UBOAT is a new Submarine Simulator that just dived into early access. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
I would SO appreciate a full TDC HowTo for all Uboot types. The more detail, with examples, the better.
Def it would be really good
Yes please!
Yesss 1000%
I'd really appreciate a TDC tutorial
Yes please.
Historically, U-4 managed to sink a British submarine during the Norwegian campaign. Hope you get the opportunity to duplicate that!
There's no hostile subs in this game.
@@zyhgar25I mean you could MOD it.
@@Kilo3Cav19KIt would’ve been nice if DWS had added more ships to the game, especially German ships. I know it’d just be eye candy, but it’d be cool to pull into Wilhelmshaven and see ships like the Scharnhorst sitting in the bay
@@nikolai522 there is a mod that does that, adds basically every german ship.
@@magnum6763 I know. But because of the beta breaking pretty much every mod (or the vast majority of them) and DWS just now barely adding mod tools for the beta release, it’s going to be a while before those mods can come back
Heh, the main reason the Germans "figured out" their torpedo issues after the Norway invasion was they captured the British minelayer submarine HMS Seal in the Kattegat. The Germans found that the British torpedo detonators worked much more reliably than their own, so they copied them!
and then the americans copied the germans. pretty round about way of adopting ally technology
@fredjones5698 and leave it to the US government to break what was already working (the Mark 14)
I assume you mean the Mine detonators?
@@phillipg9345 Except the only thing they copied is the prupolsion system
@@phillipg9345us government will spend more then germany ever will to vomplete a project germany never could, observe the m1 abrams.v
yes please, I would like a full tutorial about the TDC.
Don't forget: you can inspect enemy ships now, not just neutral ones. This could possibly save you some torps
and just use demolition charges then yeah
Yes but as i discovered it doesn't count as sunk ship in the tonnage for some reason
@@romaniachin6751 it's a bug they have to fix it
@@romaniachin6751 @MAXJULOU Its a known bug, the patch notes from yesterday say that they fixed it now
@@MAXJULOUIdk if my other reply tagged you properly, but they said they fixed it yesterday
I'd love a TDC tutorial
Yeah I became addicted again but all my crews end up at the bottom lol
Haha all of mine will end up there too
@@TheDevildogGamer don't worry. There's more crew and more boats awaiting! Ja, herr kaleun!!
Of course we want a tutorial on the TDC!
I'm finding that maxing out sailor assignments to your engineering officers when they are tending to the engines is absolutely mandatory with the Type II. The range boost is nice on the Type VII, but on the II it's often the difference between having enough fuel to complete a patrol or not.
The other great thing about the Type II: no bulkheads. If you get a bad leak, the whole ship just floods and sinks. Fun! ;)
Also, you can't set the active bearing transmitter to the UZO because the Type IIA doesn't have an UZO. Deck watch just gets regular binoculars.
Ahaa, thanks for giving this context. I didn't know adding sailors also add to that.
Yeah, adding sailors to officers usually improves what they are doing. You can mouse over their task icon to see what the bonuses are. Assigning sailors to the officers on watch increases view range, assigning a sailor to the officer on the hydrophone increases listening range, etc.
Also the nav map assignment, also improves efficiency.
As soon as in international waters, "Take that Flag down."
1st Officer smiles, "We're not at war yet, Sir."
"Noted, No.1. Take it down, regardless." I luv coastal subs!
Ve do not question orders here No 1. You are now number 2.
The reason you can't set the TDC to follow the UZO in the Type IIa, is because the IIa doesn't HAVE an UZO. Any deck observations are done purely by binocs and periscope.
That's one of the things added by the upgrade. The other variant of the Type II includes an UZO.
Man, if Type II u-boats are in, it would be awesome to see a black sea campaign as well
Glad to see you’re back on U-boat It’s been ages since I’ve seen you played this game.
