Home run! Just followed this procedure on my 2006 Tacoma. Saved $400 by purchasing a new fob from Amazon and watching this video. It’s really a crime for dealerships to charge that much to duplicate a key and dob that only costs $40!

I read the instructions that came with the fob and just couldn't get it. Found your video, and programmed it in real time with you step-by-step without pausing in the time of your video. Thank you for being very direct and clear with your tutorial! This worked perfect for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner.
NOTICE: If your car is not going into programing mode, make sure that the sound comes up when you're inserting the key (without having to turn it). If it's not, press or push the button on the cars frame that let's your car know that the door is open. you can tell if it's working by the "open door" light should turn on the dashboard. mine wouldn't go into programing mode because that button isn't working right and I had to manually push it down to let the car know the door was open.
Alright my friend, I had to come back and drop a bigger tip (still not enough money for what you have saved me by giving me the information to get it done simply)…. But your steps are perfect if we just complete each one in the proper sequence 😂 This experience gave a couple of my neighbors some concern/questionable looks/good story to tell their friends as I struggled with my own version of “Simon Says”.. After opening/closing door at the proper intervals, it worked! Who knew that following easy-to-understand directions would result in success? 😂 Again, we’ll done.
@@PYR-Auto update. Attempted to program it today and for some reason couldn’t get it to work. Followed the directions and the door locks never cycled. Even went to the website and followed the directions for my year vehicle (2011 tacoma).
Some vehicles are more sensitive than others when it comes to the speed in which you do the steps, most people tend to go to slow. In between attempts, remove the key from the ignition and open and close the drivers door a few times to "reset" before trying again.
Worked for me! It took a few tries for each fob though. I believe it may have been because my steering wheel wasn't locked. Or maybe my sequence timing was off. 2008 Tacoma. Thanks!
My truck doesn't have the key-in chime while the door is open and the key is just in the ignition. The chime only happens if I turn the key a bit. Without that chime working correctly, this sequence can't be completed therefore it doesn't enter programming mode. Any idea how to solve this?
My 2003 Tacoma enters programming mode and appears to recognize the new fobs while in programming mode, but as soon as I exit programming mode the truck stops responding to the fobs.
There may be too many remotes already programmed to the vehicle. To erase all previous remotes and add additional ones, instead of simply just adding additional remotes, you just need to do one step differently. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video and look at step "4. E." you need to to turn the ignition from On to OFF 5 times instead of once, to erase previous remotes. Also when you do this the door locks should cycle 5 times to indicate programming mode.
Follow up: It turned out to be a problem with the aftermarket remote. I bought a different one which doubles as a key and it was able to be programmed with no problems.

I'm trying to do this, but my doors don't lock and unlock to indicate it's in programming mode. 2004 Tacoma - it isn't working... EDIT: actually, it did work! At the step where you turn the key to ON and back OFF, I was only turning it to the first stop, not the second stop where the lights come on on the dash...

What kind of package does that Tacoma have? And what version security system? I've got an 03 Tacoma PreRunner Double Cab 3.4L and 02 that's the exact same and neither have interiors or steering wheels that look like that. Neither of their remote transmitters look like that either. There are 2 versions of the security system...Factory installed and PIO/DIO...the two versions are completely different and have different programming procedures.

That's my issue, the key in ignition sound isn't working when door is open. Maybe that's why it can't go into programming mode 🤔

Mine isn't working. When I open the door, my open door notification doesn't come on. Is that keeping the truck from going into programming mode?
Took me 36 times but we got it. Think my ignition is not very respective had to make sure to push the key in with pressure.
I looked behind the pillar on the passenger side to find my receiver but my 2006 Camry doesn’t have one. Google said all Camrys have one??
