  • Carlos Rio designed the first disc golf course in Spain, Parque De Invierno, in 2012 in the city of Oviedo, Spain. He continued course development in Spain and is currently an Innova Ambassador for the region. In July 2023, the disc golf club in Oviedo hosted the Oviedo Open at the Parque Purificacion Tomas (Puri) 18-hole course. Sam Ferrans and Jeff Panis visited Carlos and the hosts of the event to discover the beauty and growing popularity of disc golf in Spain. Special Guest "Big Jerm" Jeremy Koling competed in the event and was a welcome ambassador to everyone in attendance.

Perfect video for me to watch this morning. Day after tomorrow I will have my 49th annual 13th Birthday celebration starting on my skateboard at the s8park and then the Disc Golf Course. Nice to see at age 62 that I am not the only one still ridding & Flying Frisbies/Discs after all these BLESSED YEARS. Thanks!!!

Carlos Rio is a legend, not only in Spain, but also in Norway. There's a hole on my local course, Ekeberg, which is named after him. Disc golf wouldn't exist in Spain if it wasn't for Carlos. He have had a huge impact in Norway as well. A super strong individual