Because these series are realistic (one-life iron man), I would recommend leaving "dead space" after the sub is sunk. Otherwise the brain can metagame with the time remaining in the video to break the tension.
I very much second this!!
Yeah definitely
Pretty sure this'd have a negative impact on the video's place within the algorithm which could end up affecting Wolfpacks channel negatively, probably best to just not look at the video length.
Or maybe do a series recap to fill the time, or start a new campaign!
@@dammitdan1662 A "Next time on Wolfpack 345" segment at the end for a couple minutes showing him setting up and talking about the next campaign would be really neat.
Really excited for the series! Just a tip is that you can finish off enemy corvettes with the 20mm deck/aa gun if they don’t sink after a torpedo hit. You can also hail merchant ships before attacking to potentially get the enemy crew to evacuate without having to attack, saving you valuable torpedoes for convoys.
Safe sailing and fair seas Wolfpack o7!
He's played since release??
HAUL DOWN THE BLOODY ENSIGN AT SEA! U-boats only flew colours alongside and when entering/leaving harbour, or as a recognition symbol when stopping a merchant or upon encountering friendly warships.
A few updates ago, there was a welcome ceremony with a band at the harbour entrance. This is something I also knew about Aces of the Deep, wrote in a review on Steam, and the developer then implemented it in the same way.
Yep, any tutorials are always to be welcomed. As well as picking up supplies from the wreckage, you can also take the enemy ship's officers as POWs. Most of the feedback I've heard from other players of this new Beta is favourable. There's a lot more realism now.
Historically, U-boats took aboard enemy Captains and Chief Engineers in the early war period. But the Type II did not as there was no room in the small coastal boats for prisoners.
Wolfpack is entirely responsible for my interest in submarine games.
And naval warfare in general
Same here
Full TDC HowTo for all Uboot types. Thumbs up!
if you didn't know there is also 2 types of depth scans one is shallow which is less accurate and cant be heard by enemies and a deep scan which can possibly be head by enemies but it is accurate at all depths.
Does this mean we can expect a new Uboat campaign In the near future. I’ve been rewatching all the silent hunter 3 campaigns and I’m itching for a new one. They’re so professional and well put together. I watch them like it’s a TV show. Easily my favorite channel on RUclips!
Would love a TDC tutorial! I have a decent idea, but anytime i watch your videos I always learn something new
TDC tutorial would be great.
it would be amazing if the developers add the type XXI U-boats!
The IX and XXI are planned as post-release DLCs!
The XIII are much more fun, being pure coastal boats like the type II …
Also, did you know that 6 type II served in the Black Sea?
Two Type XXIII Boats served for the West German Navy after the war. One did sunk by accident. It Was the only loss of a U-Boat of Western Germany. In fact also one Type XXI Boat served as a technical test Boat for the West German Navy. It's now Museum Boat in Wilhelmshaven.
IX and XXI are confirmed.
the IXA is a must have
I’ve missed the uboat series on this channel one of my favorite games you play
Awaiting the official release to update my game and getting back at it.
A TDC tutorial is hugely appreciated.
@Wolfpack345 Using the electric engine interchangeably with the diesel engine is crucial for the Type IIA (I do diesel engine on slow speed and electric engine on half speed)
A Uboat TDC tutorial would be great!
7:41 The water is beautiful.
uploaded just as I was watching war on the sea video
Oh man, I'm ecstatic they fixed the animations on the dive planesmen. Drove me nuts watching them try to spin the grab rails instead of using the paddle controls. But I'm sure they were being reminded about that incessantly, lol.
It's been over a year since I jumped into Uboat, so ANY and all tutorials are VERY appreciated!!!
Hm, looks pretty good the TDC... but i maybe noticed some Translation Errors... "Reichentfernung" makes no Sense, also "Legenwinkel".
Guess those should mean "Richtentfernung" and "Lagenwinkel" - that would make sense. Also "Shuß" should be "Schuss" or "Schuß"
But i guess this have been already forwarded to the Devs...
