UPDATE: Recent patches have changed MU behavior so some of this video may now be out of date I did some more testing - Locomotives can go anywhere in the consist and be MU'd - Direction doesn't matter. It will figure it out based on lead locomotive
Ok, that was going to be my next question - aside from double heading, can you bank or have the train set up to split, with a locomotive at the front of each split section - thanks, for the preemptive reply. (I guess that means I could stage a banker at Bryson to assist the heavy freight!!)
for people who are having issues somewhat the mu at least for me has to be engines right behind another if your pulling cars from lets say interchange if your pulling cars you bought or if your just starting the beginning coach caboose and hopper you can place an engine at the rear and it will work but if your pulling cars from interchange it wont work
Looking pretty good. I'm getting the feeling this is going to be like Derail Valley in that it's "gamified" in some places (see: being able to MU steam locos with one person), and in this case focuses more on railroad ops than the actual driving...Which is fine with me, I love complicated locos but I gotta say tending a firebox isn't the most fun thing in a game!
Thank you for making this video. I was SURE i could figure this out on my own, surely it couldn't be that hard, right? Well, let's just say i would have saved a lot of time if i just watched your video instead 😆
Thanks for the info! Do you know if this works the same way if you're using a pusher on the rear instead of all the engines being coupled together on the front?
Do you have to have both locomotives back to back for the MU to work, or can the second loco be in the middle of back of the train and MU will still work?
@@KerboOnYT I wonder how back in the day irl they communicated between the front of the train and the rear of the train if it was so long. Some form of lantern signals or gramophone type set up before moving into radio communications?
@@KerboOnYT thanks. sorry for another question. in this video when you apply train brake 0:40 train and railcar brakes are applied. when i hook up couple and gladhand hose, open handcock. i still have no railcar brakes [ when train brake applied ] what could i be doing wrong? thank you again :)
@@mrwilson4909 Make sure you have air in the train pipe. All angle cocks should be open except on each end of the train. The train UI by the locomotive controls will show you what's going on with brake pipe pressure and angle cocks. Also be sure you're applying train brake and not the independent brake
Could’ve used this video 2 days ago. Had 36 cars behind a 4-6-0. Weighed 1390 tons. I got her moving and made it from Whittier to Dillsboro before the tender ran dry of water. LOL! Now I know what to do. Thanks!

@@neilharbott8394 I'm not sure what you're asking, unless you missed the first bullet point "Locomotives can go anywhere in the consist and be MU'd"
@@KerboOnYT I was having issues banking a train (locomotive front and rear), But as you say first bullet answered the question, before I asked!!
@@neilharbott8394 Oh, gotcha. Glad I could help!
I found mu only works with back to back locomotives

thank you so much! the solution was staring right at my face and I didnt notice lol
You're quite welcome
Now knowing this the Ten and Pacific are going to be a dangerous setup
That's nice and simple, I did wonder if you'd have to select the MU button on both locos or just the trailing one, so that's a massive help, thanks.
this looks like it is a really cool train game
Nice, thanks for the explanation.

I haven't tested that, but I think if it's coupled, it works the same
Bless! @@KerboOnYT
How do u get graphics like that I love it
I run pretty much default settings. System specs are on the About section of the channel.

Mine doesn't seem to work from the middle when I have MU turned on... also, does MU need to be turned on at the lead and slave locomotives?
See pinned comment. I haven't tested MU since they "broke" it
Does this apply to diesel locomotives as well?
Yes, but see the pinned comment. MU is currently in a different state
Can you set up at front and Rear MU?
Yes, anywhere coupled in the train is fine and direction doesn't matter

do you double Tractive Effort power?
The locomotives work together when in MU mode

Early access comes out on the 15th? Am I remembering correctly
They pushed it up to the 7th, check steam
It got changed to the 7th, 2pm EST
Does this work if one of the locomotives is backwards?
I haven't tried that
I did some testing today and direction doesn't matter. It's smart enough to figure it out
