, my phone shows nothing but headlights cause of lights. Im downloading this.

Only problem is that this will drain the battery empty incredibly quickly.
Lowest brightness, connected to car USB to charge. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

Its not the same as having dedicated hardware thay you can just fit and forget. You have to manually switch it on every time

curreenttly looking at dash cams and reading reddit dashcams hearing problems in amazon reviews about faulty cams sdcard problems etc , f all that , old cell phone an done
will be going this way after giving up on the useless apps for top brand dash cams.I had a thinkware f800 and it was fine initillaly but the app now does not work,read reviews on dash cam apps before spending good money..