U-1 and U-4 were probably constructed around or at the same time, so this is really one of the first Underseaboats the Kriegsmarine sent into the depths.
Need a tutorial on that TDC for sure.
was wondering when you would make a video on the new update!
That greasegun is an oilcan. And it used t be an actual thing on some older engines that you had to oil some moving parts like valve rocker assemblies once in a while
The music already is a classic for me
Glad you finally found the time to check the patch out. I was unhappy with the game before the prerelease patch. Ships still change speed a bit too fast for my liking but in my opinion we finally have a successor to the good (modded) silent hunter games and i dont see myself going back to them. The developers did a very good job
Did you guys notice, how incredibly accurate the water movement is? I'm a sailor and now open water, this looks amazing for a game. Crazy that games are able to portrait water that good these days. Probably the most difficult part in game graphics.
Oh and if you like slow and underdog boats, play the 1968 campaign in Epic Mod. As far as I know, you played it in the vanilla game. It is utterly rediculous...even if you manage to trap a russian torpedo in 200m, which has better homing than modern day air to air missiles of the US, they often all of a sudden find you in 30m and 10km distance and kill you nontheless since russian torpedos generally don't really care about noise makers in Epic Mod. As with all russian games, the bias is absurd.
Fellow sailor here and my 1st thought was i wouldnt wanna be on it in that sea state😆 water movement and consistency with how the boat was reacting with it shocked me a lot, the physics of the water on the bow and stern were realistic considering the sea state, size and speed, props to the devs
The AA can still be used to sink ships. Single ships I normally just get close, signal I’m gonna sink them, let the crew abandon ship then scuttle it with my engi or just AA it along the waterline.
I too would like to add my vote to a detailed tutorial on how to use the TDC. Love your videos, they're incredibly well produced and extremely dramatic. Keep up the splendid work!
damn! my favourite SH3 u boat! the starter! the canoe!
I remember being so annoyed that my Type IIA got assigned to a patrol area near Scapa Flow, and didn't enough fuel to reach that area and return!
@@timonsolus lmao same, honestly thats why i activated infinite fuel while operating IIAs
I wish the developer would make a B-17 game in the style of Uboat.
Microprose
This game have come so far since you started to make videos about it (and when i purchased it) you can see this is real passion project for the devs and not only quick early access moneygrab that are way too common nowadays. I love the new changes.
Type II no deckgun....
With the operational range of this boat you are supposed to guide in longrange fire from coastal artillery to substitute the deckgun!
Happy to see the Uboat content is back. Really missed the Uboat content and yes would love to see a TDC tutorial.
seeing all the crew moving about the boat, espically after surfacing is fantastic to have been simulated...i hope the damage model is decent too....keep up this Uboat devs at this rate i'll finally be taking the game of my wish list and into my library.
The type 2 may be slow, and short ranged, but I aways kind of liked it back in SH3. That small size makes you super stealthy. I could sneak into harbours, do surfaced torpedo attacks at night, and NOTHING would detect me! Of course it also helped it was early war and the AI wasn't fighting with a full deck either. Also because of how Sh3 handled crew training a short range boat that sails lots of short patrolls was the best way to skill up a green crew.
You can sink cargo, tankers, and even corvettes with the u-4’s small cannon. Just use AP and apply generously to the target.
I LOVED your silent hunter 3 med career series, I would love a TDC how to and would love to see a Uboat series!
the interior scale looks wrong. The crew seems like 100-120cm tall kids. Type2A's pressure hull is ~4m in diameter. Also compare the crew size with the flak gun
What a beautiful precious puppy....I have 1 that looks just like her..beautiful please take good care of her/him.
I’m hearing new voice lines and music, love it along with everything else, and the new system for showing ships on the map makes much more sense then pinpoint accuracy, you kinda of have to use the hydrophone yourself to guesstimate it.
Welp last time Wolfpack got me into war on the sea and now I'm 100% buying this game rn
love your vids on games like these ❤
11:50 you can actually use your eyes too see the seafloor. You scanned the fish and it tricked your Men.
Yes the series is back let us see if the crew of U-4 can survive and a question why does the torpedoes
Needs be heated?
To make sure they actually explode and not become a dud
Historicly I am not sure. I know regular maintenance was needed to keep them reliable. But at least game mechanics wise, it will reduce the dud chance of the torpedo.
In the game, you're preheating both steam and electric torpedoes to minimize the risk of faults like incorrect depth-keeping or detonators not working. Realistically you would have very little impact on that, as it's primarily caused by faulty detonator designs straight from the factory and torpedoes leaking their vacuum over long-term storage aboard submarines.
Historically, only electric torpedoes were preheated, because their batteries had to be around 30 - 40 C in order to ensure they would travel at their max speed out to their max distance.
In game torpedos need to be heated to reduce the chance of a dud. In reality, preheating was only necessary for the electric G7e and G7es torpedos. The batteries of those torpedos had to be recharged periodically and the engine had to be preheated to 30°C to get maximum range. G7e had a range of 5.000m (cold only 3.000m) and G7es had a range of 5.700m (cold only 5.000m).
At least that's what i could find on German Wikipedia. Couldn't find any German documents.
historically preheating electric torpedoes could extend their range by 60% (source: U-Boat War Patrol: The Hidden Photographic Diary of U-564, Chapter 2)
Man UBOAT shure has went a very long way. I really like the path it's going!
Thank you WP! Another series that I follow with interest! Love this content, even if U4 is basically a canvass covered canoe! Can't wait to see the mischief you'll cause!🍻
any tutorial you do is more than worthwhile to watch from my pov....and yes a full tdc would be greatly appreciated.
A tutorial would be awesome. It could also be cool to do a series where you explain everything you do, kind of teaching how to set up attacks and such
Type II were intended for costal waters. These would have been good for the shallow shore waters of the Mediterranean.
USN subs had the best TDC of the era.
There's still work to be done on the game's physics. The boat simply slips leveled below the waves. No trim (fore & astern) when diving or surfacing. Crash dive is still much slower then IRL.
Personally, I prefer world view from the interior. We probably won't get any WWII subsim akin to SH3 in any near future... if at all.
I've always meant to go look to see if you had done any guides on the TDC. There's just some points I can't seem to logic out while watching the videos. Would love to see one!
YES!!!!!! It's so cool to watch you playing U-boat I actually bought the game because of your vids! Hope you keep playing it!
The new TDC interface is SO COOL! I was always afraid of getting the tdc mod because I would have no idea what I'm doing. Now that it's in vanilla, I would love an in depth tutorial of the TDC.
20:18 This is the only thing I can see that they could add that would boost immersion, instead of standing perfectly while watching the electric motors they could be leaning over onto something if possible just so they look a little more tired instead of perfectly awake all the time.
Side note, it would be cool to add a random event where if low on sleep your crew could doze off and like the crew members that you replace that freak out under stress these guys would fall asleep and need punished I guess and replaced
Your crew members can pass out from lack of sleep, and have to receive medical attention, your officers also tell you when they're really tired, and they do move around checking the engines...
@@duckduck168yah a little but I have a lot of moments where I check in and they are just standing there kinda wobbling around for 6 hours
Just a quick tip: Wilhelmshaven doesn't have a "sh" sound, the s and h belong to distinct syllables. It's basically "Wilhemsport"
Hey man, i have been watching your vids for some time now and love the content, specialy Uboat, SH3, and war on the sea (love to get a tutorial on tdc and in war on the sea how to install the mod : defense of the east), keep it up! (PS: congrats on 150K)
ive been waiting for this. no one does videos like you do.
Pretty awesome patch! Thanks for the look.
Thank you for showcasing how complicated this actually is. I almost made the purchase after watching one of your how-to videos. Looks pretty fun if you have the knowledge to operate one of these things.. Sadly, I do not. You saved me from wasting time and money 07
U4 was original build for Republic of China Navy, was taken over be the German when hostility started between China an Japan.
Wolf you rock, making you one of my top three RUclipsrs, THANKS for AWESOME content❤!!
Love seeing how much this game has come along since its release. Its nice to have a such a good looking counterpart to Silent Hunter
Would the periscope view be stable, as is, or surely it would move with the sea movements?... 🇬🇧👍🏻
I've been waiting for this video ever since Deepwater released the beta. Thanks Wolfpack!
I really like your U-Boat content. I hope they fix the diesel engine animation with the next update. Once noticed I just cannot unsee it like red wine on the white shirt. Thats not how engines with their valvetrain move. Johann would not approve.
And yes, a TDC tutorial would be very much appreciated
Yes. I would very much appreciate a TDC tutorial. I'm always just ending up guessing, and my shots end up way off.
I'm really excited for more videos of this game. It looks really great and would love to see a full campaign.
"Gonna chase down the enemy" - which is pretty relative considering the Type IIA's top speed is only 13.9 kn. Considering Wolf's used to the Type VII, he's gotta adjust.
I don't play this game, but I DO enjoy watching the videos and would have to say that any tutorial given for equipment on the boats would be useful.
Yes for the tutorial please. This game looks fun but I have no clue on how the TDC works.
It looks fantastic . Thanks wolf just damn good TV...
Great stuff as always ❤ I would love the TDC tutorial. I'm using manual TDC, but I am not very experienced and get some "creative" results sometimes 😅
I'd love to see any and all tutorials you care to make; I bought this game after your initial reviews but couldn't make much headway with it. Looking forward to your revisit in the hope it will prompt my own. Thanks, as always.
Hey Wolfpack! The game also added the ability to remove contact markings from the map. So if you do the TDC video, maybe it would be nice if you also spent a couple moments talking about how to calculate a track in general on map and strategies to move into a good position. May seem simple, but I had to “self teach” myself just my $0.02 on possible ancillary topic some folks might appreciate. Love the videos as always.
You do great videos. I had played quite a bit in the distant past. I would be interested what you think of merchant and escort AI. In past, escorts would keep station rather than run a screening pattern. I felt this was a weakness compared to such classics as AOD or SHCE. Thanks.
Oh my, I had hoped for this so much... I was about to re-install it myself. 😁
A TDC Tutorial would be most appreciated. Glad to see more U-Boat content as well.
I was playing last night. The TDC makes kills so much more satisfying. I used to just lay waste to convoys taking out destroyers and freighters alike, but that was not realistic. The TDC makes it more challenging and realistic.
Sometimes echosounder gives me faulty shallow depth, even though I cannot see the seabed in external camera. All of a sudden seabed pops up and got hull damage.
excellent new series, will watch with enthusiasm.
As the captain of U48 says, a sub is a beautiful boat so is a sailing boat nice lines.
Oooh I love the way they implemented the TDC
Good vid!. Looking forward to the updated game version. And, yes please a full TDC tutorial with the new version would be fantastic.
one thing i will always wish for from this game is some sort of multiplayer, whether that be players operating the same boat or having different boats with players crewing them
I loved the type II in SH3 so much fun honestly lol also would love a TDC tutorial
Man I love this game. I can spend hours just running on the surface at night in the driving rain, red lights on, diesels hammering away, slicing through the waves towards my prey. The vibes are unmatched.
I’d like a full tdc tutorial. That’d be awesome. Also a multiplayer coop campaign mode would be awesome in this game too
I really want to like Uboat. SH3 and 4 are my favorites. But with Uboat, I don't feel like the commander. I either have to run around and do everything myself, or the other views feel so far removed that it doesn't feel like giving orders. Hard to explain but I just can't get into it.
